Chapter 544: Beginning of the Troubled Tis IV [Introduction]
Aeryon give his people many generous resources and in the end, he also benefitted.
And in turn of these resources, they build stuff for him and at the sa ti create the virtuous cycle of prospering the economy.
The more prosperous the economy of his city, the more people co to trade here, the more profit Aeryon would get from his rchant caravans.
And because of that this city has beco quite the achievent and he could even afford to create palace compound with many palaces all around it.
He did not claim himself king but he sure has that majesty of a king.
All over the city are wooden hos. So with curved roof, following the style of Yan, others are more functional and steeper.
In so wealthy residences, silk banners flutter from the balconies and there is lanterns swinging in the breeze
When night ca, the light of these lanterns make the city looks lively.
It could not be compared to a tropolis of Yan, or the jewel city of Roma but for the people in the Steppe, this was like the recreation of the ancient capital of the ancient empire of the Steppe.
This alone shows the ambition of this Kan
And among the city structure, the palace rises like a golden crown over it all, the dos of the many palaces inside the palace compound catch the sunlight when it is morning and catches the moonlight when it is night, creating a beautiful view.
And this city has beco sowhat of a hub of trade.
There is three places that could be considered a great hub of trade in the Great Steppe.
It is the north, the central plan and the south.
This is the downward route toward the south from the north
There is also the eastern to west route which is from Yindu to Western Zhou and from Western Zhou one could go to Yan or other lands far west.
But most rchants co from Roma or the lands of the golden haired and blue eyes people in the far north.
They would trade with the rchants in the Steppe that is composed of many rchants from different lands.
There is also Steppe rchants who usually works under the auspices of the chief of the Steppe.
But there ae also so rchant Steppe family.
Even though Roma rchants does trade with the rchants gathering in the Steppe it is quite interesting that the Roma rchants never t a Yan rchant or even knows about Yan.
Even those that knows thought that Yan is just a simple small kingdom.
It is the sa for Yan who thought that Roma is just like one of the smalls states in the world
The reason is also because there is no direct contract between these two and also because the distance is far.
Even rchants would not travel this far.
Because just to go to Roma to the Northern Great Steppe already take a long ti and consu many resources, how could they have enough resources to go to the southern Great Steppe?
They could not so, the people from the Great Steppe took this business and travel down.
In the past, even though there is trade in the Southern Great Steppe and the Brolgadhr tribe do profit from it, it was not like it is today.
Today, not only the Brolgadhr tribe have resources to use, they control the route toward the Wall of Yan.
You want to go to Yan and trade your stuff?
You can.
But pay the toll.
Aeryon himself did not charge a lot because he also knows if he oppress these rchants to the point of desperation, it would be like killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.
Since that is the case, he did it appropriately.
The bazaar district in the city is busy and full of people.
There is carpets from distant land staged beside crates of Yan dynasty porcelains, spices from Yindu sits in clay pots next to northern ambers and honey from land of the snow.
There is furs from the snowy north, jewelry from lands that Aeryon does not even knows, books written in many scripts, and all kinds of things could be found in the bazaar.
Cals, ox carts, Tayak caravans arrive daily, escorted by warriors, their tongues a babble of dozens of languages.
It is like during the ti of peace in the Steppe hundreds of years ago where rchants from all kinds of nations would trail along the road from north to south, carrying all kinds of trade goods from distant lands
There is abundance of food and there is security
The day of the city unfolded like any other day.
The war has stopped for a mont but unlike in Yan where the monarch who stopped the war is considered wise and benevolent, most of the young people of the Steppe is impatient and is eager to go to war.
Eager is an understatent.
It is more like they would spring to life the mont war is ntioned.
There is many even in Aeryon camp that wanted to go to war.
Aeryon now have the problem of an arrogant army.
Since the mont Aeryon began his conquest, he had never lost a war.
Tribes falls and surrender and the montum is growing.
After Sordkazan Aeryon slow down because he had seen this trend among his n. Arrogant soldiers could always be defeated.
There is nothing wrong with having confidence.
But having confidence with no reason is an on of defeat.
The only way Aeryon could maintain this indestructibility and invincibility of his campaign is if he slows down his army and make them calm down for a mont.
In a way, it is like holding them back, making the hungry and the when the mont is right, release these hungry wolves
And then combined with concrete planning and the morale of the army, they would win again.
The other reason is simply because, the battle that they would fight from now on, would no longer be a simple battle like before
The tribe that they are about to face are all powerful tribes and large tribes.
For a tribe to last as long as theirs do, they must have so thods and talented n.
Aeryon does not underestimate them but he also did not overexaggerate them
The trend is on Brolgadhr and Aeryon could also afford to lose now.
It is better if he doesn’t lose but even if he loses a battle, his foundation and base would at least not be jeopardized like before
And Aeryon also knows that sotis, what happens outside the battlefield is as equally as important as the battlefield itself.
Aeryon like to make sure he wins before he even step on the battlefield.
And what would make a victory beco inevitable? Preparations in and outside of the battlefield
He is planning to conquer the world, so how could he not have a grand layout?
Even Genghis Khan without any miraculous knowledge like Aeryon knows how to establish spy network, how could Aeryon who ca from a modern world did not know the value of the thod of spying and disruption?
Aeryon has always been in the thought of using the least power to achieve the greatest result and he is fond of allying and using the power of others to strengthen himself.
In the north he had the Nogai tribe as his inside man.
This Nogai tribe is even doing all sorts of things to make sure that when he does co to him, he would co to him with rit.
In the West, he has the Khagai tribe that is now waiting for the opportune mont.
It is only in the east that Aeryon and his tribe have no clout. That is the sole territory of the Esbizuk tribe and it is hard to penetrate
War is sothing that Aeryon has to launch. His n are all eager to go and he is also eager to go. But unlike his n, his responsibilities and his task is different
He needs to be prepared and only when he is prepared could he launch it. It is because the desire of soldiers and his general sotis, clash with the desire of the ruler.
Aeryon as the rulers of course needs to learn to reconcile the feelings of his n
Life is cheap in the Steppe and not precious and one could die and be abandoned.
Either live a naless life or go to fight
For warriors, shepherding sheep and buffalos one could gain nothing but food.
For ordinary people, this is enough. But for a warrior, this is an unbearable life. At least if they go to war, they could gain many things.
If they won, they would get rewards and everyone knows that the Kan rewards has never failed to be delivered.
Unlike so chiefs and Yan people who would withheld rewards, when the Kan said he would reward the army, he would truly reward the army
Which soldiers would hate this kind of general?
No one.
And it is because of Aeryon way of dividing rewards that each one of them is very eager to make contribution.
