Well... That was almost true. It wasn’t the only thing on her mind. For example part of her was thinking sothing along the lines of ’can’t that future boy get anything right?’
Because, could he?! He said it would take a week for her headaches, she had it the sa day. He says that Jason would be a Necromancer in the future, and He’s actually a healer. He says that magic will only start to appear after the week, here these people were using it right now and the person beside her had even developed enough to have a source.
Honestly, it kinda of made her feel a little better about his prophecy about Percy. Sure, he was right about the occasional thing, like magic rituals and items, such as the Ditanium, but prediction-wise? He was in the gutter with those.
Regardless of that failure of a fortune teller, Valerie really did think that these so-called mages were being sloppy in their casting. With the Ditanium keeping her magic on lock, she couldn’t feel how powerful they were nor how well they were channelling their mana, but they were doing so through the basic chants, which was essentially magic on easy mode.
Unfortunately even that they were managing to ss up. Their hand signs were incredibly slow, taking a second or two at least for every single sign, and even having to adjust themselves to get them right.
So of them, based on what she knew, signed them in the wrong order which was causing their spells to fail. The chants they were speaking to make the spells functioned were often muttered, rushed or stuttered. But whether they said it painfully slow or rushed through it so fast that they stumbled over their own words and tongue twisted themselves, the results were always the sa.
The spell would cast, as the words were sowhat said, but the resulting spell would be pathetically weak. And this wasn’t even taking into account their aim.
If by so miracle they managed to cast the spell normally, there was about a 1 in 5 chance that they would actually hit the stationary target, never mind a target rushing towards them.
In her training session with Percy, they would be defeated in a second before they could stutter out their first spell. In an actual battle, they were no better than cannon fodder.
But like hell was she going to tell these people that! She wasn’t stupid! Telling these people that their new, magic wielding warriors were sloppy and useless was the perfect way to get disposed of out of annoyance, or beaten while she was told that she was ’Courting death’ or sothing along those lines.
So instead, Valerie grit her teeth and gave her kidnapper a forced smile.
"They are very talented for beginners. To so so far in just a few weeks, I can already see so potential in a few of them. No doubt you will be able to take over the governnt or... whatever your goal is in a few months or years." She said nervously, hoping to give him what he wanted to hear whilst also gauging their goal.
However her comnt didn’t get the reaction she had hoped for, nor the one she had expected. The man barked in laughter, giving a contemptible glance towards the nearby students who were glaring at her like they were trying to set her on fire with their minds. Fat chance with their magic skills.
"Did... I say sothing wrong?" Valerie asked, glancing at the stealthful assassin holding onto her chair, just to make sure they were still there and not moving in for the kill.
Instead of answering, the man in the suit leaned down and took so keys from his pocket. He slipped them into the lock of her shackles and actually unlocked them. The mont it was removed from her arm, her mana imdiately rushed back into place like soldiers standing at attention and beca instantly obedient to her control once more.
Even more than that, her external magical senses were no longer suppressed. Her bloodline reacted to the tallic implants of everyone’s bodies, except for the stealthful assassin who she could still not sense through any ans.
She could also sense the magic levels of everyone nearby, especially the source users. Which was more than than the man in front of her. In fact it was everyone.
Every. Single. Person. From the worst student to the best. All of them had at least a low level source. Tier one was the most common, with the best student - the one who scored 55 - and a few others that got high scores having a tier two source.
The man in front of her was a tier four. Which was a horrifying thought that such a thing existed in their world, but was also incredibly confusing.
Anyone that was powerful enough to form a source in such a little amount of ti, especially in a world like this, should have been masters of magic. There should have been no way that these people could be so pathetically weak and yet so amazingly strong at the sa ti.
It was akin to finding soone who could build a nuclear bomb from scraps in a cave, but couldn’t light a fire with two sticks to save their lives.
The man across from her laughed again at the utterly baffled expression on her face.
"I see that you understand now."
She didn’t, she absolutely did not , but he seed to think otherwise. Whatever mindset they assud that she had was apparently too much for one of the students to bear. It was the top student, the one that scored the mighty 55, that stepped forwards and practically spat out a challenge at her.
"If she thinks she is so great, let’s see her try. Then we will see who is the real beginner here."
He said, with such dramatic pomp and offense at the word ’beginner’ that Valerie was sure that he would have thrown his glove to the ground, had he been wearing one.
"Wait... No... I-" She stuttered, before she started to roll forward against her will. Pushed towards the line by her silent chauffeur, whilst the man in the suit smirked knowingly to himself.
"Yes... Let’s see how she does, shall we? I think it should be very educational."
