Chapter 1570: Section 1571 The Price Paid Chapter 1570: Section 1571 The Price Paid Familiar geotric lines suddenly leapt before his eyes after the Scroll of Fortune was activated.
At the mont when all the edges within the geotric lines were smoothed by a strange energy,
Angel felt as though he had entered a marvelously comfortable atmosphere, where all unrest, nervousness, and worries vanished in an instant. It was like being under the quiet Magic Pattern, tranquil and at ease.
Could this be the so-called “lucky mont”?
With this thought, Angel did not indulge himself but instead accelerated the action of ‘dissolution’.
The duration of the lucky mont was a re two to three seconds, absolutely not to be wasted.
Angel swiftly dissolved the Authority within the sphere of light. At the sa ti, he silently recited his plea: Core Authority.
As Angel silently repeated this, within the unseen microcosm of the Principal Body of the Nightmare Domain, so imperceptible changes were taking place. Inside the sphere of light, a point of light, which was not supposed to be activated at this ti, began to loosen due to a series of miraculous Transmutations.
When the power of dissolution in the green Pattern entered its final stage, this point of light, quivering slightly, shook free from the sphere.
With the end of dissolution, as the point of light escaped from the sphere, Angel also withdrew from the “lucky mont”.
Angel didn’t know if the Scroll of Fortune had taken effect, nor what the light point before his eyes represented in terms of Authority, but there was no possibility of being choosy now. If he didn’t integrate it imdiately, the light point would dissipate just like the previous black mists, returning to the Wilderness of Dreams.
Without a second thought, Angel directly incorporated the light point into his body through the green Pattern.
However, at the mont of fusion with the light point,
Angel felt his heartbeat jolt, as if experiencing Astral Projection, his body producing a double image.
This is the Wilderness of Dreams; how could there be a heartbeat and Soul? This thought flashed through Angel’s mind, and it was the last coherent thought he had before fainting.
While Angel was feeling perplexed, he began to see an Illusion before his eyes—
He seed to be standing on train tracks, with the rumbling sound of “clang clang clang” coming from afar. He looked up to see a speeding train burst out of a pitch-dark tunnel in the distance.
The train was moving at high speed, blurring the surrounding scenery at that mont.
Angel stood on the tracks, unable to move; he could only watch as the train barrelled towards him.
However, the train did not crush him but, with a thunderous whistle and wheels rapidly turning, plunged into Angel’s body, straight through his mind, his thoughts!
At this mont, Angel’s mind was recklessly battered by this seemingly endless train!
Angel had previously integrated Authority twice; the first ti, when he obtained the “Gate of Dreams” Authority, he was so much in pain that he nearly went mad; the second ti, when he gained the “Gatekeeper” Authority, he was groggy for ten hours.
But this ti, the discomfort was so intense it was like the Devil’s Sea encountering the worst weather possible: waves churning dozens of ters high, lightning and thunder crashing, and the ferocious faces of Sea Beasts as large as mountains erging…
This agony, perhaps even ten tis the sum of the previous pains, was still not enough to describe it!
In almost an instant, Angel found himself kneeling on the ground, clinging to his nearly exploding brain, veins on his forehead exposed and face extrely contorted.
Seeing this, Sanders flashed with surprise and suspicion. Knowing that Angel had advanced to an Official Wizard and even stood on the verge of the path to True Knowledge, according to their previous conjecture, this integration of Authority shouldn’t have caused such a strong reaction, at most causing so dizziness.
“What on earth is happening?” Sanders furrowed his brow, feeling sowhat uneasy. Although he was the first to open the Nightmare Realm, all his knowledge and experience were unable to cope with the Wilderness of Dreams.
He didn’t know what to do now.
After so thought, Sanders exited the Wilderness of Dreams. He rembered that Angel had ntioned before, the first ti he integrated Authority, he not only passed out in agony within the Wilderness of Dreams but also entered an unprecedented state of vulnerability in reality. If Toby hadn’t administered a potion to him at that ti, he probably would have died.
When Sanders returned to reality, he imdiately slled a strong scent of blood.
Drip, drip, drip—
He turned back, only to see Angel slumping on the sofa, head bowed, fresh red blood continuously dripping down from his hanging hair. His clothes, as well as the entire sofa, including the floor, were soaked with blood.
This is just what happened within two minutes after Angel’s fusion with the Authority.
Sanders checked Angel’s current condition and found it to be extrely poor.
Moreover, Angel was sowhat overconfident, thinking that nothing would go wrong with the fusion on that day, completely unguarded and without taking effective protective asures.
It was also lucky that Sanders was with Angel today; otherwise, if he were alone, there might have been an incident.
Sanders sighed softly and stepped forward to treat Angel.
After Angel’s current injuries were treated, new ones erupted shortly after. Moreover, his body was still continuously weakening.
“It seems that this ti, the integration of the Authority is more difficult than before,” Sanders frowned and took Angel to a specially made restoration chamber.
Looking at Angel in the restoration chamber, who was becoming increasingly pale, Sanders rubbed his temples.
He did not know what Authority Angel was integrating, but at present, it seed that the Authority had exceeded Angel’s limits.
He had a guess—
Perhaps the Scroll of Fortune really did work. The new Authority was certainly the core one. But, they hadn’t considered one fact: was Angel strong enough to withstand a core authority like the Wilderness of Dreams?
The Scroll of Fortune, the reason why both fear and expectation are present in a wizard’s heart, is exactly because of this.
It gives you hope but does not tell you the price that cos with that hope.
Now, the only thing Sanders could do was to safeguard Angel’s physical body.
anwhile, within the Wilderness of Dreams.
Angel was already lying on the ground, slipping in and out of consciousness periodically, but the boundless pain kept waking him up—the repetitive cycle of waking and fainting made it impossible for Angel to distinguish the real from the illusion. His thoughts began to fragnt, lacking any complete logical chain, rely flitting through various disconnected images, now falling into lava, now plunging into an ice valley; the only consistent and complete thing threading through all his thoughts was the feeling of ‘pain. ‘
This severe pain had already surpassed Angel’s limits.
His brain was boiling, his skull cooking, and even his flesh felt like it had been injected with dense rcury; every inch of his body scread in despairing agony.
At this mont, Angel couldn’t even judge what the Authority was; apart from the sensation of pain, all that remained was one thought: do not give up, survive!
This tornt lasted a full two hours, enough to drive anyone else to ponder the relief of complete obliteration. But Angel had too many things left undone; no matter how excruciating the pain in his mind was, he always maintained the thought of ‘never giving up.’
When the pain reached its peak, amidst the unchanging disaster, finally there ca a variable.
Green patterns on Angel’s body suddenly emitted a dazzling green light.
Itchiness began on Angel’s back, and a beautiful, curling green pattern slowly erged. At the sa ti, the restless and untad light points inside Angel, under the ‘fusion’ of the green pattern, gradually lost their bouncing vigor, and the terrifying tidal wave finally cald.
After being tortured for hours, the pain finally subsided. Angel slowly closed his eyes and completely entered the realm of sweet unconsciousness.
As Angel fell into a deep sleep, the green pattern on his back also gradually faded away.
Sanders by this ti had returned to reality and had not witnessed this scene. However, he did notice that Angel’s body in reality was constantly cracking and healing; it finally stopped deteriorating and slowly began to improve.
The blood between the ears and eyes stopped seeping out, and the injuries on the body, once healed, did not reopen.
Under the effect of the restoration chamber, the injuries finally began to truly heal.
Seeing this, Sanders finally let out a sigh of relief.
Presumably, there had been a result on Angel’s side.
Was it that he couldn’t bear the pain and gave up halfway? Or did he successfully integrate the Authority?
If it was successful, what would this Authority, which has caused such a stir for an Official Wizard, be?
