"Advance! Advance!!!" The Barbarian soldiers began charging toward the Nord Army positioned at the bridgehead.
Leading the charge were the lowest-ranked units among the Barbarians — the Barbarian Raiders.
"Fire!" Walnut Knight Nikolai, positioned behind cover at the bridge, was the first to draw his large bow from his back, then pulled a feathered arrow from his quiver. He took a deep breath and pulled the bowstring.
"Whoosh!" The first charging Barbarian Raider was struck right in the face by the arrow, letting out a wail before collapsing.
The crossbown followed Nikolai's lead and began firing one after another. In the blink of an eye, several of the foremost Barbarian Raiders fell dead to arrows, yet the Barbarian numbers were in the thousands; the dark mass of troops wouldn't scatter due to the fall of a few. The death of the few only doubled the ferocity of the Barbarians as they pushed into the battle line, indifferent to the death of their comrades.
However, the bridge was narrow, and the number of Barbarian soldiers that could reach the bridgehead was limited. The Long Halberdiers used simple thrusts to take the lives of one Barbarian Raider after another.
Most of the Barbarian army were crushed together, unable to charge not the bridge. In such a crowded situation, the individual combat skills of the Barbarians were of no avail, severely limiting their combat effectiveness. Every ti Barbarians reached the front row, the Nord Long Halberdiers' simple thrusts brought them pain and death.
So Barbarian Raiders attempted to wade across the ice of the Ovrel River, only to quickly realize their mistake... The ice of the Ovrel River was thinner than paper, breaking at a re touch. After several unfortunates fell into the water and beca live targets for the crossbown, no Barbarian soldiers dared set foot on the water again.
"Co on!" Laine wielded his hamr with both hands, sending three Barbarian soldiers flying with one strike. The Warhamr of the White Wolf Knight swung wide and strong. He first smashed a Barbarian Raider's head to spin twice, then single-handedly forced the charging Barbarian Raiders on the bridgehead into retreat.
"Fight!" Aik and Lops followed closely behind Laine, watching these Barbarians. Aik's eyes were blood red, desperate for glory to wash away his sha. The Wandering Knight didn't even use a shield, gripping his Longsword tightly as he bravely plunged into the enemy line.
Aik first faced a Mohican-haired Barbarian, with a string of teeth hanging on its body. He swung his sword unceremoniously, slashing horizontally. After the Longsword was blocked by a wooden round shield, it was directed toward the Barbarian's head. As the War Axe neared Aik's face, half of the Barbarian's head fell to the ground.
Lops, on the other hand, adopted a more cautious approach. He carefully hid behind his shield, using the solid Kite Shield to block incoming War Axes, then thrust his Long Halberd through yet another Barbarian.
The first wave of Barbarians that rushed to the bridgehead left over fifty corpses behind but failed to push the Nord Army's line back even an inch.
"Relay my order! Have the warriors fall back!" Bireg imdiately realized this wouldn't work, and he quickly ordered all the Barbarian Raiders to retreat. From the dark mass of the Barbarian army, many Barbarian Warriors in black furs erged, carrying nurous javelins and axes on their backs.
Seeing these Barbarian soldiers step forward, Laine sensed sothing was amiss. He quickly retreated, shouting to his soldiers, "Raise shields! Raise shields! Seek cover!"
Just as his words fell, the whistling Flying Axes and javelins drowned out Laine's voice. The White Wolf Knight stood firm, easily deflecting any weapon flying his way.
Across the river, a hail of javelins and Flying Axes battered the Nord Army's formation. Several crossbown, caught standing, were struck down by javelins and Flying Axes, collapsing instantly. On the bridge, the Long Halberdiers raised their shields in defense, two-handed swordsn like Aik and others also took cover within the shield array. Despite these precautions, several Long Halberd Soldiers perished in the attack, and many shields were deford under the massive impact.
"Counterattack!" After evading several waves of attacks, Nikolai signaled for the crossbown to retaliate. He himself drew his bow, and under his command, the crossbown fired at the Barbarian army across the river. Lacking armor, the Barbarian javelin throwers and axe throwers fell in droves.
The battle reached an impasse. The Barbarians struggled to dislodge the Nord Army firmly holding the bridgehead, while the Nords could not step outside their formation to engage the Barbarians in an unfavorable lee.
After several rounds of attacks and defenses, the Barbarians left behind over two hundred corpses, while the Nord Army lost over fifty n.
"Kuoloulin? Where are my champions?" Bireg showed no intention of joining the battle. The Barbarian Chief grinned, watching his tribal soldiers fall piece by piece. The death of the weak ones cheered him; his tribe didn't need the weak.
Yet Bireg deeply understood that his task was to destroy Mijordenhaven. To please the God of Darkness, he had to quicken his pace.
"Boom~ Boom~ Boom~" Heavy footsteps echoed.
Three towering figures, two ters tall, wearing imnse horned helts, fully armored in solid Chaos Armor, and wielding massive spiked hamrs, erged from the army. "Chief!"
"Destroy them! Advance!!!"
Thus, these giant Barbarian Warriors hefted their massive spiked hamrs, charging toward the Nord Army at the bridgehead.
It's the Barbarian Champion Warriors! Laine gritted his teeth. It was said that each of these Barbarian Champion Warriors had been blessed by the God of Darkness. They would continue to fight in the sight of the God of Darkness eternally, until they fell or their strength was acknowledged.
