Without reluctance, Grey brought his hand down decisively. The purple illusionary sword that had appeared over his head was also coming down right as soon as a eerie purple light appeared...
There was the clang of tal against tal, and Grey could be seen retreating after four steps backwards. A cold glint could be seen in his eyes at this mont as the purple light on his hand dimd.
Grey suddenly let out a wave of Forbidden Stream that stopped the spinning scythe with sharp, serrated edges. The entire blade was purple, and the handle was black and let out small wisps of miasma.
Grey felt his heart palpitate as he instinctively clutched his head and reeled away backwards, after gazing at the purple blade.
The sharp feeling in his head was the sa as looking at Divine creature. He felt as if his head would explode just from gazing at it.
In the sa mont, he felt a strong life and death crisis, and did not hesitate to bring out a talisman from his storage bag.
Back when he was being chased by the sea shark and other creatures, he had not brought out any items from his storage bag because he thought he could do without them.
The reason why he didn’t use them when Divine flas wrecked his spirit sea was because the flas entered his spirit sea through his perception from his eyes.
Most of the defensive talismans he had in his possession were all for blocking physical attacks. Only few were capable of blocking ntal or spiritual attacks, and even though they were, it was only to a small extent.
That was why the mont he felt a life and death crisis, he did not hesitate at all to throw out the talisman.
There was the sound of countless glass breaking in the next mont. And when Grey looked over, he saw the talisman he had thrown out turn into a transparent wall of light.
The transparent wall would keep shattering and breaking, but in the next mont another wall of light would appear and stopped the approaching scythe.
’That is definitely the soul of a Divine creature! And it is sentient just at the chubby cultivator said. But it’s intelligent is not that high. Because if it had high intelligence, it would have chosen to escape after coming out from the storage bag, instead of fighting .’
’But as a sentient being, it will still so level of danger and want to instinctively eliminate any threats it feels. But it’s main threat should be the chubby cultivator and not !? After all, am not the one that refined it’s soul. There must be sothing that triggered it to attack instead of going for the chubby cultivator!’
Grey quickly deduced in his head while the talisman he had threw out broke into pieces, the transparent walk fell apart only a second later and the scythe flew towards neck with great speed.
It looked as if it would behead him the mont it got close. Grey also felt that choking feeling as if he was at the executioner’s table as a chicken waiting to be slaughtered.
His mind slowed down as his body shuddered instinctively, in fear. Seeing his body nearly give up, Grey released a bit of the divine flas in his spirit sea which jolted his body back to life.
Grey felt his body move in super slow motion, the spinning scythe was also coming towards him in slow motion but its speed was faster, making it obvious that Grey wouldn’t be able to dodge anyti soon.
The Phoenix was also stunned at the sudden arrival of the new soul weapon, but when it saw that it was very close to beheading Grey, it did not hesitate at all to breathe out hot flas from it’s mouth.
The scythe that was said to contain the refined soul of a Divine creature paused for a split second, as if reacting to the divine flas of a divine creature.
It imdiately turned it’s attention from Grey to the flying Phoenix and spinned rapidly towards it.
Heaving a sigh of relief, Grey watched as the Phoenix fended off the scythe with it’s scorching hot flas.
It was also now that Grey grew slightly fearful of the Phoenix. He watched as the Phoenix breathe hot flas directly from its mouth that was capable of lting the ground in an instant.
But the sinister and eerie scythe did not seem to be fazed by it, and continued to slice decisively at the Phoenix. But the Phoenix, feeling enraged at the behavior of the scythe, cawed loudly and spat out flas that was even more hot than the previous ones.
And then finally, the scythe slowed down it’s relentless assault on the Phoenix.
As Grey felt the pressure over him lessen, and heat begin to radiate in all directions, he began casting several hand seals. Thin yellow inscriptions began forming in midair and took the shape of a complicated diagram.
With a silent sigh, Grey finished the hand seal and pointed at the flying scythe that was kept busy by the Phoenix and uttered a single word.
"Ice."
This was the second technique he had learnt after reaching the fifth level in the Forbidden Monarch art.
The technique implented the cold yin energy in his body, as well as his surroundings and directly turned it into ice.
It was also at this mont that Grey felt a familiarity of this art. He recalled Caster uttering the word ’Ice’, when he was forming his battle armor and domain.
The feeling as if the whole world was being covered in stacked ice occurred to him again. But this ti, he was the one casting the technique, and not a spectator watching in awe.
’So this is why I always feel so sort of familiarity with the captain, we are both practicing the sa cultivation art! But while I was still cultivating only the Sky Mist art, he was already cultivating the Forbidden Monarch art as well.’ Grey felt as if he had been hit by a revelation, but did not let his thoughts wander too far, as he implented the use of ’Ice’ in his battle against the purple scythe!
