Mo Ning promptly sprinted outside with her books before the other students swarmed upon their seats. She picked the isolated and winding path outside the pound—a detour back to the building after loafing around for a good half an hour.

“Mo Ning, you having a walk?” Huo Run greeted her. The white casual outfit was extra eye-catching under the sun that somehow Huo Run’s feet moved towards her on their own.
“Yeah.”
“Okay.” They strolled along the walkway under the trees, “Well, congratulations, top student,” said Huo Run while giving a look at Mo Ning.
“Thanks.” Mo Ning smiled, “Congratulations to you too, the student who gets topped by me.”

Okay, that sounds—very wrong.
Huo Run wanted to return Mo Ning a glare yet Mo Ning’s puppy eyes lustered in mischief were too attractive to offend. Her heart raced but she got to act normal, “I just wanted to know if you have somebody else in your family, like a sister or a brother. Don’t get me wrong, it’s just…just a random question. Nothing else.”
“Hmmm…” Mo Ning responded calmly even though she was sneering on the inside. That question only informed her that Huo Run had yet been convinced by her background.
“Okay! Shut up if you want.” The awkward silence angered the princess.
“Well, I only have a mother.” Mo Ning put one hand into her pocket as she straightened her body to look formal, “I’ve been living in Country Y for the past 18 years, even though my mother originates from Country Z. She brought me here as a way to revisit my roots, she said. Is there anything else you would like to know? I’ll tell you everything I know.”
Huo Run rolled her eyes, “Nothing. There’s nothing I want to know about you. Hmph.”
“Really?” Mo Ning chuckled and they both proceeded walking in silence. The wind of the season stroke their faces like a gentle mother but there was one particular breeze that messed up Mo Ning’s fringe. She smiled as playful as a child, watching her hair dancing before her eyes while she tried to tame them.
That one moment was captured by Huo Run’s glance. She could hear her heart beating.
He’s just a simple boy.
The statement rang in her head.
What is this feeling?
People have been going after me since I was born. I don’t have to initiate anything. I don’t have to plea someone for something. I once thought Mo Ning would e after me by hook or by crook.

“Stop.” Mo Ning’s cold voice brought her back to reality.
“Mhm?” Huo Run held her steps and watched the pretty boy reach his hand towards her. Her eyes enlarged dramatically as she held her breath for a moment. She then closed her eyes, her body mysteriously froze.

“There’s a leaf on your head.” Huo Run opened her eyes again only to see a little maple leaf fluttering in Mo Ning’s grip.
Ugh! What was I thinking?!
“Did you just blush?” Asked Mo Ning with one brow raised.
Shut up!
“…” Huo Run gave Mo Ning a hideous glare before storming away from the scene.
Mo Ning chuckled and tailed after her with a haunting whisper uttered by her lips,
“Don’t get mad, how about we go somewhere tonight?”
“…”
Huo Run refused to speak till the boy added, “Golden City. Only the two of us.”
Huo Run continued making a few steps ahead before she stopped and agreed, “O-okay.”
“Say…School gate, 7 o’clock tonight?”
“Okay.” Mo Ning watched the girl leaving the place before pletely putting her plastic smile away.
She was cold, unlike before.
