Chapter 2216: Chapter 2217: Mist Battlefield
The battlefield is now divided into two sides.
He stands alone on one side, facing countless eyes filled with resentnt, as well as the stormy winds that churn the cloud sea.
Compared to the enormous wind elental creatures, Angel appears particularly small. Yet, his deanor is incredibly tenacious, even in the face of malevolent thunderstorms, he remains unfazed.
“Kill!”
“We must kill him!”
The cries continually reach Angel’s ears, and the wind around him begins to grow restless.
Hurricane stands at the forefront; instead of directly initiating combat, it takes a deep breath, inhaling a large mass of wind and cloud into its chest. Its upper body instantly enlarges by a third.
About two seconds later, Hurricane releases its breath slowly, having swollen considerably.
This breath is long and serpentine, stretching straight up into the sky for hundreds of ters before transforming into a black cyclone of ghostly shadows, overlooking all from the battlefield’s height.
“That’s the last trace of Air’s wind; it will witness your demise.” Hurricane gazes coldly at Angel, announcing the beginning of the battle.
Angel also notices the black whirlwind in the sky, the sa great whirlwind that fought Toby before self-destructing.
So that’s called Air.
Angel feels no disturbance at Air’s presence. Air voluntarily initiated battle, and death was its destiny.
However, Angel wasn’t particularly interested in playing out the drama of “defeating the young ones, only for the old ones to show up.” Even though Hurricane was another wind leader entity, he initially wanted to see if they could talk.
But from the series of reactions, talking is clearly not possible for the mont.
Then battle it is.
With Hurricane mourning Air and expressing anger, the battle finally began.
Facing dozens of figures enveloped by whirlwinds, Angel exhibits no retreat, but instead, he summons Earl Mi from his shadows with a thought.
As soon as Earl Mi appears, the dark aura on him begins to blend slowly with the surrounding ferocious winds.
His cold eyes turn blue, and at this mont, he transforms into a true wind elental magical creature.
“Handle Hurricane first, I’ll manage the others.” Angel communicates spiritually with Earl Mi.
Then, Angel reaches out, touching Earl Mi lightly, infusing him with Nightmare Illusion Breath. This breath helps Earl Mi avoid being affected by illusion techniques, allowing him to traverse illusionary realms effortlessly.
After doing all this, a ghostly light flashes in Earl Mi’s eyes; he exchanges a glance with Angel, and amidst the howling winds, they split in two directions.
As they leave, countless wind blades rush into the spot where they previously stood. Though chaotic, once these winds converge, they demonstrate terrifying power, penetrating a hundred-ter cloud layer, leaving a hole. Through the hole, one could vaguely see the flying sand and stones stirred up below.
This is the might unleashed by dozens of wind elental creatures at once.
Sufficient power to pierce through the eternal storm cloud sea!
This sight leaves Arnott and Jack on the distant gondola in shock. Against such a terrifying force, can Angel and Earl Mi truly prevail?
Dangross is also frightened by this scene; the cloud sea here is composed of the purest energy, unlike the outside, requiring formidable energy levels to penetrate. Yet, the opponents managed it with just one strike, breaking through the cloud sea. Previously confident in Earl Mi, Dangross now feels so fear, even contemplating retreat: “Lord Toby, should we, should we retreat a bit? Even if we don’t retreat, we could first go to Wind Island?”
However, Dangross receives no answer; it turns to look and realizes Toby is already gone from the ship’s bow.
anwhile, a gryphon engulfed in raging flas is confronting a black python towering in the clouds a hundred ters away…
Elsewhere, Hurricane was also keeping tabs on Angel, but the scent of fire carried by the wind made it turn its head in confusion.
It sees Toby in confrontation with the python.
Upon seeing Toby’s blazing form, Hurricane imdiately recalls the mory Air left, about the terrifying creature that killed it.
“So you’ve been hiding here.” Hurricane had wondered where that fla creature had gone, not expecting it to be lurking near the strange flying boat.
Hurricane knows well that the fla creature was what truly led to Air’s death. Thus, even to fulfill Air’s final wish, Hurricane resolves to kill Toby first.
It turns around, rushing towards Toby swiftly.
However, the more it focuses on Toby, the stranger Hurricane feels. Air’s remaining mory didn’t show detailed details of Toby’s appearance. And now, with Toby standing starkly in the distance, Hurricane gets a chance to observe.
Sohow, Toby’s appearance seems familiar, as if it’s been seen sowhere before.
Hurricane, while rushing towards Toby, tries to recall where it’s seen Toby’s form.
But before Hurricane can rember, a wind shadow appears before it. Before it can identify the shadow, a wind spiral attacks directly at its face.
As a wind elental creature, Hurricane can almost be immune to wind to so extent, much less a seemingly insignificant wind spiral.
Yet, watching the incoming wind spiral, Hurricane feels a thrill of fear.
Its spiritual sense tells it that avoiding it is necessary to prevent injury.
Ultimately believing its spiritual sense, Hurricane dodges the wind spiral. To check if its sense was deceived, it then creates its own wind spiral infused with divine thought, clashing directly against the incoming one.
Upon collision of the wind spirals, Hurricane is shocked to find its own spiral has been obliterated, and most importantly, its divine thought is gone as well!
The obliteration of the spiral suggests the opposing wind spiral had a higher energy level, but the destruction of its divine thought is no ordinary feat.
This ans that when facing such an attack, immunity due to similar elental nature won’t apply, and it may even harm its core.
What on earth is this wind spiral?
Also, who released it?
Hurricane stopped searching for Toby and instead looked at the silhouette opposite him.
It was a ghostly shadow, completely green, resembling a leopard. However, it was many tis larger than an ordinary leopard, but compared to Hurricane’s size, it was almost as small as a Wind Elental Spirit.
But the attack just now definitely wasn’t from a Wind Elental Spirit.
Yet, saying it was a wind-based creature seed sowhat inappropriate. Hurricane could sense a more substantial and frenzied aura that wasn’t ford by a nimble breeze; it felt more like a solid entity?
“Who are you?” Hurricane showed seriousness for the first ti.
However, his inquiry was unanswered, t instead by eyes as cold as ice and a storm with hidden thunder!
With a series of thunderous rumbles and the violent whirl of wind dragons, Hurricane and Earl Mi officially engaged.
When they clashed, the terrifying montum instantly manifested, and no wind-based creatures dared to approach their battleground. In a short ti, another hole pierced through the Cloud Sea appeared.
Their battle alone created this new hole, and it kept expanding, highlighting the frightful ferocity of the fight.
Although Hurricane was entangled with Earl Mi, he did not forget that Air’s death-wish mory still hung in the sky, observing the battle.
He wanted to avenge Air’s death, not only by killing the human-form creature but also by eliminating that fla creature. In fact, the fla creature was the primary target as it was the real culprit behind Air’s death.
Though Hurricane couldn’t manage everything alone, he wasn’t the only one there. There were dozens of wind-based creatures and his four most trusted generals—now only three since Air had died.
Before fighting Earl Mi, Hurricane had already spread the word that Toby was the true culprit behind Air’s death.
This made the already boiling pot seem like it had another layer of fuel added. Within monts, flas of rage spread, and aside from the three wind generals focusing on Angel, almost all other wind-based creatures targeted Toby.
However, before they could break through the battlefield, they saw a figure race past them at an unimaginable speed.
These wind-based creatures recognized the figure as the human-form being being chased by the three wind generals.
They didn’t think much of Angel’s strength because, unlike Earl Mi facing Hurricane head-on, Angel had not truly engaged in battle since it started.
To them, Angel was like a dog with its tail between its legs, being chased around by the three wind generals, posing no real threat.
The only thing they admired was Angel’s incredibly astonishing speed, faster than most wind-based creatures on the battlefield, and perhaps even faster than Lord Hurricane!
If it was just speed, they weren’t too concerned. Since Angel’s speed wasn’t enough to break through the battlefield, as long as he remained confined, they’d have the chance to exhaust his strength.
For this reason, when Angel passed right in front of them, they paid no mind.
The task of pursuing and consuming Angel’s stamina was left to the three wind generals. They had more pressing matters, such as dealing with that pesky fla creature!
With this in mind, their spirits surged as they charged outside the battlefield.
But just as they rushed toward Toby with burning anger, the Cloud Sea beneath them began to stir for reasons unknown. It obscured their vision and blocked their wind sense.
This area was naturally full of clouds and fog; it was normal for the clouds to swirl, especially since they were all carrying gale forces, making the Cloud Sea ripple wasn’t unusual.
They paid it no heed, determined to transform into a storm and sweep forward.
But as ti went on, they began to sense sothing was amiss. Even as they used the storm to clear their path, the mist only grew denser until they could barely see the road ahead. Reaching out their wind sense, they tried to perceive any movent through the breeze but found they could see nothing ahead, as if surrounded by an impenetrable mist.
The most concerning part was that they had initially been flying together, but now, the wind-based creatures around them were decreasing until they were all alone, aimlessly flying through the mist.
By their calculations, at their speed, it should have taken less than half a minute to reach the fla creature.
But they had been flying for two minutes…five minutes…ten minutes.
Still, there was no sign of the fla creature, or any companions at all—only the rolling thick mist everywhere they looked.
It was then that many wind-based creatures realized sothing was wrong; they suspected they had fallen into so strange ability. However, they weren’t too panicked because, being in the Cloud Sea and still in the air, they believed they could escape by dispersing the mist or flying higher or lower.
Yet, once they tried, they were utterly baffled.
Whether rising skyward or burrowing downward, exhausting their wind power to blow away the fog, they ultimately couldn’t escape the mist. It felt like they were trapped in a prison of clouds, unable to grasp direction or comprehend the breeze.
Once all paths were blocked, they finally thought about Angel, who had run past them earlier.
Earl Mi was fighting Hurricane and had no ti for tricks. And Angel, with his unparalleled speed, could have chosen a more open route to flee, so there must have been a reason for his path.
Perhaps trapping them in the mysterious cloud prison was his aim.
Realizing this, fear and panic imdiately engulfed their hearts.
However, this panic lasted only a while. They still held hope, believing that the three wind generals were chasing Angel, and Lord Hurricane was still outside battling, likely already aware of the oddities here. They hoped for rescue once reinforcent arrived.
With this hope in their hearts, the trapped wind-based creatures quietly waited.
But this wait was longer than they imagined.
…
The chase between Angel and the three wind generals continued. But what all wind-based creatures thought would be an easy battle eventually turned into an unknown situation.
Angel, of course, noticed that the wind-based creatures were targeting Toby.
However, he was prepared, fleeing all the way just to set up more stable Illusion Nodes.
When these Illusion Nodes connected, the battlefield was shrouded in dense white mist, trapping all wind-based creatures attempting to break through within the battlefield mist.
Including, behind him, the three wind generals, unaware of the transmutation.
