[In honor of the famous Northern Song Dynasty politician, thinker, military strategist, and writer, Mr. Fan Zhongyan’s 1036th birthday—]
[Tomorrow, that is September 5th, Jiangcheng University will grant a day off to all grades!]
Two minutes later.
Yu Jin’s phone received a ssage like this.
Not just Yu Jin.
Old Cui, Brother Gang, Yu Fei, and even the teacher up on the podium, spitting everywhere while lecturing, all received the sa ssage.
"Are you serious?"
"Is this legit?"
The ssage was so abstract, almost ’bizarre’, that everyone instinctively thought it was so sort of prank text.
But the next second—
"Hey, hey—"
The broadcast in the lecture hall blasted out a robust man’s voice.
"Announcent, announcent—"
"In honor of the famous Northern Song Dynasty politician, thinker, military strategist, and writer, Mr. Fan Zhongyan’s 1036th birthday—"
"Tomorrow, that is September 5th, all faculty and students of Jiangcheng University will have a day off."
"Repeat—"
"In honor of the Northern Song Dynasty..."
anwhile—
Ding dong—
Yu Jin’s phone received another ssage.
[Jiangcheng University Affairs Office—]
[Environntal Protection Club’s ’Polluted River Treatnt’ event application has been approved and filed!]
Yu Jin: "???"
No way.
I haven’t even finished writing the application!
Why are you approving it now?
...
...
In the past, Yu Jin always thought—
No matter how much money, power, or connections a person had, you still had to play by the rules, stick to basic logic.
But today, he realized he was wrong.
Not just wrong, but catastrophically wrong!
In the eyes of the truly rich, powerful, and well-connected, literally anything can beco reality, as long as she wants it.
Yep, ’she’ being Yin Yao.
Clearly.
This sudden holiday at Jiangcheng University, and the fact that his application got approved before he even submitted it, were the result of this senior again flexing her superpowers.
"Whew—"
Yu Jin walked out of the classroom, letting out a long breath.
No matter what—
The good news is—
The Environntal Protection Club’s event is set for tomorrow.
In other words—
Tomorrow, he can milk a boatload of rewards from the system!
Thinking this—
Yu Jin turned his head, looking at Yin Yao who was trailing behind him.
"I’m in."
Just two words, and Yin Yao was left speechless.
Yu Jin wasn’t stupid, nor was he so dense straight guy, and definitely not self-absorbed.
Of course he knew that what Yin Yao was trying to say at the gate earlier wasn’t really that ’date.’
The reason he cut her off and deliberately misunderstood her was simply to turn her down—
He was busy; he still needed to go to the zoo for rewards, sell the heavy gold brick in his pocket, and, if he had ti left, maybe hit the hospital to see if he could run into an Infected Body for another batch of rewards.
But...
Since the senior was pulling so many strings, pretending to be clueless wouldn’t cut it anymore.
Yin Yao was silent for a while.
Finally—
She looked at Yu Jin and spoke softly:
"What I ant was—"
"If you have ti today, we can log into Wasteland together."
And, to avoid Yu Jin overthinking it, she added:
"That ga is super realistic, a one-of-a-kind experience; it’d be a real sha if you missed out!"
Yu Jin heard this, outwardly unfazed.
But inside, a storm was brewing.
He realized the crux of the situation.
From Yin Yao randomly joining his club a couple days ago, to sending him (and even his roommates) ga helts, to helping him get the event approved today...
All of it, everything, was lining up for this very mont!
The Wasteland ga!
Yin Yao’s real focus wasn’t him, but...
Him, logging into the Wasteland ga!
The Wasteland ga wasn’t your run-of-the-mill ga; Yu Jin had already suspected sothing was off.
And Yin Yao?
This person with a sky-high background—borderline Blue Star’s human ceiling—suddenly beca obsessed with this mysterious ga; it’s hard not to imagine wild things.
"Is this for real? The plot where the ga invades reality, the higher-ups know and start prepping, but the masses are just Mongolian Drumrs?"
This idea kept popping up in Yu Jin’s mind.
But...
He had no way (and couldn’t) find proof.
He couldn’t just drop that idea in front of Yin Yao.
Otherwise, he’d risk exposing the secret of his system.
After a long silence—
Yu Jin shook his head.
If the system didn’t clash with the Wasteland ga, he actually wouldn’t mind taking so ti to play gas with this heiress.
But...
Anything that puts his system at risk—Yu Jin was never gonna do it.
"Why not?"
Yin Yao looked puzzled.
"I get motion sickness in 3D."
Yu Jin shot back without thinking.
"But Wasteland is strictly speaking 5D."
Yin Yao pressed on.
"5D’s even worse."
Yu Jin dead serious.
"..."
Yin Yao, for the second ti, was at a total loss for words.
...
...
Jiangcheng University, Main Gate.
Yu Jin still hadn’t managed to shake off his new shadow, Yin Yao.
Hard to imagine—
A heavyweight like Yin Yao was playing tag-along.
But Yu Jin wasn’t feeling great about it, kinda resigned honestly.
He was headed to the zoo for reward grinding; bringing the senior along just felt... off.
"If you don’t want tagging along, I can disappear."
Yin Yao, seemingly picking up on Yu Jin’s thoughts, spoke softly.
Yu Jin facepald silently at this.
When soone makes it that easy, are you really gonna just kick her out?
If he hadn’t owed her favors, maybe he would.
"Can’t bite the hand that feeds you!"
Yu Jin sighed, looked at Yin Yao, and got serious:
"I’m going to the zoo. Are you really coming?"
Yin Yao was clearly caught off guard.
The zoo?
Why’s Yu Jin heading there?
She didn’t quite get it, but...
"Yep."
...
...
Jiangcheng Wildlife Park.
Even though it was a weekday, there were still huge lines at the entrance.
Jiang City, as a major southern city in Daxia, draws tourists from all over the country.
And Jiangcheng Wildlife Park is one of the city’s most popular spots.
The animals here are famous for ’no animal performances allowed, but the animals just can’t help themselves’.
"Check out that crowd, gonna be a wait."
Yu Jin glanced at the throngs ahead and looked at Yin Yao.
Yin Yao said nothing, just took out her phone.
Five minutes later.
The zoo director appeared at the entrance.
Yu Jin and Yin Yao, under the director’s personal escort, skipped the epic line and walked right in.
"Even the director has connections with you?"
Despite being ntally prepared, seeing the director beaming like a chrysanthemum and even holding an umbrella for them, Yu Jin couldn’t help but ask in a low voice.
"My family owns this place."
Yin Yao’s answer, for the nth ti, left Yu Jin stunned into silence.
Damn...
You really are the real ’Superman’!
