Standing at the bus stop in front of the checkpoint, Liu Kun waited for a mont.

After the previous batch of scavengers all had left, he stepped onto the next bus heading to the city.

The bus shook as it moved, the windows covered in a layer of dust obscuring the view of the shantytown and tent area outside.

’Library Station is here!’

The announcent system chid, and Liu Kun got up to leave the bus, turning into a narrow alley blocked by abandoned pipes.

The surrounding shantytowns were like mushrooms growing out of ruins, with rooftops made of iron sheets pressing against plastic cloths, faded old clothes hanging on clotheslines, and the air mixed with an indescribable stench.

As the first batch of shantytowns established back then, it has naturally beco the most rundown area of the Buffer Zone today.

About ten minutes later, a completely different figure erged from the alley.

The stylish black trench coat was open, revealing a well-fitted dark shirt inside, sleeves rolled up to the forearm, exposing the wrist adorned with a well-maintained chanical watch from the old era.

Liu Kun shook his half-dry hair, with the previous aura of desolation and shrinking completely gone, the sharpness and steadiness in his eyes fully expanding, returning him to the domineering appearance of Director Liu, the power holder.

He looked at the low shantytowns in front of him, a hint of complexity flashing in his eyes.

The old inspectors of the past were not allowed to enjoy and had to lead by example, living in this area.

Their old house was among them, and he lived here for a good fifteen years.

Even after the Idealist Faction took over, he had no thought of moving out to live in an apartnt building.

Compared to the bright houses in the Inner City, every ti he returned here, he found peace of mind.

Unfortunately... Liu Kun sighed lightly.

The Buffer Zone always lacked potential for outward developnt. Over the years, people proposed expansion plans, but they were repeatedly rejected by the higher-ups for reasons like insufficient budget and high risks, permitting residents to slowly shift outward voluntarily.

It’s steady, but the speed slowed to a crawl.

To this day, Happiness City has lost its leading position and gradually faded under the chase of other Shelter Cities, on the brink of falling back into the ranks of normal Super Shelter Cities.

Yet, the large ship struggles to turn, and even at this point, Happiness City is still unable to make a firm decision.

Every eting held still sees factions arguing endlessly over this.

Trying to set sail like the Great Expansion era once more is too difficult without external forces!

It was only the appearance of the Wanderer that brought a hint of possibility!

Thinking of this, Liu Kun checked his watch, the hands pointed at half-past two in the afternoon.

There’s only an hour and a half left until the migration eting at four.

Yesterday’s first eting, the checkpoint was rely a background, passively listening to the various argunts.

But today is different, even if he has to fight against Hou Rui and Carl Dickinson, paying so costs.

He must let the checkpoint grasp so speaking power and seize so benefits in this upheaval.

No longer can they be as friendly as before, letting everyone think the checkpoint is easily bullied and manipulated.

After walking a bit further, Liu Kun turned into an inconspicuous courtyard by the roadside.

The iron gate was ajar, and inside the yard parked a gleaming black pickup truck.

He opened the door and sat in the driver’s seat, casually pulling out the Defense Communication charging in the armrest box, only an hour and a half left until the eting, needing to align with Ding Yishan.

The call was made, and the speaker first emitted several seconds of busy tone, quickly connecting.

It’s just particularly noisy on Ding Yishan’s end, a mix of bustling voices and the screeching of moving chairs, as if countless people are squeezed in a narrow space, causing Liu Kun to frown unconsciously.

"Old Ding, the eting is about to start, where are you? Why is it so noisy?"

"Oh, Director Liu!" Ding Yishan’s voice was hurried, the speaker faintly transmitting his sounds of coughing lightly while apologizing to others, slightly easing the surrounding noise, "I’m in the Inner City, at the venue here."

"Why did you go alone?" Liu Kun’s voice instantly tenser, becoming nervous.

Usually, when he goes with Ding Yishan to etings in the Inner City, they’re constantly being made difficult.

Now Ding Yishan goes to the eting alone, won’t he be torn apart?

The thought of his delayed ti possibly putting Ding Yishan in difficulty made Liu Kun’s knuckles grip unconsciously, the alloy steering wheel forcibly squeezed into several indentations.

"The second migration eting... got moved early, started at one."

"What, moved early?"

Liu Kun froze for a mont, looking down at the notification bar on the Defense Communication, indeed finding several unread ssages piled up.

Earlier he thought they were routine notifications, but opening the top one now, there was indeed an Inner City notice.

The second migration eting rescheduled for today at 13.00, notified at 11.30 in the morning.

This must be... intentional!

Did soone know about my plans to leave, deliberately taking advantage?

Liu Kun’s gaze instantly darkened, this is troubleso.

Fortunately, Ding Yishan’s voice sounded calm, "Don’t worry, I told them you’ll arrive later, just now. Hurry over."

"Okay."

Liu Kun responded, his tone carrying suppressive gloom, "Carl Dickinson didn’t make it difficult for you, did he?"

"Carl Dickinson..."

Ding Yishan paused, unable to resist glancing at the big bald head sitting at the table, looking kindly at him, waiting for him to finish his call and discuss plans.

Slightly shaking his head, "No, Director Carl Dickinson is negotiating the upcoming settlent plans with now."
