The illusory doorway that appeared was like a bridge to an unknown world. Even when it was closed, it felt as though terrifying monsters lurked on the other side, waiting in silence.
This door reminded Grey of the existence within the small door he had seen on the female corpse’s chest.
The mont it was summoned, the door flew open as if beckoning them inside. Grey felt cold wisps of energy brush against his face the instant it opened, seeping into his skin and making his scalp tingle.
As soon as the door opened, the captain revealed a determined expression and stepped inside without hesitation. Grey did not waste any ti either and quickly followed after her.
The mont they entered, the illusory door slamd shut and began to disappear like shattering ice. As it vanished completely, the trembling of the headless corpse also stopped.
So did the faint feeling of revival. It slowly sank back into a deep, suppressed slumber under the oppressive runes carved into the altar.
The fog from the starry world also appeared and slowly, the altar and the headless corpse disappeared from and from existence.
---
When Grey and Violet appeared again, they found themselves within a labyrinth of crimson. The walls bulged grotesquely, like swollen sarcomas, and everything around them radiated the heavy stench and sensation of death.
Their bodies even began to wither slightly as their life force was siphoned away by the environnt. However, Grey activated the purple crystal within him, its energy circulating through his ridians, while the captain released thick black smoke from her body, clutching her black spear tightly in her hand.
Although everything around them was quiet, the silence was deeply unsettling. It felt as if countless unseen eyes were watching them from within the fleshy walls.
"Your friend should have reached this point..." Before the captain could even finish speaking, another illusory door appeared nearby. This one, however, was dilapidated and cracked, as though it would collapse at any mont.
A loud roar erupted from the door as a red figure leapt through it. The mont she entered, a terrifying aura surged outward and rushed toward the fragile doorway.
But perhaps because it was already on the verge of shattering, or because the one who summoned it had already passed through, the door broke apart on its own. The only thing that managed to slip inside was the lingering, enraged roar of the creature beyond.
The person who appeared was Roxanne.
Panic was written across her pale face, and her entire body was covered in cuts and bruises. Many parts of her clothes were torn, revealing patches of fair skin beneath. Despite her battered appearance, however, there was also a faint trace of excitent in her eyes.
After dusting off her clothes, she revealed a gentle expression toward Grey and rely gave a curt nod to the captain.
The captain chuckled softly when she saw this. "Did you find the item you were looking for?"
The mont she said this, Roxanne’s expression twisted into one of terror before her gaze suddenly turned sharp and cold.
In the next instant, she transford into a raging wall of flas that surged toward the captain with violent intent. The captain quickly gripped her spear and attempted to retreat beyond the range of the blazing inferno.
But the captain had only manifested three balls of Spirit Fire at most, while Roxanne was at the peak of the Foundation Establishnt realm. Even during the tis she had fought and protected Grey, she had never revealed her full strength.
Grey was unclear as to why Roxanne would suddenly attack the captain, but he was certain it had sothing to do with the item the captain had promised her.
"W-wait! Calm down!" the captain hurriedly shouted, attempting to reason with Roxanne, but only a cold snort echoed from within the raging wall of flas.
A second later, the inferno completely engulfed the captain. After several breaths’ ti, muffled explosions rang out from within the flas before they gradually collapsed inward, condensing back into Roxanne’s figure.
She looked at the captain coldly before walking over to stand beside Grey.
As for the captain, parts of her flesh were scorched, and most of her clothes had been burned away. However, aside from the superficial injuries, she seed relatively fine.
"Wait. Didn’t I say there would be many dangers? But in the end, you still got the item you were looking for, right?" the captain spoke helplessly, forcing a strained smile.
A cold snort escaped from Roxanne. "If the level of danger you spoke of referred to a broken divine creature, how did you expect to survive?" Her voice was icy and laced with venom.
When the captain heard this, she was montarily stunned before revealing an awkward smile as she slowly turned to look at Grey.
Grey did not say anything, but his expression was as cold as ice.
"Anyways, since you have arrived, let’s do the main thing and snatch that eye!" the captain said with an excited expression on her face, her eyes practically shining.
Grey also revealed an expression of anticipation. After all, the mont when he would beco stronger was rapidly approaching, and he could almost feel it within reach.
Right now, the levels of Roxanne and the captain greatly surpassed his own. Although he possessed one ball of Spirit Fire and could completely suppress those with one ball of Spirit Fire and below, he could even fight against, and potentially defeat, those with two balls of Spirit Fire.
But if he faced soone with three balls of Spirit Fire, he was not certain what the outco would be. If the other party was weaker or not in peak condition, perhaps he could hold his ground for a while. However, victory would not be guaranteed.
So at this mont, what he desired most was to increase his strength and recover his lost techniques.
He was eagerly looking forward to this major plan they were about to execute.
The captain grinned when she saw Grey’s expression of anticipation. "But first of all, let explain what the plan is." Her playful look faded, and her expression turned serious.
"Above the Nascent Soul Transformation realm and the Nirvana realm lies the Soul Ascendancy realm. There are very few cultivators on the entire continent who have reached this realm. At this level, these cultivators can be considered gods to a certain extent. Their re presence can suppress vast regions."
"A Nirvana realm cultivator uses the power of the world to interfere with the laws of the world. Through this, they can bend the laws according to their will." She paused briefly before continuing. "But a Soul Ascendancy realm cultivator takes this to an entirely different level. Instead of rely borrowing the power of the world, they create a miniature world inside their sea of consciousness."
"This world is called their Dinsionless Reality. Once a Soul Ascendancy realm expert successfully creates a world, one eye is ford. This eye can represent many things, but it corresponds to the type of world that exists within their sea of consciousness."
The captain paused to look at the two of them.
Grey was listening with full concentration. This was entirely new knowledge to him, and every word felt like a key unlocking a higher understanding of cultivation.
Roxanne, on the other hand, did not appear overly surprised. However, she still listened carefully, her gaze steady and thoughtful.
Seeing their reactions, the captain felt a trace of pride rise within her.
"The maximum number of worlds that a Soul Ascendancy realm expert can create is six. Of course, there are rare cases where soone creates fewer worlds, but six is the absolute limit that anyone can achieve. Creating more than six would put unbearable strain on their soul and could even cause their existing worlds to collapse."
She crossed her arms as she continued.
"The reason I’m telling you all of this is because the expert we are about to plunder possesses six eyes, which ans he created six worlds during his Soul Ascendancy realm. Each eye represents a different concept and power."
The captain scratched her head with a slightly regretful expression.
"If not for the fact that stealing two eyes could directly trigger the expert’s revival, I would have taken at least two. But let’s keep the objective simple and safe."
Her eyes glead with excitent once more.
"We’re going to steal the Eye of Fate from that Soul Ascendancy expert!"
Unlike before, Grey was not as shocked as he had been the last ti. Instead, a thoughtful expression appeared on his face. After a mont of silence, he slowly spoke.
"Is the expert we’re about to plunder the giant head with six eyes?"
When Grey finished speaking, the captain smiled spuriously.
"Good. You rembered. That giant head belongs to the Headless Corpse on the altar. Without its head, its chances of revival are extrely low, especially since the altar is suppressing its body, and the fog from the starry world keeps erasing it from existence, little by little."
The captain then shook her head.
"But that’s not the main problem right now. Even though we can see the head, it actually exists in another dinsion, far beyond our reach. Unless we are in the Soul Ascendancy Realm, it’s impossible to cross over into that dinsion..."
As she spoke, the captain slowly turned to face Roxanne. A faint smile curved on her lips.
"But that’s where you co in. You have an item that allows dinsional travel, sothing capable of tearing through spatial barriers and reaching that hidden plane. With it, we can cross over and approach the head."
Her eyes sharpened with resolve.
"After that, you’ll follow my lead... and we’ll steal one of its eyes."
Once again, the captain’s expression hardened with unmistakable determination.
