Both Julius and Rosalina froze the mont the voice reached their ears.
Their eyes opened so wide it looked like they might pop out any second.
The bright white light around them was still fading as they landed on the 10th floor, but neither of them cared about the new place right now.
They stood completely still, hearts beating fast.
What did he just say?
The regression ability... wasn’t working?
Julius felt a cold shiver run down his back.
Rosalina’s face turned pale, her mouth slightly open in shock.
A second later, Uriel’s voice ca again from the ring on Rosalina’s finger.
It sounded loud and clear, full of excitent and energy, like he had been waiting for hours to speak.
["I’ve just divined it,"] Uriel said quickly.
["It has been a few hours since I was trying to contact you, but for so reason I couldn’t reach you guys! Now, did you hear ?"]
Julius and Rosalina leaned in closer to the ring without thinking.
Their bodies were tense. They listened with full attention, not wanting to miss even one word.
Uriel continued, his voice rising with enthusiasm.
["The regression ability isn’t working... no,"] he stopped himself in the middle of the sentence and corrected it.
["To be precise, the system isn’t working for so reasons. He is at the 10th floor. All the students have already failed the test and have been transported back to reality. Only he and Alia are there now."]
The voice from the ring felt like a gift from heaven to both of them.
It cut through the heavy silence and gave them information they desperately needed.
Uriel kept talking, sounding more and more eager.
["You can go once you two get accepted. You will be able to kill him!!"]
The mont Uriel finished speaking, everything went quiet again.
Julius and Rosalina slowly turned their heads to look at each other.
Their eyes were wide with disbelief. The news hit them hard.
The regression ability wasn’t working?
And neither was his system?
"What the.....?"
Rosalina muttered in disbelief.
Her eyes stayed wide open as she stared into the empty space for a mont.
She slowly turned her head toward Julius and saw the exact sa shock on his face.
But his disbelief looked even deeper.
His face had gone pale, and his mouth hung slightly open.
He looked completely lost, like soone had just pulled the ground out from under his feet.
After all, he had never co across anything like this before.
Throughout the whole book, there was never any ntion of Crypian’s system not working.
And the regression ability... even the previous Julius, who was so powerful, could never find a way to stop it.
Yet here it was, broken. Malfunctioning right in the first arc of the novel. It felt impossible.
"Julius?"
Rosalina, who had been staring at him the whole ti, suddenly spoke up.
Her voice broke through his heavy thoughts and pulled him out of his daze.
"Do you know what this ans?" she said. Her voice was brimming with joy.
She could not hide her happiness.
Without thinking, she jumped forward and wrapped her arms around him in excitent.
"We can kill him without worrying about the regression!! Do you understand it? How big of a boon this is?"
Julius held her back to support her weight. He looked up at her bright, excited eyes.
For a few seconds, he did not know what to say.
His mind had been spinning in circles for so long, thinking again and again about how he could kill Crypian once and for all.
He had worried about the regression ability coming back to ruin everything.
But now... it was served right in front of him.
It was really hard for him to believe.
"We can get rid of him once and for all. And once we get rid of him, we will gradually get rid of my family..."
Rosalina said this with pure joy.
Her cheeks turned bright red from sheer excitent.
She grabbed Julius’s face with both hands and started kissing him again and again, unable to hold back her happiness.
"Rose... Rose..." Julius muttered as he slowly pushed down his own shock.
"Listen..." he said between her quick kisses.
But she kept going, too excited to stop.
"We need to think this through," he said.
His tone turned careful and serious.
He reached out his hand and gently stopped her kissing streak by holding her face.
"Listen, we can’t get complacent just because he doesn’t have his system," he continued.
His voice beca a bit cold. "Even without the system, he has heaven-defying luck."
He looked straight into her eyes so she would understand how important this was.
"We need to be cautious. First, take out the robes and the mask from the ring!"
Julius grabbed her waist with both hands and gently placed her back on the ground.
The mont Rosalina’s feet touched the floor, she nodded right away.
She reached out her hand and channeled a little mana into her ring.
A soft glow appeared, and from the ring she pulled out two black robes and two creepy smiling masks.
The masks looked strange and unsettling, they had wide, fixed smiles that sent a chill down the spine.
The black robes were simple but dark, perfect for hiding their identities.
These were the masks Julius had bought for his anomaly identity.
He had also brought one for Rosalina so they could do their secret work without anyone recognizing them.
Julius grabbed one set right away and quickly changed into the black robe.
Rosalina did the sa.
Once they had fully changed into their new get-up, Julius spoke through the mask.
His voice ca out low and slightly muffled.
"Listen," he said, "no matter what happens, don’t speak in your normal voice."
He spoke the last words in a slightly different tone to show her how it should sound.
"Okay!" Rosalina replied. She also changed her voice on purpose.
It now sounded like a mature woman, calm, deep, and nothing like her usual soft tone.
Julius gave her a small satisfied nod.
The creepy mask made even that small nod look strange.
"And no matter what, do not use the spells from your family or the ones you use regularly, okay?"
He added, his voice still careful and serious behind the mask.
Rosalina stood quietly for a mont in her black robe and creepy smiling mask.
She looked at Julius and spoke in her new mature voice.
"Yeah, I know. You told to create so already," she said.
Julius had told her to make new spells for this hidden identity.
All the spells she normally used were well-known because of her family.
The sa problem existed for Julius.
So both of them had worked together and created fresh spells that only their anomaly identities would use.
"And whatever happens, stay with ," Julius continued.
"We can’t let our guards down. We will try to kill him to the best of our abilities. However, if he survives, then we must not get exposed."
Julius knew exactly what kind of person Crypian was.
He was the perfect example of a main character in a story.
His luck was sky-high to the point where killing him felt almost impossible.
With his system working normally, he was like an immortal god. But now the system was broken.
Still, Julius did not want to take any risks without full confirmation.
He would keep his identity completely hidden and try to kill Crypian.
Without the system, it should be easier.
But if that protagonist luck kicked in at the last mont, even their strongest spells might fail to finish him.
Julius stayed silent for a few seconds, lost in these heavy thoughts.
The creepy mask hid his serious expression completely.
"Are you ready?" Julius asked, finally snapping out of his thoughts.
His voice ca out steady but careful through the mask.
Rosalina gave him a short, firm nod.
"Yeah," she replied in her mature woman’s voice.
Her creepy smiling mask stared straight at him, but her eyes behind it looked sharp and determined.
The two of them stood side by side now, fully dressed in their black robes and unsettling masks.
They looked like two dangerous shadows ready to strike.
Julius took one slow step forward.
"Let’s go," he said quietly.
