Now reading: Chapter 96: Country Life from Villains Act Shamelessly: The Heiress was the Great National Master!, a Romance novel by Gui Mushuang.

"Before you arrived, didn’t you know that fireworks are prohibited in Aethelgard?"

Landon Ford asked her this question while driving.

"I vaguely rembered," Thea Shaw regretted, "In our countryside, there’s no ban, so I just assud Aethelgard would be the sa..."

Hearing her ntion the countryside, Landon asked, "What kind of place was it where you stayed in the countryside?"

What kind of place could nurture a person as wonderful as Thea Shaw?

"The countryside, huh..."

It was sothing from a long ti ago in her mory. Now, as she recalled, mories seed to gradually return, inadvertently bringing back things from the past in the countryside.

"Our countryside was just an ordinary small town, with a nice environnt, beautiful mountains and rivers, and great neighbors. Walking down a street, everyone knew each other. I grew up there, plain and simple."

Nothing earth-shattering happened, and there were no great ambitions.

Even before deciding on a future path, she suddenly learned about her dramatic true parentage.

It turned out she was supposed to be the daughter of the Sutton Family in Aethelgard.

She had known from a young age that she wasn’t the biological child of her adoptive parents; Mrs. Blair never hid it from her.

However, with such different upbringing environnts, she never entertained any illusions about her biological parents, not even thinking about how wealthy they might be.

Sotis she even felt that her biological parents had abandoned her deliberately.

There were quite a lot of news stories about son preference at that ti; she thought it might be because they despised her for being a girl.

Before entering the Won’s Respect Country, Thea had to admit that when she learned about the Suttons, her feelings towards Mr. and Mrs. Sutton were mostly resentnt.

And for Aurora Sutton, who took her place, she couldn’t have any good feelings.

She thought, originally she should have been a rich lady, living a glamorous life like on TV, with the most beautiful clothes and endless pocket money.

Her ti in Qirenia indeed tempered her spirit, and she thought more after coming back.

Her adoptive parents treated her well. Although she didn’t enjoy much material superiority, she never wanted for basic needs.

At ho, she never did housework; whatever Chloe Shaw had, she had too. The Shaw Family provided her with the best within their ans.

Even though this was all a mistake, it happened, and at least she grew up happily, which is sothing to be grateful for.

Thinking about things from the town, Thea got enthusiastic and shared so childhood stories with Landon Ford.

"Our town’s river was so clean back then, but later got polluted. When we were little, we could catch fish and shrimp in the river, take them ho, and my parents would make a al out of them. Once, I slipped into the river and got soaked. They were new clothes my mom bought for , and I was scared she’d scold , so I ran to my dad’s workplace and went ho with him that evening. With him there, my mom would just yell a bit at most."

As she recounted these mories, her eyes shone. It was clear that her ti in the countryside had no negative impact, but rather carried a sense of nostalgia and carefree happiness. Landon listened quietly and then asked, "Would your adoptive mother hit you?"

"It’s normal; every naughty child got spanked there, at most just a smack on the butt. I hardly got spanked from childhood to adulthood."

If she had been beaten constantly growing up, she’d never have this kind of personality.

"Oh..." Landon pondered, "After you returned, do your adoptive parents plan to visit you?"
