It was a 40-minute drive before Lu Zhaoyang spotted the large cherry drawn on an oak sign with name of the plantation written in colorful and childishly drawn letters. The place was filled with people, pairs or a family of them. No one really visited the cherry plantation alone it seemed.
Except for Lu Zhaoyang herself.
Technically there were no entry fees, no tickets. Visitors could simply go in during the operation hours and pluck all the cherries they liked but they had to pay according to the weight of their “harvest”, of course.
The cherries were known to be of premium quality and Zhaoyang must agree they smelled and —tasted pretty good, judging from the expression of the people who sneaked a few cherries into their mouth. The price was “premium” as well.
Zhaoyang picked a basket at the counter and sauntered along the narrow, dense rows of cherry shrubs. The trees closest to the entrance were obviously all stripped of what they had. So she could only head beyond the shelter, deeper towards the mountain.
She felt sorry for those visitors who lingered at the front part of the plantation as she saw these juicy and beautiful rubies scattered deep in the forest. The scenery was gorgeous, the cherries were huge and most importantly there were not many people to spoil her moment.

She thought.
“Ahhhhhh!!” It was a scream that shocked her from the back. She let go of the cherries on the tree next to her and turned only to see Yan Se with a basket as well.
“Are you trying to fright me dead?” Zhaoyang sighed in relief as she looked down, “Did you e straight over here? Why have you not plucked anything?” The basket was empty.
“I did. Just that they all went into my mouth.” Like a hamster Yan Se was, indeed. The lady bodyguard felt starstruck the moment she noticed the basket full of cherries in Zhaoyang’s hand, “Ma’am…”

Haven’t I told you to not head outside? There are so many people around here!
“Well, I love cherries too. I just wanted to collect some fresh ones to make wine out of them. Oh wait, maybe some cake, jam too.” The young boy had to cook not only for him but for the Chen Jiu too!
Cherry wine? Cherry cakes? Cherry jams?
The keywords rang like muse to Yan Se’s ears.
Yan Se loosened his grip slowly, “My rade, may I join you at your base?”

“I think you should help yourself first,” said Zhaoyang as she picked up the empty basket for him, “Yan Se, help him out.”
“Why me? He’s here, maybe that Jiu guy is here too! I must protect you!” Said Yan Se as she marched to Zhaoyang’s side. Her eyes were sharp and focused all upon Lu Bai though her lips grooved near Zhaoyang’s ears, “Can you ask him to share me some of his cooking after he’s done?”
