But even so, amid the continuous output of the Spiritual Storm, the Black Chalice Knight and Laine went back and forth seven or eight tis. The consecutive engagents gradually gave Laine so confidence. Worried about his mount, he jumped off the warhorse and forced the enemy in front of him back with one swing of his warhamr.
He was firmly above the Black Chalice Knight in terms of strength, but that didn’t an he would necessarily erge victorious. His greatest concern was that the Black Chalice Knight might have so special move.
In many battles where the strong lose to the weak, a critical factor is the lack of knowledge. The strong are completely unaware of the skills or special moves the opponent might possess, leading to defeat.
Therefore, a wizard’s spell table is top-secret. Wizards will only share their spell table with those closest and most trustworthy to them.
Now, it’s ti to end the battle! Laine suddenly withdrew his Spiritual Storm. The massive energy and oppressive aura dissipated in an instant. The Black Chalice Knight fighting Laine stumbled, nearly falling down.
With supre martial skills and almost perfect bodily control, the Black Chalice Knight twisted his body at an incredible angle to escape the fragile balance brought by the loss of weight. Struck by Laine’s attack, he experienced a brief stiffening, and all he could do was defend with all his might.
The attack did not co from Laine’s side, though. A sword blade emitting white holy light pierced the Black Chalice Knight’s shoulder armor from the side, accompanied by an earnest voice shouting, "Holy Light Skill!"
Golden light illuminated the night sky, revealing the signs on both sides of the street to those fighting bravely. Temple Knight Alfred joined the battle from the side, wielding a sword and shield. The Holy Light Skill on his sword engulfed Laine and the Black Chalice Knight together.
The pure Light Energy of the Holy Light Skill finally severely wounded the Black Chalice Knight. The sword blade blessed by the God of Justice pierced through the black cursed plate armor, and a jet of black blood spurted out. The Black Chalice Knight groaned, ignoring the damage to his body, retaliated with a sword, flipping Alfred with his shield and all to the ground, then continued slashing, adding another mark to Alfred’s shield.
Alfred was knocked flying by the fierce attack, landing directly inside a bread store, with black bread falling from the counter and hitting his head, making the sound of a heavy object hitting tal.
"Ah~ Well, I wasted food. My Lord, I repent before you." The heavy blow from the Black Chalice Knight temporarily rendered Alfred unable to fight. The Temple Knight tried to get up, but the pain in his organs made him cough up blood: "It’s over, I can’t move. Laine~ it’s up to you!"
"Leave it to !" Alfred’s efforts were not in vain. When the Black Chalice Knight knocked Alfred down, Laine’s warhamr hit the Black Chalice Knight’s shoulder. The sound of bones shattering followed one after another. As the Black Chalice Knight’s remaining hand used his shield to strike at Laine’s face, Laine imdiately raised his warhamr to block, countering seamlessly.
The warhamr’s handle deeply embedded into the Black Chalice Knight’s cross helt. The Goddess of Revenge ca into view as the bleeding head was grasped by Laine: "For the Lady! For Brittania!"
"For the Lady!"
Victory cries quickly echoed around. Laine-Rio Cornwall’s forehead dripped with bright red blood, and several gaps appeared in his plate armor. Yet the Lion’s Spear pierced through his enemy’s head, indicating his triumph.
Another Black Chalice Knight slowly fell in the siege by Duke Bodric and his son, along with fifteen or sixteen Sea God Knights. At least a hundred wounds covered his body. To kill this Black Chalice Knight, Bodric unleashed "Manannan’s Fury" three tis, devastating half the street.
"It’s over." Confirming the enemy’s elimination, the wounded Duke Boldro Bodric shook his head and put away his Sea God Trident: "Manannan above, the infiltrator must be a vampire from Musillon, and most likely that self-proclaid Duke of Musillon, Mathew Bade."
"Only Mathew Bade and Witch Demon King Akhan can command the Black Chalice Knights." Lorne also put away his weapon, sighing: "Damn it, we’ve been fighting for so long. That infiltrator probably escaped long ago."
"Eliminating three Black Chalice Knights is already a remarkable achievent." Laine also put away his weapon, cautiously scanning around before shaking his head: "You’re right, Lord Lorne, the infiltrator should have fled. The whole city is in chaos, patrolling is virtually impossible; we should first stabilize the city and check the guest list."
"Mm." Duke Boldro Bodric was most infuriated by this, as his ticulously prepared banquet scene turned into his greatest sha. Feeling disgraced, Bodric addressed everyone: "Everyone, you’ve worked hard. Today’s banquet turned out like this is a disgrace for us in Boldro, but we will provide an explanation to everyone. My court physician will heal the wounded, and we in Boldro will also cover compensation for the fallen."
With the three Black Chalice Knights’ corpses turning to ashes under everyone’s gaze, Laine and the great nobles searched for traces of the infiltrator but found no clues, then left.
Left behind were about twenty knights cleaning up the scene, loudly commanding the peasant soldiers and sergeants to clear the site, leaving no possible traces unexamined.
The knightly nobility attending today’s banquet were from all the duchies across Brittania, most of whom did not know each other. They voluntarily stayed to clean up the scene.
After cleaning for a while, a young Ranger Knight scratched his head, opening his helt and complaining: "Guys, it was such an intense fight. Damn it, the banquet was forced to stop halfway. I haven’t eaten anything yet, and I’m so hungry."
"Hey, brother, why didn’t you get full at the banquet?" A Sea God Knight replied with a smile: "Leave this to us. You can go back inside the castle. There’s definitely enough food in the banquet hall, kitchen, and bar."
"That’s great, thanks, brother." The Ranger Knight thanked him repeatedly, perford a standard Brittania knight salute, and slowly left.
The remaining knights continued to clean the scene.
The Ranger Knight turned a couple of street corners and hid himself in the darkness, taking out a golden skull from his chest. This skull, having been used before, had lost all its magic power, and thus the tool Akhan left for his godson to save himself was broken.
Acknowledging the terrifying energy and countless battle knowledge returning from the deaths of the three Black Chalice Knights, Mathew Bade furrowed his brow in disappointnt. Losing three Black Chalice Knights was bearable, but coming away with nothing from Boldro was unacceptable.
Originally, if the fully ard Black Chalice Knights had stord the banquet scene, how could the armorless and weaponless nobility resist? Except for Laine and Bohemond, the only outco for the other nobles was death on the spot.
Ultimately, however, he failed. Failure requires no excuses; failure is simply failure. This was his godfather Akhan’s teaching: victory needs no logic, failure has no excuse.
Heading back to Musillon, Mathew Bade had just witnessed Laine’s prowess in combat. Understanding his own inadequacies, he felt the overflowing strength within himself. He planned to return to Musillon first for training and then act after fully absorbing all his powers.
Using his seamless disguise, Mathew Bade smoothly left the city, heading towards the rendezvous point he arranged with Fiona outside the city.
...
Inside Bodlukes Castle.
Laine returned to the castle, only to witness a peculiar scene.
Lady of Nuer, the Death Elent Sanctuary Grand Mage, Supre Mage Elspeth von Draken of the Imperial Royal Wizard Academy’s Athyst Academy; Nuer’s Chief Justice, Champion and Holy Sanctuary Warrior Theodore Bruckner stood before Surya and Alia.
Laine took a deep breath, closed his eyes; he knew the people from Nuer had co.
What would Alia do?
What should he do?
