The people at the round table listened to Lu Siyu’s suggestion and fell into deep thought. They weren’t fools; Li Feng’s rule was that there were no rules—as long as you put forwards the silver, he didn’t care how those present would compete.

As the saying goes, free stuff is the most expensive. Similarly, an auction without rules also implies no bottom line, which might result in a greater cost in the end.

Isn’t that the way auctions work? Through bidding, items often sell for much more than their actual value.

"Um, I agree."

"I agree too."

Zhang Chang furrowed his eyebrows slightly. The Lu family’s female Zhuge Liang was indeed formidable, "Your thod is indeed good, but it is not entirely fair. The strength behind those present is not equal, and your proposal for equal shares benefits those of lesser strength quite a lot, but it is not very fair to our families that have prepared carefully for a long ti."

Zhang Chang was one of the first to contact Li Feng and wanted to acquire several companies and plots of land from the Century Group. For this, he had raised a huge sum of no less than fifty billion. If they did as Lu Siyu suggested, his final gains would definitely be less.

"Um, it seems fair, but it’s not very fair to us."

Lu Siyu had anticipated opposition early on and looked at Zhang Chang, "This is just an immature idea of mine. Everyone is free to speak their minds and add to it. If no one agrees with this idea, then just pretend I never ntioned it."

Lu Siyu didn’t argue further; her idea could at least gain the support of more than half of those present. People always choose what’s to their advantage, so there’s no need for Lu Siyu to argue about it.

"Young Master, this Miss Lu of the Lu family is very astute, eh? To think of such a wonderful thod the mont you stepped away—if we go by her idea, the competition at this table will certainly diminish."

An Xi leaned against Li Feng, her mouth slightly curled.

Li Feng held a goblet in his hand and leaned back in a sofa, "I’ve already set my bottom line, so even if they pay outright, I’ll still co out ahead."

"I didn’t intend to have them fighting each other to the death, but people are always greedy. If they want to give money, I won’t refuse."

"Wouldn’t you refuse if Miss Lu from the Lu family was throwing herself into your arms?" An Xi turned her head, teasing him.

"To be honest, Miss Lu is indeed beautiful, with an exceptional deanor and a good figure, not to ntion she’s so intelligent. Even if you don’t marry her, having her as a mistress wouldn’t be too bad."

Li Feng rolled his eyes.

"Forget it, I don’t want dostic turmoil and trouble from the rear courtyard."

"Okay, enough chatter."

Zhu Jun slapped the table.

"President Lu’s suggestion is quite good, but Zhang Chang also makes a point. I suggest we compromise. Each family contributes a share of thirty billion. If you can put forward more than thirty billion in funds, then bring out the silver. Don’t try to fob us off with stock, real estate, or anything else. Whoever can show they have more funding now—funding that ans cash or governnt bonds, which are readily liquid—will get a higher share upon verification. I hope everyone agrees with this."

Zhu Jun’s words led to people exchanging glances.

"Junior Commander Zhu’s words are sensible. Whoever can show the funds they have on hand now can earn a share equal to that amount."

"Um, I have no objections."

"I agree."

Lu Siyu also nodded directly. Thirty billion was already a strenuous figure for so of those present, and for the Lu family, it was about as much as they could muster without bankrupting themselves.

It was the limit that the Lu family could put forwards.

"I can contribute fifty-five billion."

"I have forty billion."

"Eighty billion," Zhu Jun stated, causing the others to look at him. Damn, it’s no wonder he’s from one of Jin City’s top ten families—seriously rich.

Zhu Jun’s face remained composed, but his heart was full of emotion. He had received prior notice from Li Feng and knew that tonight’s gathering was no simple affair. The funds he had were not just his own but belonged to the top ten families.

"Shuangshuang, aren’t you planning to contribute a bit more?"

Ma Shuangshuang looked at Lu Siyu and smiled knowingly, "Five hundred billion, though I’ll need to make a phone call."

The others looked at Ma Shuangshuang, the daughter of the wealthiest man in the city. Her father alone had hundreds of billions in personal assets. Five hundred billion was nothing to her family—it was said they could even toss out a trillion without causing a stir.

Ma Shuangshuang’s five hundred billion wasn’t sothing their family needed. Their family already had a comrcial empire worth a trillion, which was quite sufficient—they didn’t need to gild the lily. Operating their own industries well was more than enough.

What she wanted was to reserve these shares for the many sisters of the Heroine Association. After all, having a share didn’t an making a purchase. Once she made a call or two, giving out such favors was worth it.

"Subscription will be open for ten minutes only. Everyone should act within their ans. The main event is yet to co. You should contact your families if you need to. After ten minutes, the auction will start."

The gathered parties rose from their seats. Fortunately, the eting hall was spacious enough, with several small compartnts, allowing conversations without disturbance.

And as these calls went out, the night was destined to be sleepless.

In the hospital.

Li Jingwei’s lackey appeared in the ward, and a disheveled nurse blushed as she hurried out of the room.

Li Jingwei looked rather displeased at this minion, who was spoiling his fun, and quickly approached.

"Young Master, there’s good news and bad news. Which would you like to hear first?"

Li Jingwei looked at the bodyguard.

"What’s the good news?"

"Cui Boyu has been caught in a scandal, snagged red-handed. A video has already been sent out; he’s beco famous."

Li Jingwei smiled broadly, "Well done."

"That Cui Boyu loves to sche and thinks too highly of himself. I want to see how he struts around now."

Li Jingwei’s face darkened suddenly, "And the bad news? You’re not about to tell Li Feng’s side has failed, are you?"

The bodyguard nodded, "Yes, the Mad Blade was defeated by Li Feng and was thrown out of Outer Heaven."

"What about the money?"

"It’s been returned; the man went to the airport to go back."

Li Jingwei’s expression beca grave, "What exactly is Li Feng’s background? Isn’t Mad Blade known for not having anyone left alive beneath his blade? Was that all just bluster?"

"The specifics are unclear. Li Feng’s place is heavily guarded; without an invitation, you simply can’t get in."

"Young Master, I’m afraid Li Feng will know it was you who sent soone. In case he might... After all, this isn’t our territory."

The bodyguard cautiously suggested.

"Are you saying I should leave this hospital? Would I, Li Jingwei, be scared of retaliation?"

Li Jingwei’s complexion was very unpleasant.

"Young Master, just to be cautious. After all, even the Mad Blade failed. That Li Feng must not be underestimated."
