After gaining the capital to survive and savoring the wonders of power,
Cheng Ye could roughly understand why a fierce conflict erupts when ideologies clash.
Ultimately, when the cake of power and interests is divided, soone always feels they got less.
More subtly, when people pursue their ideals, the first thought upon encountering failure is often not "the direction was wrong" but "not enough resources."
Both an excuse and a shackle.
"If I were to go independent in the future, which ideology should I build upon?"
On the way to the Celestial Essence Community, Cheng Ye pondered while shaking his head.
The Extraordinary Faction certainly wouldn’t work; such a path of suppressing everything with force was long abandoned by all Shelter Cities on the Wasteland, now only practiced by scattered enclaves, seemingly efficient but actually fraught with hidden dangers.
Once the principle of might makes right and the loudest voice prevails is established, residents will naturally chase strength, and the entire Shelter City will beco increasingly militaristic, with everyone resorting to any ans to climb up.
Just like at the checkpoints now, everyone wants to beco an Extraordinary, no one wants to live a hard life.
But soone has to bear the hardship below; you can’t let new residents suffer as soon as they arrive, right?
Otherwise, in just a few days, the bottom layer would flee; who would want to be a slave to the Extraordinary?
Unless these Extraordinary are willing to go out and guard the gates against the Infected Bodies, but is that possible?
The Technology Faction isn’t bad, laying solid foundations and forming an external radiation, sounds reliable.
But there’s a big problem too, how to ensure that the resources developed don’t leak out?
Happiness City barely locks the resources with "patent licensing" and strict permissions, but this thod also limits its developnt speed.
Otherwise, once soone develops with technology, they could rally people and resources to start anew, and the Technology Faction’s hard research would just dress others.
As for the Idealist Faction, they focus on a sense of belonging, seemingly the most heart-captivating thod on the Wasteland, but it’s not the right solution.
Even after the infection wave, masses of people still leave.
Not to ntion the Initial Heart Faction, treating people as cogs might work when there was only one Happiness City, but now the radio is filled with ads from other Shelter Cities, promising a better life.
Unless you break everyone’s legs, how could you prevent them from pursuing a "better life"?
"So, is it that these ideologies intertwine, check each other, and promote each other, that Happiness City has developed to this scale?"
Upon reaching this conclusion, Cheng Ye initially found it absurd.
Clearly conflicting ideologies, seemingly dragging down the developnt of the Shelter City, how could they be the driving force for growth?
But upon closer thought, he couldn’t deny the rationale.
The Extraordinary Faction ensures the combat strength of the Shelter City, the Technology Faction provides the fundantal survival resources.
The Idealist Faction attempts to unite hearts, while the Initial Heart Faction actively blocks the hordes of Infected Bodies.
The ideologies conflict with each other, yet in conflict, they form a delicate balance, like a cart that stumbles but always moves forward.
Perhaps the elders at the top allow factional conflicts not to seek the most suitable ideology, but to find the balance point that can be maintained in the optimal state.
"No wonder my ergence, connecting the community, would imdiately gain the favor of the Idealist Faction."
"It’s as if the two factions are already rging, and I... might just be that balance point."
Cheng Ye pondered.
If he could rise with the ideology of the Idealist Faction and also gain resource support from the checkpoints, wouldn’t that an the rging of two ideologies?
"Wait, if in the future I could acquire enough Extraordinary Power, technological knowledge, gain recognition and investnt from the Extraordinary Faction and Technology Faction, wouldn’t that be..."
A bolder idea suddenly struck him.
If an Inspector could be valued and invested in by all four factions simultaneously, what would be the result?
Hard to imagine.
Thinking further, perhaps he would end up as the City Lord of Happiness City.
Boom.
A sudden loud noise ca from the direction of the pedestrian street in the distance, and a cloud of gray-black smoke billowed into the sky.
The demolition progress on the pedestrian street was extrely fast; in just two or three days, a fifth had been demolished already.
The old order is collapsing, and a new pattern is quietly forming.
"Sir!"
Just entering Zone B-7, a loud voice greeted him.
Er Long trotted over from the demolition crew, his face stained with gri yet unable to hide his excitent as he bowed to Cheng Ye, "You’ve arrived!"
"The demolition is pretty fast."
Cheng Ye nodded, his gaze swept over the workers swinging sledgehamrs, the dull thud of the hamr hitting the broken wall sounded in succession.
"All thanks to you, sir!" Er Long quickly replied, his tone full of gratitude, "The garbage trucks from the Public Works Bureau run faster than rabbits; they basically haven’t stopped except for als and breaks. With them working efficiently, we have no worries as we demolish, so the progress naturally picks up."
Transporting the demolished building debris is a major problem.
The designated dumping site from the pedestrian street to the Buffer Zone is more than ten kiloters away; ordinary residents use manual carts, and even with a thousand people working all day, it doesn’t match the efficiency of a dump truck.
Now, with three dump trucks in cyclic operation, that’s the key to the rapid increase in demolition speed.
"How are the workers’ wages paid? I’ve been too busy to ask these past two days. Later, I’ll give you a contact; go to the Public Works Bureau, get the budget, don’t let them go unpaid because they’re our own, they must get every cent they deserve!"
