Chapter 307: Enemies at Jade Pool

Jade Pool Holy Land — Dungeon.

“So that’s how it is. What I truly needed were these colorless, tasteless powders that can mask the scent of other ingredients.”

Dan Yun had just attempted to refine a batch of low-grade Primordial Heaven-nding Pills.

But this batch had effects opposite to the original — not only did it have no healing properties, it even exacerbated existing foundation damage. For cultivators with no such damage, however, the pill had no effect at all.

Her original intent was to craft a poison pill that indiscriminately hard the foundation.

But then she heard that Real Person Yuyao had already found a vessel for the Five Supre Spiritual Body’s soul possession.

That ant one of the Primordial Heaven-nding Pills was surely ant for that vessel.

And since Real Person Yuyao wanted to seize the Cangyun Realm's most gifted physique to break into the Immortal Gate, the demands on the vessel’s Dantian would be extrely high.

So, Dan Yun chose to scale back the pill's destructive range — making the damaging effect target only those with already weakened foundations — like Real Person Yuyao.

With that narrowed scope, the number of auxiliary ingredients needed would be reduced, and the difficulty of refinent lowered.

The next step was incorporating part of the base ingredients from Flavor Dragon Spicy Strips to completely mask the scent of the supplentary materials — resulting in the pills before her now.

“This new pill has the opposite effect of the Primordial Heaven-nding Pill, so it shouldn’t keep the sa na. What should I call it?” Dan Yun pondered aloud as she popped one into her mouth.

It lted instantly, with a flavor indistinguishable from the original Heaven-nding Pill.

Since her own Dantian and ridians were intact, the pill had no effect — neither harmful nor beneficial.

It was like eating nothing at all.

“No, this won’t do. Real Person Yuyao is too suspicious. What if she tests it on soone...”

Dan Yun cald herself, narrowing her eyes.

She would refine one single top-grade Primordial Heaven-nding Pill first — and only one.

This way, Real Person Yuyao would assu it was extrely difficult to produce and wouldn’t casually use it for testing.

Alongside that, Dan Yun would prepare a small batch of low- and mid-grade pills — around a dozen — with no tampering.

Because Real Person Yuyao was likely to test the pills.

Even from inside this dungeon, Dan Yun occasionally heard bits and pieces of Real Person Yuyao’s usual style — cautious to the extre when it ca to achieving immortality. She not only tested pills herself but would try them on both normal cultivators and those with damaged Dantians.

And where would she find cultivators with ruined Dantians?

The Jade Pool dungeon was full of them.

“This pill will be called Immortal Severing Pill.”

Dan Yun’s lips curled into a mocking smile.

Let those who dream of immortality lose that chance forever.

The na Immortal Severing Pill fits perfectly.

“Sect Master Zhou, please, there’s no need for this between us.”

Chen Huaian smiled warmly, raising his hand to gently support Zhou Xuanzi, who had gone pale from shock.

How delightful. Everything was proceeding just as planned.

Spreading the spicy strips through the Dan Sect and Lingxi Valley wasn’t just about making money for the Sword Pavilion.

He had another goal — a hidden one:

To completely bind Lingxi Valley and the Dan Sect to his own cause.

In fact, Yun Baiyu, the Valley Master of Lingxi Valley, had already expressed her intent to follow his lead.

But Chen Huaian didn’t trust re words. Talk was cheap.

Real leverage ca from interests and pressure.

Beyond those two sects, every other sect in the Cangyun Realm was also on his radar.

And things were unfolding exactly as he anticipated — he had deliberately spread the word that the spicy strips were products of the Sword Pavilion, distributed through the Dan Sect and Lingxi Valley. As expected, the Jade Pool Holy Land now blad both sects.

If he guessed right, a Lingxi Valley disciple would soon rush in with news that they too had been surrounded by Jade Pool.

[Ten, nine, eight...]

Chen Huaian silently counted down.

[Seven, six... five—]

Right on cue.

A female cultivator from Lingxi Valley stumbled in, collapsed to her knees before Yun Baiyu, and said in a trembling voice:

“Valley Master, terrible news! I just received word—our Lingxi Valley has been surrounded by Jade Pool Holy Land. They demand your imdiate appearance for confrontation!”

Chen Huaian squinted slightly.

Perfect.

It was like everything had been rehearsed. Yun Baiyu froze montarily, then quickly turned and looked at him with pleading eyes.

When it ca to facing Jade Pool’s Void Fusion Realm powerhouses, only this Sword Pavilion Patriarch had the strength to stand against them.

“Senior...”

Before Yun Baiyu could finish, Chen Huaian stood up and waved his hand sharply, his face turning stern:

“Valley Master Yun, say no more. The Jade Pool Holy Land is arrogant and domineering, with even a record of persecuting disciples from other sects. You and Sect Master Zhou are both allies of the Sword Pavilion. Now that my allies are in danger, how could This Venerable One, as the Sword Pavilion Patriarch, just stand by and do nothing?!”

Mo Shui, hearing this, narrowed her eyes and muttered inwardly: What a clever move.

His speech sounded righteous, but it had essentially publicly roped the Dan Sect and Lingxi Valley into Sword Pavilion’s camp.

And it also sent a ssage to other sects and smaller powers:

The Sword Pavilion protects its own.

Of course, whether this speech achieved its intended effect depended on whether this Sword Pavilion Patriarch could actually handle the Jade Pool forces.

“You two—do you know the cultivation level of the intruders from Jade Pool?” Chen Huaian’s gaze landed on the two disciples who had co to report.

It was the first ti they were being questioned directly by a Void Fusion Realm powerhouse — and not just any, but the famous Sword Pavilion Patriarch himself.

The two Foundation Establishnt disciples were so nervous they just stood there dumbly.

“What are you waiting for? Answer the Patriarch’s question!” Zhou Xuanzi hurriedly urged.

“R-Reporting, Patriarch!” the Dan Sect disciple dropped to his knees and stamred: “This junior’s cultivation is low and I couldn’t discern their realms. I only saw an old woman in red, standing atop a flaming lotus. Her magic weapon seed to be a fan wreathed in fire.”

The crowd’s expressions shifted.

As sect leaders and elders, they had so knowledge of Jade Pool’s notable figures.

“That must be Real Person Red Lotus, one of Jade Pool’s Grand Elders,” Zhou Xuanzi said with wide eyes and a grim face. “She’s a peak Seventh Stage of Void Fusion... For Jade Pool to send soone like her—how can we possibly stand against that?”

Peak of the Seventh Stage?

Chen Huaian snorted—just a roadside boss.

He turned to the Lingxi Valley disciple: “What about on your side? Who ca?”

“Reporting, Patriarch, I saw several figures standing in the clouds. The one leading them was a female cultivator in a pale yellow gown. I couldn’t make out her face, but she stood on multicolored clouds and had a white deer beside her. Her weapon appeared to be a long flute.”

“A white deer and a flute...” Yun Baiyu murmured with a bitter smile.

“That must be the one known as Flute Fairy—the Head of Jade Pool’s Qiongyin Pavilion. Her rank is equal to Real Person Red Lotus, but she’s even stronger. She reached the Eighth Stage of Void Fusion five hundred years ago...”

“So now we’re basically dealing with one peak Seventh Stage, and one pseudo-Eighth Stage of Void Fusion?”

Chen Huaian took two steps forward. His silver-blue hair whipped around wildly, his robes surging with turbulent sword energy.

At the sa ti, his Sixth Stage Void Fusion cultivation erupted into the air.

“Seems like it,” Zhou Xuanzi sighed in despair, leaning weakly against the wall. “Senior... maybe we should let this go. We’re no match for people at their level. And maybe... maybe Jade Pool didn’t co to pick a fight...”

“A foolish, wishful thought! Do you even believe that yourself?” Chen Huaian’s eyes flashed with icy light as he sneered.

“Heh. Just a couple of Seventh and Eighth Stages and you're already losing your nerve?”

“Fine then…”

Everyone stared in confusion.

Chen Huaian placed both hands behind his back.

Then, his aura surged and he no longer concealed it.

“This Venerable One… will now ascend!”
