While Axion was occupied with commanding the fleet and clearing the sector, the colossal tendrils of Hive Fleet Leviathan were once again sighted by a scouting fleet.

This ti, the Great Devourer was thoroughly incensed. It had twisted three of its primary tendrils into a single, massive braid, sweeping across the entire sector in a transverse motion. It intended to flatten anything that dared obstruct its feast.

The imnse Titan's Spear detached itself from the main fleet, accelerating toward a coordinate point ticulously calculated by Axion. Already, the dark matter singularity chain-reaction array began its pre-ignition cycle.

At astronomical scales, the movents of Leviathan's tendrils achieved terrifying velocities. In such a sweeping arc, the kinetic energy at the tips of the tendrils threatened to breach the light-speed barrier within realspace.

As the countdown hit zero at the abyssal gulf on the sector's edge, a silent confrontation unfolded.

Countless singularities were seeded into the void, lying in wait for the arrival of the braided tendrils, which asured over thirty light-minutes in width. Dinsion Collapse Bombs were concealed among them as a secondary contingency; should the Hive Mind's bio-mass manage to tear free from the gravitational pull of the miniature black holes, the spatial charges would detonate instantly.

Only when black radiance ignited within the dark gulf did the Imperial forces finally behold the true scale of the horror sweeping toward them. Panic rippled through the ranks of the mortals.

However, the scene that followed defied all comprehension.

Just as the tip of the hive-tendril was poised to graze the sector's edge, its montum was violently arrested. It appeared to recoil, bucking against the void. Dark singularities erupted in the gulf, pinning the entire bio-structure to the sector's periphery. Titanic surges of energy and spatial collapses flooded the stars.

Psionic light flared brilliantly across the gargantuan tendrils as the Hive Mind fought to resist the crushing gravitational wells of the black light. Then, all witnesses beheld the most surreal sight of their lives.

A section of the three intertwined tendrils was suddenly flattened as if crushed by an invisible, cosmic wheel. Before their very eyes, the biomass transitioned from three-dinsional form into a two-dinsional sheet. Under the stress of the massive energy discharge, this two-dinsional plane began to fracture and dissolve into nothingness.

The forward sections of the three tendrils, now severed from their source, writhed frantically in the vacuum. It was an unforgettable nightmare. The severed mass of Hive Fleet Leviathan was, in aggregate, larger than a dium-sized star system, its mass beyond calculation.

The remaining portions of the tendrils retracted into the deep void as if they had vanished, recoiling back toward the galactic rim. Axion did not relent. He dispatched all available Heavy Strike Cruisers to pursue the retreating shadow. These severed remnants fled, frantically reclaiming Tyranid organisms from every system they passed until they vanished beyond the borders of the Segntum, retreating out of Imperial space entirely.

After detailing his flagship to accompany the pursuit, Axion redeployed the remaining Strike Cruisers. These vessels transitioned out of the Saphiris Sector, converging on the flank of the Titan's Spear. They began a systematic bombardnt of the severed bio-mass.

It was a process akin to extracting a parasite from skin.

The Strike Cruisers perford the "pre-cooking" phase. Fragntation Cannons delivered precision strikes against every orifice and spore-chimney on the tendrils to ensure no residual bio-ships or genetic material could escape. Then, plasma arrays began the foundational searing of the surface biomass.

Simultaneously, the industrial fleet assembled at the sector's edge, carefully avoiding the "Dead Zones" where energy from the doomsday weapons still fluctuated. Suddenly, the industrial vessels began to decompose as if lting. Silver liquid droplets interconnected in the void, forming a gargantuan, hollow ring structure. Its volu exceeded even that of the Titan's Spear, though its skeletal, open-work design kept its mass manageable.

This was a specialized gastructure once used to slt white dwarfs, designation SLR-09, known as the Star Forge. This terrifying construct could project heat across astronomical distances, functioning much like a localized cosmic microwave. To "grill" a bio-mass of this magnitude, Axion deed it the most efficient tool available. The nearby zones of chaotic energy served as an ideal buffer to absorb the radiant overflow. For Axion, it was the perfect site for a celestial "barbecue."

The massive hollow ring consisted of three parallel structures. Powered by the anti-matter cores of the industrial fleet, these rings began to function. Each layer rotated in opposition to the others. The surrounding Imperial crews watched in bewildernt until their ships' Machine Spirits began to scream piercing alarms.

"Massive high-energy radiation burst detected. Energy levels exceed sensor limits. Imdiate evasion advised."

Unlike conventional energy weapons, the effect of these hyper-dense rays was not explosive. Instead, they rapidly agitated the energy states within the target. When the energy reached the material limit of the biomass, spontaneous combustion occurred.

The three braided, severed tendrils of Leviathan began to transform. Organic matter carbonized and shattered; inorganic elents turned to molten slag. Under the crushing gravity of its own imnse volu, the liquid slurry began to contract and flow inward.

Soldiers stood agape as an artificial celestial body, larger and more grotesque than a supergiant star, ca to rest in the desolate gulf between the two sectors. None understood how such a tamorphosis had been achieved.

As Axion slted the gargantuan remains, Tyranid forces throughout Segntum Pacificus began a frantic withdrawal. The heavily savaged Leviathan had felt sothing it had never known since entering this galaxy: fear. A primal, chilling dread emanating from the hungry Shadow in the Warp.

Obeying the will of the Great Devourer, the swarms fled the Segntum. The Imperial fleets, sensing the shift, did not pursue blindly this ti. Instead, they dispersed splinter fleets to survey the aftermath.

The reports that returned were a litany of woe. Dozens of systems directly in the path of the tendrils had been reduced to barrens. The swarms were gone, but so were the trillions of Imperial citizens and every scrap of biological life. Entire sub-sectors were now silent Dead Zones, littered with the drifting debris of shattered ships.

The pursuing Heavy Strike Cruisers discovered that among the Imperial wreckage lay the remains of Aeldari vessels, pirate raiders, renegade warbands, and even the shattered hull of an Arks of On vessel. No one knew what those Chaos madn had intended, but they had been caught in the path of Leviathan's retreat. The Ark looked like a toy lashed apart by a whip.

The Iron n missed no opportunity for salvage. Several ships were detached from the pursuit to explore the silent, broken Ark.

As the terrifying shadow in the Warp began to recede, the Imperium started receiving astropathic distress calls from worlds long thought lost. Even in the fallen zones, survivors had maintained their resistance until the iron allies finally broke the back of the swarm.
