Now reading: Chapter 144- Strange Melancholy from Void Cultivation, a Eastern novel by Lonesomefellow.

This continued for a long ti until the middle-aged man left. As the middle-aged man walked out the door, Grey’s face was furrowed into a frown. But he did not dwell on the matter any further and continued to sip on his wine casually.

His sallow expression was calm as he lazily listened to the gossip of other people in the bar.

After four hours passed, Grey returned back to the inn. He politely rejected the food served by the inn and continued to cultivate. After breaking through to the Ninth Level, Grey felt like he could go even longer without any food. Grey continued to cultivate like this until night ca. But he did not return to the sa bar when the moon ca.

Instead, he ca out from the inn and took a random direction and walked slowly. At this ti, the streets were mostly cleared of people. Only so people that beca disabled could be seen begging by the side of the road.

Seeing their pitiful appearances, Grey out his hand into his pocket and brought out several spirit coins. He then threw them inside bag towards the man with a disfigured face.

The man, who had been begging by the side of the road for hours, was stunned when Grey suddenly threw the small bag. When he grabbed it with his deford, he trembled when he saw the amount of spirit coins in it.

The spirit coins were nearly thirty!

Just as the disfigured man turned his head to thank the person, he did not see Grey anywhere in sight.

After searching for a couple of minutes, he excitedly grabbed the small bag and entered a stall to buy food.

All of this was watched by Grey who hid in a dark corner of a building. When he saw the disfigured man buying food with the money, he did not say anything and turned to leave. He continued in the direction he was forrly going before.

Several minutes of walking, another bar appeared in his sights. The dim streets lights illuminated the front of the bar.

The reason why there was so many bars was because in this city, not many things went on. Aside from the usual deaths and other atrocious activities, the cultivators here were bored most of the ti.

And with the strange location of their city, they could not afford to wantonly vernture out.

Also, the population of male cultivators in this city far outnumbered that of won. After all, to most won, the act of cultivating was such an odd and depressing activity. They could not bear to sit down crossed-legged in one position for several hours, much more cultivating silently for a few days. Most experts could even spend weeks without moving, all the while silently cultivating. But only those old monsters who were in the Spirit Core Formation realm or Nascent Soul Transformation ream could cultivate non-stop for weeks.

A normal Qi Accumulation cultivator could stay a few days without eating. Grey could stay for up to a week. While a Foundation Establishnt cultivator could stay for close to two weeks without eating at all.

This was one of the reason why females did not engage in cultivation.

And as for the n, since finding magic treasures was very rare and hard, and with them having no specific need for the Golden Syrup, they had to find other things to keep themselves busy.

That lead to them often involving in heinous activities and the likes. Actually, in Green City, bars were quite normal.

Grey continued to wander around in hopes of finding information that could help him to track down locations of Underground caverns.

This continued for two weeks until Grey finally had so information about a nearby underground cave that was said to lead to an underground cavern.

Slightly excited, Grey planned on visiting the cave the next day.

***

The next day, Grey’s sallow face and detached eyes could be seen staring at the mouth of the cave that was hidden quite a distance away from the city.

In the entire whistling fields, there were no mountains, and the only mountains that could be seen was close to Green City. It was also because of these tall mountains that Green City had not been swept away by raging sandstorms after all these years.

Grey found out so ti ago that the mountains had existed before the whistling fields was even created. At that ti, this lone mountain range was said to be the burial ground for a very strong human expert who had died during the battle that happened ten thousand years ago, between the Nine Emperors and the Divine existences that appeared after God descended.

After that, for so unknown reasons, this desert was turned into the Whistling Fields. And sandstorms and fierce rains raged on every ti, yet their exact patterns and purpose could not be predicted. Despite all this, Green City would not have existed if not for the protection it got from these mountains.

Now, Grey was standing before a cave opening that was behind the city and deep within the mountain range. This mountain ranges were the only places that were not completely covered in sharp sand.

In fact, the mountain range closely resembled a normal mountain. If only the vegetation that grew on it were colored green instead of a pale yellow.

Grey did not mind this as he stared at the top of this mountain. The peak of this mountain was so high up that he couldn’t hope to see it.

Even when he sparingly used Dragon eyes with a bit of apprehension, he still couldn’t see the top. It was like a veil was covered before it, making it impossible for anyone to see the top.

The mountains were densely packed, their peaks close together. From a distance, they looked like the claws of a colossal beast slowly awakening. Mist curled around the summits despite the lack of clouds, giving the range an eerie, foreboding presence.

Despite the lack of clouds, there was so mist at the peak of the mountains, which gave it a sowhat mysterious feeling of dread and apprehension.

If a normal person were to look at these mountain peaks right now, they will be filled with awe, but their bodies would also be shuddering violently in fear.

After seeing all this, Grey let out a long sigh. In the deepest part of his heart, he felt he had so sort of connection to this mountain range. In fact, he even felt a hint of lancholy, which made his sigh sound like a sigh of sadness.
