"Lord Lu Jun, the territory east of the Andes Mountains of the Empire has been eaten away inch by inch by the Amazon Empire. We have basically been defeated across the board."

The young mage said sowhat dejectedly, "Now we can only rely on the Andes Mountains as a natural barrier to protect the remaining territory along the western coastline."

Upon hearing this, Lu Jun was shocked. Had the situation really beco this dire? The eastern territories of the Inca Empire occupied the majority of its land, while the western side was only a narrow strip.

If the Amazon crossed the Andes, they could drive straight into the sacred land of the space-ti town—peril was at hand!

His expression grew heavy, and inwardly he lanted that hundreds of years ago the Inca Empire had faced the threat of the Amazon, barely surviving on the western side of the mountains, while hundreds of years later the South Arican Alliance faced the invasion of the Sea Monster Empire, struggling to survive on the eastern side.

Every era and every nation faces all kinds of calamities. So endure, while others vanish without a trace.

The Inca Empire had not endured. After all, land-based demons were not like sea monsters; the mountain barriers were not so insurmountable.

"Thank you for telling . I will do my best."

Lu Jun sighed, no longer delaying the young soldier’s ti, and turned to leave.

The young man did not forget to shout from behind, "Please, Lord Lu Jun!"

Lu Jun waved his hand in reply and at the sa ti noticed that the other mages and officers in that unit were also watching him with hopeful eyes, which moved him.

It reminded him of the atmosphere in the sacred land. In large forces like this, where interests were intertwined and complex, in the past they surely sched against one another. But now, faced with life and death, they had beco united as one.

In just a single month, the people and events he had encountered were all so pure and sincere. It seed that everyone wanted to place their hopes on him, "Lu Jun," to the point that he could hardly breathe.

"Perhaps only when civilization reaches its end can the people burst forth with the most brilliant fireworks, leaving behind great marks such as the Nazca Lines."

Lost in thought, Lu Jun returned ho.

The maid, Lala, had been waiting at the door for a long ti. She ran up to him and took the initiative to help him remove his clothes in service.

Originally, he intended to refuse, but the gentle temptation was far too alluring.

Of course, when the young maid reached out, he still pushed her away—not for any other reason, but because it was against the law, and besides, who knew how long he could remain in this space-ti? It was best not to get too entangled with these people.

At night, after washing up, Lu Jun felt refreshed. Glancing over, he saw Lala crouched at the doorway with her arms around her knees, her eyes red and swollen, quietly sobbing.

He mistakenly thought that his earlier action had hurt her self-esteem, so he stepped forward and asked, "What’s wrong with you?"

As soon as he spoke, Lala hurriedly stood, bowed her head, and greeted him, "It’s nothing, Lord Lu Jun."

Lu Jun glanced at her. Seeing that she did not wish to speak, he did not press the matter.

Just as he was about to return to his room to rest, the young maid’s soft, frail voice sounded behind him: "Lord Lu Jun, do you think we will survive?"

He stopped, about to speak but hesitated. Then he heard Lala earnestly say, "I know only a hero like you can save the Inca. You will definitely succeed, right?"

Lu Jun didn’t know how to respond. He vaguely nodded, "The elders will think of a way."

It seed that bad news from the front lines had reached the town, and many people here had beco unable to stop themselves from sinking into pessimism.

Lala pressed her lips together and said nothing more.

Afterward, he stood in his room, his thoughts in chaos. The desire to flee this place grew stronger, but at the sa ti, the urge to stay also intensified.

He knew this was guilt at work. Having learned so much and been entrusted with so many hopes, it felt wrong to do nothing. Yet wanting to turn the tide with his ager cultivation as a High-level Mage made it nearly impossible to shake the montum of history.

Rumble!

At that mont, a deafening explosion echoed across the heavens from the city, and a violent wave of energy swept through the surroundings, making the buildings tremble violently.

Lu Jun’s expression turned grim. He imdiately opened the door and saw above the small town a vast, sky-darkening black cloud approaching, accompanied by the massive "buzz, buzz, buzz" of air trembling, filling his ears.

"This is... the Insect Tide!"

His gaze sharpened, and he finally saw clearly what the thick, endless black clouds in the distance were—countless, nearly invisible poisonous insect demons, forming an endless storm that devoured everything.

And this was only the vanguard. Following right behind were swathes of bright, multicolored "clouds" surging madly into the city. The varieties of insect Gu were myriad—there were bee types, mantis types, and so so small they were almost undetectable.

At first glance, they still seed far away, but in the blink of an eye they were upon him, blotting out the sky and covering the city like mist, enveloping the dense buildings in a blur.

"Hold your breath!"

Lu Jun instantly sensed danger and urgently warned the maid, Lala. Then, with a thought, he traced the star track in his mind, about to cloak the two of them with Fifth-level Water Defense and High-level Heavenly Water Curtain—only to suddenly be stumped. His water elent was sealed.

"Damn it," he cursed inwardly, imdiately switching to space magic. With a thought, the space rippled with silver waves, light flashed, and a twisted force field condensed, sealing the two of them in an impenetrable barrier.

Telekinesis—ntal Force Field!

Plop, plop, plop...

The mist-like insect swarm in the air was blocked outside, while the normal-sized poisonous insects still threw themselves forward madly, slamming against the pure silver light mbrane, only to be crushed into powder by the spatial tremors.

Before long, the oval light pillar around Lu Jun was covered in a layer of black-and-red insect corpses, and the wooden floor of the house was piled high with dense bugs, like thick black soil with not a single spot to step on, accompanied by a stench that pierced the skies.

Seeing this disgusting scene, his face darkened, and the maid lala nearly vomited.

Lu Jun knew a bit about insects—almost all of them were standard for Poison Elent users. In the original work, insect witches in South Arica were tricky even for Super Tier Mo Fan to deal with, and Mu Bai’s Poison Elent was unrivaled, raising a Dragon Blood Insect Lord.

Many poisonous insects had strange and varied abilities, akin to an alternative summoning elent; without comprehensive defenses, even filtering gas, one could not be assured of safety. They were truly impossible to guard against.

Holding up the spatial force field, Lu Jun looked around while resisting the endless swarm.

Screams! One after another rang in his ears. Lu Jun saw with his own eyes, one living human after another sward by the colorful insect tide, and when they left, the place was empty—flesh and bones all gnawed away.

Furthermore, various magic—whether fla or frost—only worked on part of the poisonous insects. Before the mages could rejoice, specialized fire-resistant or cold-resistant insect swarms imdiately attacked in large numbers.

In this situation, Lu Jun instead felt grateful for the all-purpose nature of Spatial Magic, keeping all invaders firmly blocked outside.

Unfortunately, the good tis did not last. Before he could speak, his expression suddenly changed as he looked toward the edge of the town. A small patch of dull gray insect tide silently swept through the city; buildings and houses collapsed and were eaten clean, leaving nothing but barren land in its wake.

The maid Lala, panicked, said, "Lord Lu Jun, what should we do now?"

"This level of terror should be the demonic invasion of the Amazon."

Lu Jun drew in a sharp breath, anxiety filling his heart—he still hadn’t found the way back!
