The sheer, naked contempt actually made Song Wanning laugh.
’So it really looks down on that much, huh?’
A chill spread across her face, and her cold tone was laced with a hint of killing intent.
"It really did look down on ."
"So, I roasted and ate it."
Song Wanning clicked her tongue.
"I have to say, it was far more delicious than any ordinary egg. Heh."
Though she sounded like she was smiling, her voice was filled with a bone-chilling cold.
The Xirang’s eyes widened, and its heart skipped a beat. It was completely unbelievable.
"You—you ate the Divine Beast Egg? You’re insane!"
"That was a Divine Beast!"
A Divine Beast’s power is extraordinary! Anyone would do whatever it takes to form a bond with one, so how could anyone bear to eat it?
It simply couldn’t comprehend Song Wanning’s way of thinking.
But Song Wanning just sneered. "So what if it was a Divine Beast? If I can’t use it, there’s no reason to keep it."
She had never been a saint and couldn’t bring herself to act like Ye Chuxue.
’Any resource I encounter is mine. It must obey . If it refuses, then it will be destroyed!’
’In the end, strength is all that matters!’
Hearing this, the Xirang trembled, and the way it looked at Song Wanning changed completely.
’Is she threatening ?’
"You—don’t even think about scaring ! I’m telling you, no matter what you do, I will never submit to you!"
"And I will certainly never form a contract with you!"
The Xirang held firm. It wasn’t so easily scared. For all it knew, Song Wanning was just making things up to trick it.
"Hah. What a sha."
Song Wanning sighed. She had originally planned to save a portion of it to cultivate Spiritual dicine; otherwise, she wouldn’t have wasted her breath.
’Since the Xirang is so adamant about not joining , I’ll just use all of it to create a clone.’
’That way, the clone’s body will be much more durable, and I’ll feel more at ease when entering the Secluded Land.’
She set down the bottle and got to work.
First, she had to light the Artifact Refining Furnace. Dan Fire surged from within her, its fierce flas rapidly heating the base of the furnace.
Song Wanning carefully controlled the heat. Only after ensuring the entire furnace was heated evenly did she begin preparations for refining the clone.
West Wind Sand, Spiritual Liquid, Iron teorite, Mak Stone...
One by one, in precise order, the various precious materials were added to the furnace and slowly refined.
The Artifact Refining Room quickly grew hot.
Listening to the crackling flas, the Xirang grew increasingly uneasy. ’What is this woman planning to do?’
’Why did she take out?’
’She’s not planning to refine too, is she?’
The Xirang shook its head. ’Impossible. No matter how crazy this woman is, she wouldn’t do sothing like that.’
’She must be trying to scare !’
It snorted coldly and said with great arrogance, "Then don’t waste your effort. I said I won’t form a contract with you, and I absolutely an it!"
Song Wanning paid it no mind.
’I’ve already lit the furnace, and it still thinks I’m bluffing.’
’Exchanging even one more word with this moron would be a waste of ti.’
She focused all her attention on manipulating the flas, carefully adding the Spiritual Liquid, not daring to make the slightest mistake.
If the mixture was the least bit uneven, all the ingredients would be ruined and utterly wasted.
To the side, the Xirang periodically shouted and clamored for Song Wanning to release it.
At first, the Xirang remained confident and self-assured, but gradually, it began to realize that sothing was terribly wrong.
The more serious Song Wanning looked, the more frightened it beca.
"Hey, I’m talking to you! Why aren’t you answering?"
"Hey, did you hear ?"
"Are you deaf? Let out of here, now!"
The Xirang lost its composure and began to panic.
But no matter how it yelled, the woman completely ignored it.
Seeing the smoke billowing more and more intensely from the furnace, the Xirang was struck by a powerful sense of foreboding.
’This woman isn’t actually going to refine too, is she?’
"Hey, are you for real?"
"I’m telling you, I’m not afraid of you!"
"Hey, answer ! Don’t just stay silent!"
The Xirang tried to reassure itself but failed, growing so anxious it was on the verge of tears.
Although it was an Innate Spiritual Object, the Xirang had precious little life experience. When had it ever encountered a situation like this?
The incessant noise was giving Song Wanning a headache. She shot it a death glare. "Shut up."
Xirang: "..."
It jumped in fright, then imdiately began to clamor indignantly.
"What’s with the attitude?"
"Let go right now! If you’re willing to release , I might consider whether or not I’ll form a contract with you!"
It desperately needed a way to back down gracefully.
If Song Wanning would just plead with it a little, it might not be entirely out of the question for it to accept her.
It couldn’t be helped; the sight of that furnace made its heart pound in terror, leaving it unable to feel at ease.
But Song Wanning completely ignored its words, not even sparing it a single glance.
"Hey, did you hear ? As long as you beg again, I’ll form a contract with you!"
The Xirang raised its voice, shouting again, refusing to give up. "Hey, I said I’m willing to form a contract with you! Are you deaf?"
"HEY! HEY! HEY!!!!"
It grew more and more flustered and agitated.
Song Wanning remained completely focused on fusing the ingredients in the furnace, not the least bit tempted by the Xirang’s offer.
’I have no need for sothing that won’t obey.’
’That superior attitude, as if it’s bestowing so great charity, is infuriating just to look at.’
The ingredients in the furnace were now fusing rapidly, and not even the slightest error could be permitted.
Song Wanning didn’t have extensive experience with Artifact Refining, but from the many tis she had forged and upgraded her Lifebound Sword, she was very familiar with the fundantal procedures.
As she continued to add the Spiritual Liquid, the mixture in the furnace gradually thickened, becoming like syrup.
She took out a long rod she had prepared and began to stir carefully.
The sight of her focused expression made the Xirang’s heart sink into despair.
’I already said I’m willing to form a contract, so why isn’t she even a little bit tempted?’
’What is she trying to do?’
’Is she testing , or does she really not want to form a contract?’
The Xirang felt it couldn’t fathom Song Wanning’s thoughts at all. In its inherited mories, didn’t humans who sought a contract always coddle and protect it, winning it over with their sincerity before a contract could be ford?
’Why is it different with ?’
The Xirang couldn’t figure it out, and it had grown tired of shouting.
It just mumbled quietly, calling out a few words from ti to ti.
An entire night passed like this. At last, Song Wanning set down the long rod, a flicker of exhaustion on her face.
Both Alchemy and Artifact Refining consud a great deal of spiritual power, and her head had begun to ache.
Just as she prepared to take a short rest, the Xirang started up again with its snide remarks.
"Are you sure you don’t want to reconsider begging again?"
"Maybe I’ll agree this ti?"
Even now, its pride was getting the better of it.
Song Wanning shot it an impatient glance, took out an Elixir Pill, and swallowed it before sitting down to the side.
The Xirang, still not giving up, continued to make a racket, annoying Song Wanning to no end.
Once her spiritual power had recovered a bit, she stood up, walked to the table, and snatched the bottle.
The Xirang was instantly overjoyed and imdiately struck a superior pose.
"So? Have you made up your mind?"
"As long as you beg properly, I will definitely form a contract with you!"
