When Police Inspector Andor opened his eyes again, he found himself trapped in a cold iron chair. His hands were cuffed behind the back of the chair, and each foot was tied to the chair legs on either side.
What’s going on? My body... wasn’t it lted?
Where is this place?
He scanned his surroundings, and a chill went down his spine — the room was very clean, with white walls and a white floor, and the light above was also white, clean to the point of being inhuman. What made him physically uncomfortable were the instrunts in the room, such as various syringes, tweezers, scalpels, and a strange instrunt console connected to a mass of wires.
Andor took a deep breath, trying to use his superhuman strength to break free from the handcuffs, but no matter how hard he tried, the tal rings behind him wouldn’t budge.
"Don’t waste your energy." said a cold female voice suddenly from behind him, "These handcuffs are made of super titanium alloy, can withstand a pull of 300 tons. Even dealing with augnted individuals is a cinch."
Andor couldn’t help but be shocked!
Soone was there behind him?
He didn’t feel a thing.
"What do you want to do with ?" He asked, feigning calm. Since they hadn’t killed him, it ant he still had so value.
The woman slowly walked around to his front — Andor imdiately rembered who she was: before the surveillance had failed, the caras had caught three people breaking into the headquarters building, and she was one of them. Blue-purple hair, body packed with explosives, the one who blew up the door... Although she didn’t appear on the 55th floor afterward, Andor still rembered her clearly.
He had indeed fallen into the hands of the enemy.
"Of course, we want to extract information from you, not just feed you."
Lin Qing pulled over a mobile cart and picked up a syringe, the blue liquid inside it made Andor’s scalp tighten.
For so reason, he felt a deep-seated panic.
"Wait, wait a minute..." Just as the needle was about to touch his neck, Andor quickly shouted, "Wait, you haven’t asked your questions yet!"
"Oh? You’re responding more positively than last ti, not bad." Lin Qing paused, "Tell about your collaboration with the Dinsional Limit chanism. How did you get the information on Elorie?"
Andor flinched.
These people were actually investigating the origin of the Angel!?
Angels had been extinct for decades; how did they know about this? No, wait... she also asked about the Dinsional Limit chanism, could it be that these people also ca from another world?
Damn it, the chanism never warned about the Demon!
"I’m sorry... I don’t quite understand what you an, is Elorie a person —" Andor had only spoken halfway before the needle plunged into his neck, the sting making him shiver involuntarily, "You—!"
"Mr. Inspector, have you not figured out your situation?" Lin Qing injected with an expressionless face, "This is a professional interrogation room, ant to pry open the mouths of any stubborn individuals. The substance I injected you with isn’t so childish truth serum but a nerve sensitivity agent. It amplifies sensory stimuli by dozens of tis, even the slightest electric shock will cause you bone-deep pain. You have two choices: cooperate with us now, or confess after the interrogation."
"Don’t scare , pain has a threshold!" Andor summoned his courage and growled, "Forcing will only lead to shock or death, you’ll get nothing!"
"You might endure, but can your accomplices endure as well?" Lin Qing took out a remote control and turned on a TV on the wall. The screen showed another two interrogation rooms, where Vandif and Moni were tied to chairs. The latter had clearly been tornted for a long ti, sweating profusely, eyes glazed, seemingly at death’s door.
Seeing the scene before him, Andor felt as though he’d fallen into an icy abyss.
"What’s more, we have the most advanced life-support system here. Even dying is a difficult task. Anyway, let’s give it a try."
Lin Qing finished speaking and attached two wires to his forehead before pressing a switch.
The Demon’s body tensed instantly!
It was a pain beyond his imagination, his entire body felt as if it were being scorched by high heat, seemingly endless, as if his skin were constantly reborn amidst burning, only to be charred, lted again...
This was true hell.
Nothing apart from the words "beg for rcy" could stay in his mind.
When the switch was turned off, Andor trembled like a sieve, uncontrollably vomiting on the ground.
"So, any change of heart?" Lin Qing asked, unmoved.
"I’ll talk, I’ll talk... Please don’t touch it again!" Andor wailed. He had always been the one tornting his prey, never did he expect to fall to such a state himself, "The Dinsional Limit chanism did indeed contact us. But they first reached out not to us, but to the Demon in Jiang City... The, the Angel’s news was also told to us by the chanism!"
"And how did you confirm the news?"
"The Angel’s scent is very distinctive. As long as you get close... you can detect it."
"And then you set a trap for Elorie? Why didn’t she sense you?"
Andor braced himself, "Because... I wore a special ring that can conceal one’s aura."
Lin Qing’s eyes showed a hint of surprise, "The Ring of the Mind?"
But the Demon looked blank.
"Seems not. Tell what kind of ring it is?"
Andor clenched his lips shut, sinking into silence again.
Lin Qing pressed the switch without hesitation.
After a hoarse scream, the Demon could no longer control his facial muscles, drooling incessantly, "It’s, it’s a ring made from the tissue of the Primordial Worm..."
"The Primordial Worm, is it that thing on the Moon?"
Andor mumbled in disbelief, "How, how do you know?"
"So it seems that’s it. After advancents in aerospace technology, you sent people to the Moon and had close contact with the Worm..." Lin Qing didn’t care about his astonishnt, speaking as if to herself, "Originally, they would take the Matriarch Lucy up there, leading to that apocalyptic disaster. Although Elorie avoided that outco, the Demons’ influence on the world wasn’t eliminated. Ultimately, the Angels who balanced them vanished, like a scale missing a weight. If the Demons just caused trouble in their own world, that would be one thing, but they connected with the Dinsional Limit chanism..."
"I’m more curious about what kind of power that Worm represents." A male voice responded.
Was there another person behind him?
Footsteps approached, and the mont Andor saw the figure, his blood froze!
This was one of the real culprits who invaded the banquet hall!
Also the mastermind behind his imprisonnt!
He had always considered himself competent, yet he was crushed in a re instant, without even a chance to probe. Naturally... it wasn’t due to his carelessness but rather the unimaginable fact that this man, though not an Angel, possessed the power of flesh corruption!
"You... what a joke!" Andor suddenly realized that his plot and value might not salvage the destined outco; how could a follower of flesh let Demons living off the Primordial Worm’s power off? "What power? Wouldn’t you, of all people, know best? It’s a presence that’s in no way inferior to the Matriarch of Flesh... an extraterrestrial deity and humanity’s hope for ascension!"
"Ascension?" Chen Xuan didn’t expect to hear this term from the Demon’s mouth.
"What else? To wait for people like you to destroy the world of living beings?" Andor stared at him, desperately shouting, "I’d rather die than beco a pile of unconscious flesh!"
"Don’t be so sure." Chen Xuan frowned, "Tell what you know about the Matriarch of Flesh, what exactly it is? And what are extraterrestrial deities? Why can they help humanity ascend?"
The Demon closed his eyes, staying silent.
Lin Qing didn’t bother with words either, simply turning the switch back on.
But this ti, no matter how painful it was, he didn’t speak again, ultimately slumping in the chair with a tilt of his head.
"He’s dead." Lin Qing stepped forward, checking his pulse.
"Mm." Chen Xuan wasn’t surprised at all, after all, this was already the third round of dreams. "Rest a bit, and prepare for the next round of questioning."
