As the knights of Brittania retreated in chaos and panic, the Holy Grail Knight Eisen led his remaining one hundred knights and over two thousand infantry to cover the rear.

They were soon overwheld by the tide-like barbarians. Holy Grail Knight Eisen paid no heed, continuing to wield his sharp sword, charging and slaying within the Barbarian Army.

Gradually, the number of knights around him dwindled. Eisen was surrounded by barbarians, fighting valiantly but outnumbered. The blessing of the Lake God shielded him from ordinary harm; however, a spear blessed by the Evil God treacherously ambushed him from behind. Eisen struggled to pull the spear from his body as more Chaos Chosen Warriors encircled him, several long halberds piercing through him. The righteous fury from the Lake God allowed the Holy Grail Knight to wield his sharp sword and cut down several Chaos Chosen Warriors.

Now, Eisen was breathing heavily. His consciousness began to blur as he stumbled alone, battling within the Barbarian Army while mories of his childhood floated through his mind.

He was born into a noble family in Leonais, a devout believer of the Lady since childhood. From a young age, he vowed to beco a glorious Holy Grail Knight.

His life was spent in training and hardship, finally earning the Lady's recognition during a twenty-year expedition, drinking from the Holy Grail Water.

Everything was given to by the Lady, and now I shall repay the Lady with all I have.

A War Axe struck from the side, cruelly interrupting Eisen's mories. Already wounded in many places, Holy Grail Knight Eisen appeared unstoppable. He gathered all his strength into one, chanting without hesitation the sacred na of the Lake Fairy: "For the Lady!"

The sword shone brilliantly as he broke through a Chaos Chosen Warrior's defense, the sharp sword deeply piercing into his chest.

At the sa ti, a War Axe delivered a fatal blow from behind, with Egil's cruel visage appearing before him.

Then his consciousness gradually faded, until it was distant.

The final resistance had vanished, leaving thousands of barbarians exulting in victory. They occupied the knights' camp, madly seizing the military supplies left behind, singing loudly, chanting the na of the God of Darkness. Thousands of heads were piled into a massive altar for a sacred sacrificial ritual.

Many Barbarian tribe chiefs were furious yet too afraid to speak against Egil's brutality. Their tribes suffered heavy casualties in today's battle. The Barbarian Army, numbering over thirty thousand, had reduced to just over twenty thousand, despite fifteen thousand knights from Brittania escaping. However, of the nearly nine thousand heavy cavalry who had fled, all were Brittania's elite.

Egil's ambition to decisively defeat the main force of the knight army in the field was not fully realized.

But it was of no consequence. What mattered was that the Blood God Khorne had observed the battle and rewarded his Divine Chosen Champion. Egil found himself filled with more blessings and mutations from Khorne, his existence evolving further.

This alone was reason enough to celebrate.

Now that the Brittania people had retreated, he was just one step away from achieving unparalleled glory and unparalleled fa — the complete capture of Leonais Castle. Egil noticed that Hengest's belly had grown large under repeated blessings from the Blood God, and as long as Leonais Castle fell, his son would be born.

He could then lead the army back to Skalings.

......

The remaining Knight Army fled day and night, taking two days to finally return to Leonais Castle. Now, only the high walls of the castle could provide the knights with a sense of security.

In the castle hall, Duke Dalheid of Leonais was wrapped in bandages, his face pale, left arm hung across his chest. The Lake God Prophet Anara and his Court Physician had just changed his bandages. The defeated Knight Army had nearly depleted the duke's dical supplies, with many wounded awaiting treatnt. Fortunately, the knights had managed to retreat without suffering catastrophic losses.

"Ugh~" Sitting on the duke's throne, Dalheid breathed heavily. The spiked War Axe of Egil had caused significant injury but missed vital spots. This level of pain was bearable, but fighting or commanding on horseback was no longer feasible: "Jules, I entrust the city's defense to you for this period."

"Two thousand elderly and infirm remain in the city, but thankfully we managed to retreat with enough knights." Jules responded seriously to Dalheid, saying: "My Duke, we must imdiately request reinforcents!"

"Reinforcents? Where else could reinforcents co from? Does the kingdom still have any troops?" Dalheid's eyes held a flicker of hope as he looked at Jules, wondering if Jules had any other forces to deploy.

"The South, the southern Dukes still have troops to spare. I've made contact with them, and if we call for help, Count Laine's army will imdiately co to our aid!" Jules presented Dalheid with a letter from Laine.

"...Laine?" Hearing Laine's na, Dalheid frowned instinctively. He was in the sa faction as Richard and did not hold Laine in high regard.
