Werewolf Leveling: Building the Strongest Pack in the Apocalypse Chapter 138: The Supernatural City, Purgatory
We all gathered in my office when it was ti to leave. The witch Ember had arrived, but this ti she was in her true form instead of a projection.
"Here’s the plan," she said, looking at each of us carefully. "My only job is to transport you to Purgatory. That’s it. After you get there, you’ll be on your own. Understood?"
"That’s the plan." I answered. "We also don’t want a witch telling them our every move."
Her smile twitched.
"Let’s get on with this. I don’t want to spend another minute here." Saying this, the witch began casting incantations in the form of a giant magic circle that appeared on the floor of the room.
"Transportation magic," Khalissi humd beside with a small smile on her face.
The witch didn’t pay her words any mind and continued with her incantation. Soon the entire room was enveloped in a tapestry of different colors. Everything around us began to fizzle out, and just then I felt sothing grab my hand. I turned my head to see that it was Sylvie standing beside with a smile on her face.
Soon we were standing in the middle of the street of the supernatural city. The atmosphere also changed. It felt a bit mystical like strange energy was in the air.
So this is what it’s like when different supernatural races gather in one place...
Purgatory looked a lot like any other human city, with towering skyscrapers and crowded streets and sidewalks. The only difference was that it was inhabited by different supernatural creatures, and right off the bat we saw this.
We saw creatures of different kinds and shapes. Creatures that would make the average person run in terror. So of them looked like they ca straight out of soone’s nightmare.
There were creatures with reptilian skin, while others had animal-like fur or even gills. Overs liked like humans only with large fangs in their mouth and varying skin color. So were as small as a child while others were practically giants. But surprisingly, many of them still took on a human form.
"Are there humans here?" I asked.
"You can’t have a settlent without livestock," the witch answered matter-of-factly.
"Darling?"
Suddenly Kumo tugged my shirt and pointed to the sky. I followed her gaze to see paranormal creatures floating above us.
"These look like ghosts," she comnted.
"That’s because they are," the witch comnted. "Purgatory is ho to any and every supernatural race."
Ghost drifting overhead, scaled giants walking past with their family and fanged humanoids bartering in the streets. So this is Purgatory... The city where nightmares walk around like office workers.
"They look completely unaffected by the apocalypse taking place in the outside world." I said.
The witch smiled cockily.
"Purgatory has strong defenses. The only people here are the ones we let in. That is how we’ve managed to stay safe from the demon invasion."
"I see. I made the right choice in making you build that barrier for Ryumon."
So that while we’re here, no one could invade my pack. That was the whole reason I had asked for a barrier in the first place, to safeguard my pack while I was away. Whether it was from demons or vampires.
Speaking of vampires, I sense a few are on their way towards us.
"Prepare yourselves, girls."
"Hmm? What’s happening?" Selthia asked.
"Vampires are coming."
"It can’t be?!" The witch looked completely shocked, and I could tell she wasn’t faking it. "I made sure the vampires didn’t know where I was taking you."
"You really thought they wouldn’t figure it out? I only wanted you to not bring us into a direct ambush, but I knew they would be coming."
"What about the mana crystals?" she hastily asked.
"You want to pay you for not doing your job correctly?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. "The shalessness."
"We had a deal!"
"Which you didn’t live up to. By witches’ rule, the cost would be your life."
She bit her lip. She knew I was correct. By her own rules, it ant she had to die for not coming through on her end of the deal.
"If I don’t show up with the mana crystals, then there are far worse things that will happen to than death. You don’t know how sadistic the witch of greed is?!"
"Talking bad about your master now? Bad girl."
"This isn’t a joke! You have no idea what will happen to !"
"I can’t help you. The only people I help are the ones in my pack. Anyone else is just dead weight."
Her face morphed into a nasty scowl.
"You’re not suggesting that I join your pack, are you?"
I smiled at her.
"I’m not suggesting anything. You can do whatever you want, but the mana crystals will stay with us since you didn’t fulfill your end of our deal. Unless you wish to try and take it from Khalissi."
Khalissi smiled at this and spoke in a happy tone.
"I’m also welco to this suggestion. Let’s see how much magic power this witch holds."
Ember said nothing, but her heartbeat had quickened. She knew she couldn’t hope to defeat a Greater Fiend demon.
"What are you going to do about the vampires?" she finally asked. "If they are coming, wouldn’t it be better for you to run than to stand here talking?"
"You think I ca here to run from my enemies? Let enlighten you. The reason I ca here is to conquer."
Her eyes widened.
"You don’t an..."
"This city is run by vampires and witches, right? I’ll make them all bow to ."
"For a wolf to say sothing this stupid! You really are an idiot! You know nothing of the forces who run this city. They’d put your pet demon to sha. The group of you are nothing. How could you even think you’re going to conquer Purgatory?"
How?
I had no clue.
I may seem over confident but bluffing is also a weapon.
Conquering a city of supernatural creatures more powerful than will prove to be a tough task. I’m still ignorant about this place, so I’ll have to attain knowledge and slowly build my influence.
But to begin, I’ll have to start with one crucial step, and that is to let my presence be known. Right now they see as just a weak werewolf alpha with no power—I’ll have to change that idea.
"Khalissi," I called out to the beautiful demon standing beside . "Wake up this sleeping city, will you?"
Khalissi flashed a cunning smile.
"Are you sure you’re not also a demon? It seems conquering is in your blood," she jested before spreading her wings and taking flight.
Khalissi hovered over the city with a satisfied smile on her face, looking down on the creaturess below her as if they were just re ants. She raised her staff and imdiately a swirling mass of dark energy ford.
"Tenebris Explosio!"
