“Like your mother,” said Huo as he stormed away from her, with his profile slowly diminishing into the darkness of the night.
Lu Zhaoyang stood still like the Amah Rock, with tears soundlessly dripping off her slightly smudged make-up. A few moments later, she began rubbing her lips with her fingers, trying desperately to remove the bloodstain as her legs slightly trembled at the thought of her dreamboat so far, faraway. On her way back, she thought a lot, although those thoughts felt more like the white noises in her blanked mind.

Feeling salvaged, she walked up the stairs, reckoning another trial awaiting her inside her room. She turned the doorknob of her room.
It was a fortunate discovery that Huo Chen was not there, who had probably left the mansion for the night. To her surprise, it was Madam Xue on the sofa instead. Lu’s eyes enlarged, before she pulled her expression straight.
Her mother bolted up from the sofa, “Yang Yang…” Upon looking at her haggard daughter with wounded lips, swollen eyes and the dried stream of tears on her cheeks, she dawdled to Lu and led her to the sofa, “What happened to your lips? Why are you crying?”
“I-I’m fine, mommy. I just bit on my lips accidentally while I was taking a walk out there, though I felt I was overreacting tonight… Well, you know your daughter. I am very weak to pain so I cried when I bled.”
She forced her smile but her smudged face was suggesting otherwise.
“I see…” Madam Xue was fully convinced, knowing her daughter’s weakness to pain. She caressed the freezing hand of her daughter carefully.
“Sweetie… would you mind telling your mommy… if you know the second master before this…?” Their interaction blatantly did not look simple as between acquaintances to her. Lu had foreseen the inquiry—Huo Chen was overdoing his care as her boyfriend, as he basically gave himself away when he demonstrated his knowledge even on her likings.
She could have fabricated a good lie but she was too drained to be the friendly star at a media press, “I don’t.” Lu let go of her mother’s hand and directly headed to the bed. She took off her slippers, “Mother, I’m tired. So, good night.”
Madam Xue sighed upon seeing her daughter sinking into her blanket. She had a lot of questions to ask but the press was apparently off. “Maybe I was overthinking…” She muttered.
