Coffee, Pineapple Juice, and Dangerous Thoughts
After a few minutes in line, their tea with milk was ready and handed to them.
The evening shopping street glowed beneath warm lights hanging from storefronts. Steam curled from food stalls, laughter drifted through the air, and the sll of grilled at, sugar, spice, and roasted snacks mixed together beneath the cooling breeze.
Julian D’Aurelius casually took his pineapple juice with one hand while Amara Ravenswood accepted her coffee with milk.
Amara looked down at the cup for a mont before smiling softly.
"It’s still warm."
Julian glanced sideways at her.
"You sound like you just received so priceless treasure."
She lifted an eyebrow.
"For doctors, good coffee can save lives."
Julian laughed.
"Oh? Then should I be honored? I just witnessed Miracle Doctor Amara revealing one of dicine’s greatest secrets."
Amara rolled her eyes.
"You really know how to ruin a serious atmosphere."
Then she brought the cup to her lips.
Amara took a sip, her eyes squinting happily.
"Mmm..."
Her shoulders relaxed slightly.
"This is good."
"This is good."
A tiny smile unconsciously appeared on her face as she took another sip.
The light reflected softly in her hazel eyes.
Girls, after all, love sweet treats.
Even soone usually calm and mature like Amara couldn’t hide her expression at that mont.
Julian looked at her and chuckled.
"You look like soone who just got promoted and received a ten-million-Euro bonus."
Amara imdiately looked at him.
"Do I really?"
Julian nodded seriously.
"No. Actually, happier."
Amara stared at him for a few seconds before snorting.
"You’re teasing again."
She looked at Julian’s pineapple juice with bright eyes and said, "Julian, do you want to try my coffee with milk? I want to taste your pineapple juice."
Julian looked at her before shaking his head with a calm expression.
"The pineapple juice doesn’t taste good, and I don’t like coffee with milk either."
Amara narrowed her eyes suspiciously.
"Really?"
Julian calmly raised the glass and took another sip.
His expression didn’t even change.
"Very terrible."
He took another sip.
"Extrely terrible."
Amara looked at him.
Then looked at the cup.
Then looked back at him.
"...Then why are you drinking it?"
Julian lowered the cup and looked at her with complete seriousness.
"Because I spent money."
"..."
Julian’s face remained utterly calm.
Then he shook his head. "No exchange."
Amara blinked in confusion.
"Why?"
Julian simply looked away and took another sip from his pineapple juice without answering.
Amara stared at him for a few seconds before narrowing her eyes mischievously. The corners of her lips slowly curled upward.
"Wait..."
She leaned slightly closer, her eyes glimring with playful suspicion.
"Don’t tell you’re acting weird because you’re embarrassed?"
Julian’s eyelid twitched slightly.
"Embarrassed about what?"
Amara lightly swung her cup in front of him and smiled innocently.
"About drinking from the sa cup as ?"
Julian stared at her for two seconds.
Then—
Flick.
"Ow!"
Amara imdiately covered her forehead and glared at him.
Julian calmly withdrew his hand as if nothing had happened.
"You’re thinking too much."
He took another sip of his pineapple juice with complete composure.
"Your imagination is becoming dangerous."
At that mont—
[Switching drinks? Wouldn’t that count as an indirect kiss?]
Amara’s fingers suddenly stiffened around her cup.
"..."
Her eyes widened slightly.
Huh?
Then Julian’s inner voice continued.
[No chance.]
[I’m not wasting my first indirect kiss.]
[If I’m doing this, I want my first kiss to be an actual kiss... lip to lip.]
A brief pause.
[Though... if she insisted... maybe I could just directly drink the coffee from her lips instead.]
"...?!"
Amara’s face instantly froze and she nearly choked her coffee.
"Cough—!"
Her face instantly reddened.
"W-What?!"
Julian looked at her with confusion.
"What happened?"
He gently patted her back.
"You drank too fast."
Amara stared at him.
You shaless man!
Yet his face looked innocent.
Completely innocent.
Julian let out a helpless sigh and looked at her.
"You’re a doctor. You know drinking too fast can make you choke."
Amara blinked and tilted her head slightly.
Julian stared at her for a mont before shaking his head with exaggerated disappointnt.
"This girl..." he muttered under his breath. "Where did all that intelligence go?"
His eyes drifted downward for a second, then back to her face.
A teasing grin slowly appeared.
"Don’t tell it all migrated sowhere else."
Amara narrowed her eyes.
"...Sowhere else?"
Julian looked at her with a completely serious expression.
"I’m starting to suspect your boobs stole all the nutrients."
"..."
Silence.
Amara stared at him.
Julian calmly took another sip of his drink as if he hadn’t just said sothing outrageous.
A few seconds later—
"Julian."
"Hm?"
"...Do you want to die?"
Julian looked at her for a mont.
Then he nodded seriously.
"Yes."
Amara blinked.
Julian rested his chin on one hand and spoke with complete shaless confidence.
"But if I have to go, I at least want a legendary ending."
"..."
He looked at her and sighed dramatically.
"Imagine it. A peaceful death. Suffocated by your boobs. What a heroic way to leave this world."
"..."
Amara’s mouth twitched slightly.
Her hand froze around the coffee cup.
For a few seconds, she genuinely had no idea how to respond.
A strange sense of embarrassnt mixed with complete defeat washed over her.
Julian could be really shaless and annoying sotis.
Yet annoyingly enough...
The corner of her lips still lifted slightly.
Maybe because his expression remained so absurdly serious while saying complete nonsense.
Amara let out a quiet breath and stood up.
"For the sake of public safety..."
She looked at him expressionlessly.
"Let’s go inside and see if there’s anything good to eat."
She pointed towards the entrance of the shopping street.
Bright lights stretched into the distance while streams of people moved back and forth like flowing rivers.
The street was filled with various snacks, and she often wandered here.
"There are grilled skewers, desserts, fried snacks..."
She turned toward him.
"And I know which places taste good."
Julian imdiately stood up.
"Oh? Running away from the conversation?"
Amara walked forward without looking back.
"I’m preventing a future cri scene."
"Sure."
