A young lady with short golden hair and a rather delicate appearance rudely blocked the path of Laine and Alfred. Her face was full of disgust and annoyance: "Please leave imdiately, gentlen. This is a won’s tailor shop and fashion store, and unwelco n are not allowed. Haven’t your parents taught you the basic etiquette of nobility?"
"Oh! I almost forgot, Lord Laine, sorry, I forgot about your background. Apologies, I forgot. So let remind you again, this is Brittania, not Nord. Won are respected here! Since it’s your first ti making such a mistake, I won’t hold it against you this ti." Having said that, the lady, full of disdain, walked out directly, muttering under her breath as she left: "Really, t two things more disgusting than shit today."
"Who the hell are you talking about!" Alfred was furious, his face flushed, and he instinctively wanted to stop the lady.
"Calm down, Afu." A flash of silver spiritual energy flickered in Laine’s eyes as he reached out to stop Alfred: "Starting trouble in the city is not a wise move... Miss Fiona, my lady is inside, why can’t I go in?"
"Oh, this holy professional, why so agitated? Did I say you were the disgusting thing? Is this how your god taught you? Or... do you want to claim it for yourself?" The lady with a beret on her head let out a harsh sarcastic laugh and then ignored Laine and Alfred, striding out.
"Laine!" Alfred felt his reason being assaulted by anger. The Temple Knight forcefully pushed Laine’s arm aside: "She is insulting us!"
"Indeed, she’s insulting us." Laine’s voice was cold, his blue eyes swelling like an ocean, the Divine Chosen Champion of the Lake Fairy shook his head indifferently: "But at this ti, we must not beco angry easily. We control anger, not let anger control us."
"You’re right." Alfred took several deep breaths and cald down as well, with the Temple Knight’s endurance actually being quite strong: "So, she’s the Fiona you and Lady Surya ntioned?"
"Yes, that’s why we can’t make a move." Laine’s gaze gradually sharpened: "Fiona is also here... With the court in Borelion in such chaos recently, why would she attend this banquet?"
Fiona, the Duke Theodoric of Borelion’s most beloved granddaughter, had over five years grown into a woman just over twenty, yet her unruly and willful nature remained unchanged. Her words not only insulted Laine and Alfred but also indirectly insulted Laine’s foster parents!
It was well known that although Laine had the typical black-haired, blue-eyed appearance of an Imperial Aachen person, he was raised by the "bald" Norman couple from Nord. The Nord people were often despised in the Old World, and even Laine would jokingly call himself a Nord hillbilly.
Self-deprecation is one thing, being insulted by others is another.
Fiona insinuating Laine didn’t understand the rules was indirectly calling Laine uncultured.
Laine thought if Angerong heard this, he would have struck with an axe imdiately. However, Laine was not Angerong; he was much more rational. He knew that now was not the ti for anger. As the Lake Fairy’s Divine Chosen Champion, he was a model of the Knightly Path, which included not laying hands on won and children (limited to ordered humans).
A minor impatience would spoil great plans, and a hero faced with adversity swallows the bloodied teeth. In such a situation, being impulsive would only make things worse. This level of provocation couldn’t affect Laine; instead, the Count felt a sense of alertness rising in his heart. Fiona had dated Mathew Bade in Kulona’s windmill, and this woman was already on Laine’s blacklist. However, since Fiona indeed belonged to the Knight Family of the original twelve Holy Grail Knights, she was protected by the kingdom’s laws. Without major cris and conclusive evidence, Laine couldn’t even accuse her.
So why was she here?
The Count was still pondering the question when a voice ca from within the store, and a female Knight peeked out from behind the curtain, asking curiously: "Laine? What’s wrong?"
"Nothing." Laine shook his head, and seeing that Laine didn’t want to argue, Alfred’s previously indignant expression imdiately changed to a smile: "Just t a noble lady we know, and she seed to have finished shopping and left."
"Then co in, and help take a look at the clothes." Surya pulled up the curtain again, signaling Laine to go inside.
Laine patted Alfred’s shoulder and slipped sothing into the Temple Knight’s hand, whispering: "We can’t co on strong, but we can’t pretend nothing happened either, right, Afu?"
Alfred took what Laine handed over, and after seeing what it was, a mischievous grin spread over his face: "Oh! I like this way of solving things, don’t worry, we’re old hands at this."
"Then I’ll leave it to you~ I’ll head in first." With a wicked smile, Laine handed Alfred a slingshot, crafted by a Dwarf.
Watching Laine go inside, Alfred shrugged: "Alright, once you have a wife, you forget your brothers."
"Hmm, let see if there’s anything worthwhile..." Alfred looked around a bit, spotting a small dog relieving itself in a nearby alley. The Temple Knight’s eyes lit up: "Oh, thanks buddy, appreciate the freshly made material."
