Now reading: Chapter 661: Great Leader from Way of Overlord, a Action novel by Keikokumars.

The war between the west and the Brolgadhr has started and now it is already almost a month.

Rarely a battle between a tribe lasted this long.

However, this is not a simple battle

It is a war

And this is the first ti that logistic truly matters and both forces fielded so much n that the dust from the hooves of the horses’ hovers in the sky above

Tens of thousands of n, fighting all over the area from north to south, from the upper reaches to the lower reaches, in every terrain imaginable, from hills, to valleys, to streams and even caves and abyss.

Countless tribes and clans are affected and many chooses their sides

This ti Aeryon is fighting an external war. And this war involves a great distance away from the tribe.

And it supplied five fronts.

Aeryon had been attacking from the very beginning. Most of them are fast attack.

There are rarely tis when they stopped. But when they do stop, they defended the site almost fanatically

Now, the dust of war is slowly clearing up.

Aeryon is in his tent right now.

It is night, the battle had ended and, in a few days, the main force of Chagai tribe would arrive in this plain area

Aeryon already sent a challenge letter. Now that the war had reached this point, Aeryon wanted to break Chagai tribe backbone.

Out of the tripartite alliance the strong ones all went to Chagai tribe. So people believe it is the Ultar.

But it is only after reading the report and comparing the battlefield and the officers and tactics, that Aeryon could conclude so things

The Chagai tribe was the beneficiary of the tripartite alliance.

It is not because Chadha slighted his allies and gain unfair advantage.

It is nothing like that.

"It is more that his allies could never see as far as he could"

Ultar and Nergui expand almost ferociously after the alliance was established.

But Chagai tribe expanded naturally and most of the ti, they tried to solve it diplomatically.

Chadha even married so of the chief daughters to his cousins and relatives assuring those clans and tribe.

Because of this vested interest, the warriors of Chagai could assimilate the tribes of others and truly make them willing to fight for them

As for Ultar and Nergui, while they did conquer and subdue a lot of the tribes around them during the early days of the alliance, they did not win the hearts of the people they conquered.

Given ti, they probably could but because they are short-sighted, they did not take any asures to assimilate these tribes and clans who all have their own interest and desire.

Of course, Aeryon could not really bla them all.

Most of the bla co from him.

The only reason they rush is because they are afraid of him coming to the west.

And so, they beca anxious.

And anxious people would always make mistake. That has always been the case and that is also the case this ti

They were anxious and they need to strengthen themselves. And so, they chose the quickest way.

Conquer their neighbours, loots their resources.

There is nothing wrong with this thod.... if they are given ti.

If they could expel external dangers and then focused on pacifying the tribes that they had conquered, then all of this would not affect the power of these tribes.

The problem was Aeryon would never let them consolidate their power.

This is the difference between the west and Aeryon forces. Aeryon was too early and too ahead of them

When he took Wustkazan, he could even let it be controlled by Belarion without worrying that his base would crumble.

Because he makes sure his base is stable.

Of course, to say that there is no internal problem or faction in his rule is ridiculous.

But as long as he keeps winning, all of this contradiction has no chance of erging. And Aeryon already decided that after taking the west, he would recuperate, ease the people and pacify the tribes and chill it down for a bit.

He promised benefits to the warriors, to the elders, to the people.

And he also hinted to the people that after the war, they would be given rest, the people could graze, could herd, could trade.

For the warriors and generals, they are promised rewards. For those who are wavering, Aeryon enurated the kind of punishnt to deter them

Benefit and threat, the carrot and the stick, a kind of approach that rarely failed.

He had prepared all of this before he had even taken the step toward the west.

He knew from the beginning before entering a war, the most important thing is not logistic, it is not the generals, it is not the weapon

The first thing that any leader should do before entering the war...is to have a plan.

It is the simplest part but so leader failed to do it. And once you enter a war without a plan, if the war spirals out of control, out of your calculation, what would happen is you would be stuck in that war

Starting a war has always been easy. Ending it however.... depends on the plan and objective

If you enter without a plan, then the objective undoubtedly would change many tis. And that is sothing Aeryon would not tolerate

And not only that before a plan, one must unite all allies and determine the enemy, secure the rear and make sure even if there is problem internally, it has already bene inside calculations.

So, Aeryon contacted the Khagai tribe, the Nogai, the Korun and make sure they all know what he is going to do

If your allies don’t know who you are going to attack and why you are going to attack then if he needed help, then these tribes might not give it to him when he needed it the most

At least have the courtesy to inform them even more so if it affected them. And since Aeryon knows that this war would surely affect their borders... It is better to inform the allies.

He informs Khagai so that if the ti is right, Aeryon and Valgrun could coordinate an attack from two sides.

He contacted the Nogai to make sure the north is preoccupied on their upper reaches and constrain them from coming down. Nogai tribe itself is not trying to secure alliances there while pitting these tribes against one another

As for Korun, there is that tribe is cunning and they have been waiting to send a woman to him to secure an alliance.

Aeron is not averse to this. Marriage is still the most trusted way of securing alliances.

Korun before the death of Garron was not such an important tribe in Aeryon calculation. But after the death of Garron and Utgard tribe action could no longer be predicted, then Korun is the buffer between the West and the East. And Aeryon even send a letter to Dama to make sure that the Utgard did not attack them

Aeryon sighed

He must admit that the sending of letters toward Dama is quite a petty trick.

It is not like Dama doesn’t know.

Utgard right now needed a justification. If he had taken the throne legitimately, under the permission of his father and the approval of all of the great warriors and the elders, then there is no need for so many justification

But because he did not have these, justification for him is very important. Utgard chief right now is

The only tribe among the tripartite alliance that even make these tsp is Chagai

"Those two tribes, Nergui and Ultar.... Theya re to short sighted. One could not make plans with them" Aeryon mutters to himself as he reads the battle report carved onto barks and so written-on leathers.

He paused for a second and then sighed

"Nergui and Ultar....one could not make plans with them but Chadha managed to turns these two tribes into his shield" Aeryon sighed

"It is a pity he is too old and it is a pity we did not share the sa ideals" Aeryon close his eyes for a second and leaned back on his chair. He had created a leaning chair.

It could not be said that he had created it. It is more like had given so people inspiration on how to create the chair. It consisted of a padded seat and a backrest

The fra is wood, and one could seat directly.

So, he could lean back and it is easy to store. And that is a requirent if he goes for a campaign like this.

The ti for a campaign should not be long even more so for a Steppe campaign.

But since people had learned his thod, those powerful tribes that has learned from him make fighting harder.

And Chadha is the best learner.

He is the kind of person who would take anything that is good from his enemies and his ability to absorb other people strength is one of the things that Aeryon admire about this old wolf.

He is not prejudiced and he could throw away his pride if that pride got on the way of his tribe. This is a truly qualified leader.
