Chapter 1846: Section 1847: Secret Contest

Just a few exchanges of words, seemingly calm, yet Angel, standing by the side, felt as if sparks were flying between the two.

As Greya and Lydia continued their conversation, Angel was quite certain his suspicion was right.

Not just sparks; it was more like lightning flashing between them!

It was as if a smokeless war was underway, probing each other’s limits with words while using the most serene yet heart-piercing language to viciously attack the other’s weaknesses, all under the guise of concern to mask their malice.

The attacked, though feeling suffocated in their chest, still wore a smile on their face; however, that smile never reached their eyes.

A ga of deception, scheming against one another.

Angel listened in for quite a while, but he didn’t hear them ntion the Eyeless Man, only exchanging each other’s “rumors.”

However, Angel was certain, these “rumors” they discussed about each other were mostly true.

Because rumors can only stir up trouble in the public arena. In a direct confrontation, at the level of these two witches, they are not even at the level of scratching an itch.

Regarding the current stalemate and mutual biting, Angel could only sigh in his heart: The wit and undercurrent among witches are truly terrifying…

Angel held on for about five minutes before deciding to temporarily leave the study, leaving the battlefield to these two obviously well-prepared won.

After Angel walked out of the study, he didn’t know where to go for a mont; he thought about it and finally ca to the Mana Hut by the lake.

This Mana Hut is where Greya is currently staying temporarily. When Angel arrived, the window of the Mana Hut was open. Through the window, he could see Asaz cooking sothing on the kitchen counter. There was no aroma, yet Angel’s mouth watered just by the waves of culinary power emanating from it.

Angel wasn’t the only one drooling; Toby was too. It was squatting on a table in the kitchen, eyes longingly fixed on Asaz, with drool even dripping onto the table.

Angel ca to the Mana Hut, intending to chat with Toby during this ti.

But now it seed Toby’s interest wouldn’t be on chatting… its eyes were almost glued to Asaz’s hands.

“Don’t worry, your dried fish will be ready soon,” Asaz’s gentle voice ca, and Toby imdiately nodded fervently.

Angel sighed, with a bit of regret showing on his face: So it’s dried fish.

If it were other food, he might have been able to snag so, but with dried fish, it was definitely reserved for Toby. No wonder this guy didn’t even budge when it saw him.

Angel shook his head, not bothering Asaz, and went directly to the place where Greya used to sunbathe, laying comfortably on the sun chair, enjoying leisurely ti.

A slight breeze, the moist fragrance of the earth, and the gentle sunlight.

Everything was so wonderful… if not for a leaf swaying before his eyes, it would be even better.

This was a leaf, not knowing from where it drifted, spinning in mid-air, refusing to fall. Instead, it kept drifting around Angel, asserting its presence.

Angel took a long breath, helplessly sat up from the sun chair: “Tree Spirit, why are you here?”

The floating leaf stopped directly in front of Angel, emitting a faint glow, and a familiar voice ca from the leaf: “I kind of miss the old Angel now.”

Angel: “???” He didn’t quite understand what the Tree Spirit was doing?

The Tree Spirit didn’t explain much and changed the topic: “I ca to talk to you about the recent rumors in the organization.”

The so-called rumors were naturally related to Angel.

Though the Tree Spirit cooperated with Lord Reine’s intention and didn’t spread the news of Angel’s return, what happened with Sanders at the Puppet Hospital was unhideable. After all, the topic of whether the living line could heal continued to be a hot discussion point, and Sanders couldn’t escape attention.

Since Sanders ca back, Angel naturally would be ntioned and return to the discussion hotspot.

“Many wizards have indirectly guessed you’re back using various thods.”

Angel: “As long as I’m not disturbed, let them guess.”

“The point of what I said just now is not that they guessed you’re back, but… many.” The Tree Spirit’s voice suddenly turned serious: “Originally, I thought that those who guessed only needed to understand your intention to keep a low profile and not spread it; however, I underestimated your influence. Once soone guessed you’re back, because of this invisible public opinion effect, there are now many voices within the organization guessing where you are.”

Guesswork isn’t important, but what is important is that if Angel returned, there aren’t many places he could stay: Illusion Demon Island, Apprentice Town, and Source of Flow.

If the Seed really intended to target Angel and decided to use the Arrow of the Defeated, these rumors would easily allow them to pinpoint Angel’s location.

This was the reason why the Tree Spirit ca to find Angel.

“You’d better change your location, and it shouldn’t be a place where you used to stay.” The Tree Spirit stated.

Angel thought for a mont and then seriously nodded. Although the possibility of Seed targeting him was small, to be on the safe side, caution should be exercised.

“Have you thought of a place to stay?” The Tree Spirit asked.

Angel: “I haven’t decided yet.”

“Since you don’t have a target in mind, why not go to the ruins?” After saying this, the Tree Spirit noticed Angel’s surprised look and explained: “Don’t worry, though the ruins I ntioned are relatively close to the ruins Lord Reine guards, it’s not a special ruin, but an abandoned laboratory of a forr Barbarian Cave predecessor.”

According to the Tree Spirit, only a few people are aware of this ruin, ensuring its confidentiality, with no inherent dangers, leaving behind a wealth of experintal instrunts, albeit sowhat dated, yet still usable.

Staying there, Angel would not only be secure and concealed but also have space for cultivation, and if he wanted to conduct experints, he could utilize those instrunts too.

Moreover, this ruin was specially recomnded by Rhein.

Angel thought about it and decided to agree.

The Tree Spirit and Rhein certainly wouldn’t harm him, and besides, he indeed needed to conduct so experints; having a secretive space was naturally the best.

After telling Angel the location of the ruins, the Tree Spirit didn’t leave but curiously asked: “Why are you sunbathing here? Or are you still maintaining the lazy, slack persona you portray?”

“Turns out even the Tree Spirit knows sunbathing is slacking off.” Angel responded with a hint of implication.

“You sunbathing is slacking, but I’m different. I’m a tree; of course, I need to sunbathe.” The Tree Spirit replied righteously.

Angel opened his mouth, failing to find a point to refute, eventually losing interest in arguing, directly stating the reason.
