Werewolf Leveling: Building the Strongest Pack in the Apocalypse Chapter 187: The Hunt
Just a few ters away from where I was, there was a fanged human. It slled like a wendigo just casually going through its day. I quickly suppressed my presence and burst towards it. I used my agility to maneuver through the hotel until I finally caught sight of my prey.
I was right. It was a wendigo. He also seed to be a part of the hotel staff, but that mattered little to . I didn’t waste a second, and before the wendigo could react, my claws slit open its stomach.
The wendigo clutched its stomach and staggered backwards, trying to stop the bleed and stop his organs from falling out. Its eyes were a mixture of panic and disbelief. In the end, I decided to end the creature’s suffering by slitting its throat, but instead I decapitated the creature.
My bloodlust was too high, making it difficult to control my own strength. My throat was so dry and my mind was too foggy to think clearly. I could barely register the mont when I ripped the wendigo’s heart from its chest to when I devoured it.
It all happened before the wendigo’s corpse had a chance to hit the floor, and before it could, I was already off to find my next prey.
My next victim was a vampire. I knew this because his eyes glowed blood red the mont I got in close.
The vampire reacted instantly, swinging his nails, but with my speed it was no different than him standing still.
It took only a tilt of the head, and I watched his attack fly by before I sank my fangs into his neck. His flesh felt as if I was biting through sponge when I chewed through his artery.
The tallic taste of his blood filled my mouth. The vampire gargled on its own blood as blood bubbles popped from its mouth. This ti, instead of killing him, I decided to turn him into a lesser ghoul. This way things would go a lot faster since I didn’t have much ti.
I set the lesser ghoul free in the hotel. Seeing that it was a forr vampire, it should be much stronger than a lot of the creatures here.
"You’re really not holding back, are you?" Khalissi chuckled. "Your strong ambition to level up reminds of soone else."
I ignored her and instead made my way to the lobby where quite a few people were gathered. On my way, I could hear screams. It sounded as if the ghoul I sent out had already found prey. Using my high agility, I pounced through the walls and soon I was at the lobby.
The mood was light with chatter as people gathered in groups with light classical music playing in the background. All of this ca to an end the mont I released my bloodlust. They looked like a pack of herbivores panicking after sensing a predator.
The room consisted of a few vampires, wendigoes, lizard n, and a type of monster that had the body of a fish. There were so other creatures there, but they were of little consequence. The vampires and the lizard n were the ones who posed the most threat, though they were still weak in comparison. I had to be careful.
Most of the staff here were a type of undead that wrapped itself up in white cloth. They were called mummies and were another of the lich’s creations. The receptionist, an undead mummy with the body of a woman, watched the room lazily.
She was the one I targeted first. I was curious about sothing. I wanted to know if a creature like that could be turned into a lesser ghoul, so I put it to the test with one scratch, and to my surprise it didn’t work. I couldn’t turn an undead creature into a ghoul.
In the end, I quickly killed the mummy. One of the lizard n lunged at , its claws poised to rip through my neck. Its movents were quick and lethal; it reminded a lot of how werewolves fought, except lizard n lowered their bodies much lower than us, striking from the ground and even used their tail as a lethal appendage.
I found it fascinating. There was a lot that could be learned from their fighting style. I watched the lizard man try his best to slash at with its claws. There was a sharp swish sound every ti his claws sped past my ear.
At the sa ti, more monsters began surrounding , each trying its best to get a hit, but they only fumbled over themselves when they missed. The vampire, the more tactically sound of the group, tried to sneak up on , and just as it did, my claws made impact with its rib, smashing through it like glass.
I slamd the vampire onto the ground, and at the sa ti the lizard man whipped its tail at , which sounded like a swish blade being drawn. I grabbed the lizard man’s tail and used its montum to propel it into the wall.
I then used my fist to smash the vampire’s head to paste, finishing it off for good. One by one, I killed all the monsters in the lobby and devoured their hearts. I killed all the ones that decided to stay and fight. The others that ran would either be turned into ghouls or be killed by later.
The entire lobby looked like a scene from a horror movie with blood and gore sared all over the floor and walls. By now, the other creatures in the hotel realized what was happening. I could practically sll their panic as they tried desperately to escape, but Khalissi’s spell was keeping them in.
So of the braver, more capable creatures ca looking for . A few vampires, monsters with scales, so with tongues that resembled a snake, and a few that were ghostly specters. But out of those who ca, the one that posed the most threat was the iron golem.
That creature was most likely used as security in case anyone was acting up. The golem stood at around 8 feet tall with its fists on the ground like a gorilla. Its entire body was made from magically enhanced iron.
Golems were built by witches to enhance the physical features they lack. Their only weakness was the magic crystal at the top of their heads, but getting to that crystal is another matter altogether.
Its overbearing figure and dominating strength was another matter. The beast pounded its fist against its chest like a primate before charging at . I barely got out of the way before its massive fist destroyed the area where I stood. The entire area shook from the shockwave that ensued.
I barely had ti to process the destructive force before the beast attacked once again. The building shook from the force of its destructive power. While I dodged the golem’s monstrous attacks, the other supernatural that ca after tried to launch attacks of their own.
The golem was what I was really focused on, so I didn’t try to dodge their attacks. I allowed the lizard man to sink its claws into my rib, and the mont he was close, I decapitated the green-scaled reptile.
GRAHHH!!!
The golem roared loudly. Its tallic body seed to enhance the sound, making it sound like a sonic blast had gone off. My ears rang from the destructive sound, but I wasn’t the only one. The monsters trying to attack also suffered.
I could call on my shadow hounds to help, but I wanted every kill. I wanted every drop of EXP I could get, and so that ant fighting alone. Which was also why I sent away the girls and warned Khalissi to not get in my way.
I used the confusion caused from the golem’s roar to take out the rest of the monsters while they were off guard. My movents were quick and fluid as I cut them down one by one, and for my efforts, I got a total of 437 EXP. A drop in a bucket compared to what I needed.
Now that they were out of the way, I returned my attention back to the golem. On its next attack, I used my claws to try and cut through its iron body. It made a high-pitch screech, and thankfully I was able to pierce through the enhanced iron, but all my attacks would an nothing if I wasn’t able to destroy the magic crystal glowing on its head.
Since my claws were able to penetrate its iron body, I ripped through its right leg, forcing it to lower itself towards . Then, using every power I could summon, I leaped towards the mana crystal glowing softly on its head.
A lash of magical energy exploded when my claws made contact with the mana crystal. The mana crystal on its head was nothing more than a dot, a small pebble, and still it was able to power such a powerful creature.
I didn’t get any EXP from killing the creature, but still I found the battle experience I gained from fighting such a creature well worth it.
The golem collapsed to the ground like a pile of scraps, and without wasting a second, I was already off to find my next prey.
