The soldiers long for the pay, for the loot, and for advancent, and war is the only ans of promotion. No one wants to give up the chance to enlist, and all peasants dream of sending themselves or their sons into Count Laine's army in exchange for a promotion opportunity.
In the dark lives of the peasants, this is the only light of hope: joining the Infantry Corps, being promoted to sergeant, obtaining the identity of a Free Person, then moving into a castle and becoming a professional soldier. Families would also have the chance to move into towns, escaping their peasant status.
The peasants are far more eager for war than the knights.
It is already the army's second day in the forest, and they have successively wiped out three Beastman Warbands.
The forest is unsuitable for knightly charges; most knights are walking, while Wood Elves swiftly shuttle between woodland, and Dwarves complain incessantly. Those thick roots and thorns hinder their progress, and the dense fog obstructs their vision.
"Evil is always present in Charon Forest. Every night, goblins and Beastn appear in the forest. They are wicked at heart, hating any living being. Goblins might play with their prey before killing it, while the Beastman's rcy lies only in whether they take your life quickly or enjoy your struggle to death after cutting you in half." The knights' topic was different.
