The color drained from Qian Duoduo’s face. The mont Huangfu Jun uttered the four words "Soul-Draining Mother Spider," he knew sothing was terribly wrong.
Huangfu Jun sneered and thrust a finger toward Qian Duoduo’s chest.
"Stop!"
Nangong Yan and Li Xuemiao cried out in alarm at the sa ti. They tried to stop him, but it was too late.
Just as Huangfu Jun’s finger was about to land on Qian Duoduo, an ice wall several feet thick abruptly materialized between them.
Wu the Old Ghost’s son had made his move!
"Hmph, a petty trick!"
Without slowing or altering his movent in the slightest, Huangfu Jun’s fingertip struck the ice wall.

Following the loud thud, the ice wall shook violently and cracks spiderwebbed across its surface. It was on the verge of collapse, but it hadn’t shattered on impact as Huangfu Jun had expected.
Nangong Yan and Li Xuemiao seized the opportunity to pull Qian Duoduo aside to safety.
"You’re courting death!" Huangfu Jun snapped his head around, his voice cold as he glared at Wu the Old Ghost’s son, whose face had grown even paler and more gaunt.
His failure to shatter the ice wall with a single finger was, without a doubt, a personal insult.
An insult that could only be washed away with blood!
But Huangfu Yu, who had been silent all this ti, sensed a familiar yet dreadful aura emanating from the ice wall.
"Jun, wait!"
Seeing that Huangfu Jun was about to fly into a rage, Huangfu Yu spoke up again to stop him.
"Elder Brother?" Huangfu Jun looked over in confusion.
Huangfu Yu ignored him. His eyes were fixed on Wu the Old Ghost’s son as he asked, "What is your relationship with the people of Cold Cicada Valley?"

As far as Huangfu Yu knew, due to the peculiar nature of the Cold Cicada Bloodline, none of the n from Cold Cicada Valley lived past the age of twenty.
But Wu the Old Ghost’s son was clearly older than that. This was highly unusual!
Until he understood the situation, he dared not rashly offend Cold Cicada Valley, even as the designated heir of the Huangfu Family.
"I have nothing to do with Cold Cicada Valley!" Wu the Old Ghost’s son said in a low voice, his firm tone laced with a hint of hatred.
’No relationship, eh?’
’Then you’ve left no choice.’
Huangfu Yu gave Huangfu Jun a look that said, ’Do as you wish.’ Huangfu Jun took the hint. In a flash, he appeared before Wu the Old Ghost’s son and threw a single-ard punch at his chest.
Wu the Old Ghost’s son gritted his teeth, just about to activate his Cold Cicada Bloodline for a last-ditch struggle, when a longsword pierced through his chest and into his heart.
SHK!
All his strength was instantly shattered. Wu the Old Ghost’s son stumbled backward, finally slumping against a wall and collapsing to the ground.
"Heh... to think that after clinging to life for a thousand years, I still couldn’t escape death... It’s just... I’ve put Father through so much... COUGH, COUGH..."
The life in Wu the Old Ghost’s son gradually faded.
But his face showed no fear of death, only guilt and a sense of release.

Huangfu Jun twirled his wrist, creating a "sword flower" that he then flicked toward Qian Duoduo.

As if it were sentient, the sword flower curved in mid-air, bypassing Nangong Yan and Li Xuemiao who stood in front of Qian Duoduo, and struck him in the chest.
HISS...
With a soft hiss, no wound appeared on Qian Duoduo’s chest; not even his clothes were torn.
But his entire body froze in place, and behind him appeared the massive, spectral image of a spider.
The specter’s two fangs plunged into the top of his skull, greedily draining Qian Duoduo’s Essence of Life and the very source of his soul.
Instantly, the whites of Qian Duoduo’s eyes showed, and his body began to twitch faintly.
With each spasm, his life force diminished.
"Brother!"
Seeing this, Liu Hui’s eyes went bloodshot, wide with a fury so intense it felt they would tear from their sockets. But he was immobilized, able to do nothing but watch helplessly.
"Don’t worry, he won’t die just yet," Huangfu Jun said with a cold laugh. "To make sure he savors the experience, I’ve limited the Soul-Draining Mother Spider’s venom. He’ll get to ’enjoy’ this state for a full four hours before he finally dies."
"You’re a monster!" Li Xuemiao sobbed.
As the Second Princess of the Empire, the apple of Li Shimu’s eye, when had she ever witnessed such a brutal scene?
"Now, it’s your turn!" Huangfu Jun pointed his sword at Nangong Yan and Li Xuemiao. He had no more patience for gas.
"Brother Da Pang, soone is bullying Xue’er!"
Li Xuemiao was terrified. Clutching her head with one hand, she held a Communication Talisman in the other and scread into it.
She didn’t even know why her first instinct was to call for Jin Sanpang instead of her father, Emperor Li Shimu.
BOOM!
The door to the Cultivation Room suddenly burst open, and two enormous hamrs flew out, one after the other, aid straight at Huangfu Jun!
