Chapter 2005: Chapter 2006: Terrifying Overactive Imagination
Inside the Marine Theater.
Babaya and the other two followed a young boy with a soft, childlike voice to an office at the back of the theater.
“Teacher Jon, they are here.” Adar approached the desk and bowed respectfully.
Jon looked up, first smiled at Adar, indicating he could leave, and then turned his gaze to the two little ones and Baruba, who exuded a wild aura.
Jon examined them carefully for a mont, a smile curling at his lips: “Are you the assistants Angel brought?”
Facing Jon’s smile, Baruba didn’t feel much and nodded in acknowledgnt.
However, Babaya and Kudodo felt a chill sweep down their backs, unsure why they felt Jon’s gaze was so peculiar.
Although as Little People, they were often observed by others, others’ gazes were rely curious, but this elder in front of them seed not only curious but also inquisitive…
“I didn’t expect to see a real-life Thumbelina in my lifeti, what an interesting world,” Jon silently mused, his gaze towards Babaya and Kudodo becoming even more “benevolent.”
“Mr. Jon, Frod asked us to find you earlier, saying you would assign us tasks. May I know what task it is?” Baruba asked quietly.
“Frod just told your na is Baruba? Are you responsible for construction tasks?” Jon’s gaze shifted to Baruba, whose skin was slightly darkened.
The first thought flashing through Baruba’s mind was: When did Frod tell Jon?
But quickly, Baruba dismissed that notion. Perhaps Frod used a long-distance voice spell? Regardless of how Frod inford Jon, it was a good thing Jon knew their information, saving the ti for self-introduction.
“Yes.”
Once Baruba confird, Jon pondered, “Your task is to construct the New City. However, it will take so ti before the New City officially begins construction, so in the next few days, familiarize yourself with the planning blueprints of the New City… As for the specific blueprints, I’ll give them to you later.”
Baruba nodded. Although he didn’t know what “New City” was yet, it indeed sounded like a construction task. As long as it’s a construction task and there are blueprints, he should be capable of handling it.
After instructing Baruba, Jon turned his gaze to Babaya and Kudodo.
“As for your tasks, I will have Popota help you get familiarized later. However, before familiarizing yourself with the tasks, I am very curious about your identities…” Jon said with a smile: “Mind chatting with ?”
Jon’s smile caused a shiver in the hearts of the two little ones. Previously, they felt Jon’s gaze was strange, and now it seed not only strange but a bit terrifying!
In Babaya and Kudodo’s imaginative minds, Jon had transford from a kindly old man upon first eting into a sinister doctor in a shadowy backdrop. Even the faint smile at his lips seed tinged with blood.
“M-Mr. Jon…” Kudodo stamred, “Are you a Carabit?”
Kudodo had heard that Carabits are a race extrely curious about life, fond of studying living things, with a vile temperant. “Grafting Maniac” Dong La and “Basket Witch” Charlotte were both Carabits, and these two witches loved research and had cruel natures.
Thus, upon hearing Jon’s words, Kudodo instinctively imagined him as part of that species.
“Carabits, I’ve heard of this race, but I’ve never t one. I’m actually a Wise Man… uh, according to your understanding, a Wise Man.” Jon explained, “Why, are you very curious about what race I am?”
Kudodo felt so relief that Jon wasn’t a Carabit, but he still looked at Jon warily: “N-No, just felt you seem like soone who loves academics and research.”
Jon stroked his chin and nodded: “That’s not wrong; isn’t it just now I’m researching you?”
Kudodo’s mind went blank!
Research! Surely, he wants to research them!
Kudodo had heard in the Task Hall that “Microcosm” Dumatin often did brain extraction experints, and as his assistant, hardly anyone escaped the fate of brain extraction research. Therefore, Kudodo never dared to take on Dumatin’s tasks, no matter how rich the rewards.
But now, to his dismay, although he avoided Dumatin, it seed he had stumbled into Jon’s Magic Net!
Listening to his tone, he couldn’t possibly want to dissect them, right?
Kudodo’s mind began to conjure all sorts of cruel scenarios, and before Jon even spoke, he had already frightened himself, his little face turning pale.
“Don’t just ask ; you two should answer my question.” Perhaps Jon was too astonished by seeing thumb-sized people for the first ti, and he didn’t notice Kudodo and Babaya’s complicated emotions.
“W-We… actually, are just ordinary, yes, very, very ordinary people, and our population is tiny, almost extinct…” Kudodo cried, thinking of all sorts of excuses to dispel Jon’s desire to “research” them.
However, no matter what, Kudodo said, Jon kept smiling at him, like a demon contemplating how to cook them into a stew.
Just when Kudodo felt himself plunging into a dark purgatory, Jon suddenly paused.
Jon took out a strange branch from a drawer.
Everyone present could feel the branch emitting a peculiar fluctuation. They could receive the signals within the fluctuation, but none could decipher the content.
Jon glanced at the three people, noticing their gazes fixed on the branch in his hand. He furrowed his brows and muttered to himself: “Although the signal reception is enhanced, the privacy has worsened. This needs attention; I’ll need to discuss this with Poporta later.”
Then, Jon brought the branch to his brow.
Under the puzzled gazes of everyone, Jon maintained this action for about two or three minutes before slowly lowering the branch, revealing a regretful expression.
“Angel just told to let the three of you go outside the city. Your tasks will be arranged after you co back.”
Kudodo and Babaya’s eyes lit up. All they wanted at that mont was to leave, and now it seed their wishes were granted!
Their delight was fully expressed on their faces, and they even ignored Jon’s latter words.
Baruba, on the other hand, showed no expression, contemplating Jon’s words. Jon had twice addressed Lord Pat by na… this indicated Jon’s status would certainly not be inferior to Lord Pat’s.
Soone with a status similar to or even higher than Lord Pat’s should be quite renowned in the Wizards’ Realm. Why could he not recall any famous face that matched Jon’s?
Who exactly is he?
Also, Baruba noted that Jon received the ssage through a branch.
That branch clearly had no extraordinary fluctuation, so how could it transmit signals? Earlier, when Frod passed the ssage to Jon, could it also have been through that branch?
Baruba also rembered that when in the Spirit Tree Hall, Angel ntioned researching information exchange. Could this information exchange refer to this branch?
