331: The Wolves in the Grasslands 331: The Wolves in the Grasslands A famous chief in the early years of resistance against the Yan in the past once said, the people of Yan ca to the Great Steppe with the book of the Great teacher.
And the people of the Steppe had the land.
Then they said, “learn the book and bow to our Emperor of Yan” We closed our eyes.
When we opened them, we had the book, and they had the land.
Then they force us to read their books, to speak their language and kill our own language, to erase our culture and to worship their gods.
And their god are mortal.
A child Emperor.
An old decrepit.
Man, not god.
Hence, the Great Steppe never trusted any Yan people who co bearing gifts.
Today, the Great Steppe is rising.
Yan is declining.
Old vengeance would be paid.
Yan started it by making a hundred years of devastation and massacre of the people of the Steppe.
The people of Yan said that they would ride through the pass, feast on their “barbarians flesh” and drink the blood of their tribal friends the Songnu people.
And here the people of the Steppe thought that the people of Yan strongly despise cannibalism.
But they want to drink the blood of the children of the Steppe, and feast on the flesh of the old people of their relatives.
Dama one of the most vocal voices against Yan once said, one day, he will ride south and he would do what the Yan people would not be able to do.
All the Yan people could only do, like always, is them writing poems, writing books, denigrate their people and portray themselves as so kind of heroic, noble saviours.
When in history it shows that they are trampled by foreign races simply because they are a vicious and vengeful race By being vengeful, they create enemies perpetually, by being unforgiving, they attract enemies that would stop at nothing to destroy them, by breaking faith with other small nations, it led to everyone seeing them as enemies.
Now that the Southern Great Steppe in the period of unification.
And once it is unified, the Steppe would break out the mould and once again they would ride south And this ti they would co with a vengeance.
And this vengeance would not be satisfied, until each land of the Yan is burned, until every one who wanted to eradicate them erased from the world.
There is many promising heroes that would be able to do this.
There is Aeryon the self-proclaid Kan.
Many people even address him as the Kan as he controls the lower Southern area of the Southern Great Steppe.
Even though he himself never proclaid it, his tribe proclaid it and many people acknowledges it…..because he has the strength and power to claim that title When the Old Empire of the Steppe fell, the titles lost its values and lost its power.
Hence when the Old Empire of the Steppe fell and the chieftain all rushed to na themselves Kan, with each chief claim the title, the very abundance of people claiming it, erode the power in that title.
And when they were massacred by the Yan people, the people of the Steppe learns that those who are called Kan, is not like the Kan of the Old Empire where their horses would trample nations and their sword bring downs kingdoms And not before long, not many people dares claims the title of Kan for fear of being made a ridicule.
Claiming a title without having the proper strength of the Kan, is setting themselves up to beco a subject of mockery.
But Aeryon….he is different.
He could claim it and people would believe it.
Because he controls the central and part of the western side of the lower Southern Great Steppe.
Now, he did not claim it but his tribe call their chief the Kan, and those small tribes and any other tribes that deal with Aeryon, when they enter the territory of the Brolgadhr and t the young leader, they all would address him as Kan as acknowledgent of his power and influence.
He is unifying the land with great speed and his expedition to the west shock the many upper region tribe on the north in the Southern Great Steppe.
His attack to Nurshira broke the invincibility of Yan soldiers and shows to the people of the Great Steppe that Yan dynasty has now weakened.
It is ti for them the wolves to rise , circle this sick dragon.
When soone slay this dragon, then let the wolves cos feasting on this dead dragon!
Then there is Dama in the East with his hard lined approach and terrifying strength.
He united the mountain people on the Yindu mountain range and the mountain people ca down and obey the words of Dama as they expand toward the West.
There is the Sordkazan tribe that is in a process of rising.
If the Sordkazan tribe wins against Dama then the hegemony of the East on the Southern Great Steppe would probably be determined.
Then there is the Vihur tribe in the north that is beginning to move.
What about the Western side?
There is no lack of heroes there There is the Bolghar tribe that has long been one of the largest tribe on the western side of the Southern Great Steppe.
They are not to be underestimated as they also learns thods and tactics of the Western Zhou around them.
Then there is the Khagai tribe.
Khagai tribe has been said to forge an alliance with the Brolgadhr tribe.
Is this a foreshadowing to the alliance between the Khagai and Brolgadhr dominating the west?
But these tribe are not the only contending tribe for the hegemony of the west.
A new tripartite alliance shakes the Southern Great Steppe when they first announced it.
It is not because this is the first ti that such a tripartite alliance was done.
In the past, there is many of such alliances.
But as years passes, and the interference of foreign power that intend to keep the Steppe divided, make feuds and blood debt between each tribe interconnected with each other and it is rare to make multiple alliance without one or the other alliance mbers having bad blood with the other, which makes the entire alliance moot and pointless.
The foreign power wanted the tribes in the Great Steppe to be divided.
And they succeeded in that.
Even after they no longer fan the fla, the matter is already finalized, the blood debt has already incurred and the tribe would not associate who they thought as the tribe blood enemy.
It wasn’t until Aeryon could take in his own enemies that expel him from the Steppe and transforms these blood feud enemies into his own power, that many more chief began to see…that there is also that kind of way Choose whether to avenge blood debt, or take the opportunity to make the tribe beco stronger.
For the warriors in the tribe, they might choose to solve the blood debt, but for a chief who has ambitions, they could even break through culture restriction and chooses the most beneficial path for the tribe strength But it would not be that easy for other chief to implent this.
The bigger the tribe, the harder it is to reform it.
Because the interest of the people are connected to every policy of the chief.
Aeryon could do it without a bloodless thod because the tribe was small in the beginning and everyone follows Aeryon words almost like so kind of religious code.
Not all tribes have these kind of obedience toward their chief.
Sotis, chief even shares powers with the great warriors in their tribe or the Ashana or the other brothers of their kin.
What Aeryon could easily do does not an it is also sothing that they could easily do.
And this is why when Aeryon forgives his past enemies, Utgard tribe chief Garron always feel that the young chief is ambitious and soone to observe.
And his evaluation of Aeryon is accurate.
Since then, he now beco a great force in the lower part of the Southern Great Steppe and it could probably rival the Vihur tribe on the north.
The reason why Chagai tribe manage to secure such a tripartite alliance and why it succeeds is because the sudden ergence of a powerful force which forces these tribes to actually abandon old hatred and old debts to counter these threats.
Chagai tribe could convince the Nergui and Ultar tribe of this matter and it shows how eloquent Chadha, the chief of the Chagai that he could make those two-fighting tribe, not to only forget old grudges and resentnt but at the sa ti, tied them with interest and power.
Not to ntion these three tribes are not small tribes.
Nergui and Ultar tribe, both of these tribes expands their tribes when they see it fit.
No doubt spurred by the sudden expansion on the lower south by the Brolgadhr tribe And Chagai tribe with the help of their alliance mber also quickly expands and takes many small tribes around them making them a large tribe in just a few weeks.
The small tribes around the Chagai tribe already has good relations with Chadha so he did not conquer them using warriors which saves him the use of force and in just a couple of days, dozens of small chief and dozens of clans co to him and swear fealty to him Three large tribes allying with each other, marching forward together and retreat together!
