Chapter 63: Accidental Death! Knighting Ceremony!

“ Hehehe… no, no, Lady Eve. ”

As soone who loved showing off, Eve could not stand others showing off in front of her—especially in such a low-level manner.

Clearly, these Quasi-Knights had not yet adapted to their new swordsmanship instructor.

Rog lowered his head and walked out of the container.

“Don’t be discouraged. Our path as knights has only just begun.” Fidis tried to encourage Rog.

From this mont on, the three of them had already separated from the group of Knight’s Squires.

As Quasi-Knights of the sa batch, he should offer so encouragent.

But soon, even he couldn’t smile anymore.

“Scale two.”

Fidis’ expression turned awkward.

The recorder faithfully noted it down on Fidis’ record sheet.

The five knights beside them showed no change in expression.

Rog and Fidis had only just begun learning the Breathing Technique—this level of progress was entirely normal.

After all, practicing the Breathing Technique was asured in years.

Being able to enter the basics at their age already made them stand out.

To accumulate gray aura and break into the second stage usually required several years or even over a decade.

Soone like Eve, who broke through to the second stage at eighteen, was already considered a genius among Quasi-Knights.

Next, only the final person remained—Leo.

But just as Leo stepped out of the line—

A rapid sound of galloping hooves approached.

A fast horse rushed straight toward the training ground and stopped in front of Laforin.

It was one of his internal guards.

The assessnt had been suddenly interrupted, and Laforin was clearly displeased. “What’s the matter? Why are you in such a panic? Can’t you see an assessnt is in progress?”

“My apologies, Sir Knight!” The guard steadied his breath and jumped down from the horse. “Butler Burton drove a carriage toward the town just now. When passing by the moat, he urged the horse too hard, causing it to lose control. The carriage, along with the people inside, fell into the moat.”

“What did you say!” The one who reacted the most was Zoro on the other side.

Burton was his biological father. Although he no longer had much affection left, he still had to act anxious.

Zoro quickly left, followed by a large group of Quasi-Knights behind him.

Nearly four-fifths of the Quasi-Knights followed him.

These were all mbers of the Battlefield Faction.

Less than ten people remained on the training ground.

“How could sothing like this happen? ” Laforin looked toward outside the castle, frowning. “I’ll go take a look. You all continue the assessnt.”

I’ll go too.” Eve followed along as well.

Burton had served Laforin for decades, and he had watched Eve grow up since childhood—it was only right for her to check on the situation.

The remaining Quasi-Knights, seeing Eve leave, also gradually dispersed.

Now, the training ground was almost completely empty.

Only four of the five knights, the recorder, and Leo’s group of three remained.

Leo looked in the direction where the crowd had left, a thought stirring in his mind.

He hadn’t expected it to succeed.

After being heavily injured earlier, combined with this incident, that person should be dead now.

Back then, Leo had noticed Burton’s expression.

That was the expression of soone who intended to kill.

Burton would definitely learn about this matter—there was no way he would let Leo off.

So Leo had let the horse “help” and send Eddie on his final journey.

The moat was the castle’s defensive trench—dug deep to resist Beastkin. Leo hadn’t expected the plan to go so smoothly.

“Stop watching the commotion. Continue. You’re the only one left.” Ross’ expression was sowhat impatient.

Clearly, the Breathing Technique test for these three new Quasi-Knights was rely a formality.

But in the next mont, she was completely stunned.

“How much?”

“Forty-seven…” The recorder was the first to be shocked.

She herself had trained the Breathing Technique for two and a half years and had only reached a progress of twenty-five.

Yet this Leo had already reached forty-seven!

“Forty-seven?! How is that possible?” Ross stared at Leo inside the container, who looked entirely ordinary, her face full of disbelief.

“Co out and test again.” Anthony frowned.

“Yes, yes, test again.” Ray also found it hard to believe this result.

In all these years, they had never seen soone this fast.

Not even the Second Young Lady back then had progressed at such a speed.

Leo obediently stepped out of the enclosure, while Anthony began inspecting the instrunt.

Only after receiving his approval did Leo step inside again.

Ross moved close to the liquid surface and counted grid by grid—indeed.

Not more, not less. Forty-seven.

“Damn it… Blackstone City has produced a genius.”

……

In the banquet’s back hall, Laforin looked at the servants bustling around in chaos like ants on a hot pan.

“What did you just say happened to old Burton?” Lady Manta had also arrived.

She would attend tonight’s knighting ceremony and banquet as the knight’s wife.

“His nephew was injured during the assessnt. He took him to find Grell for treatnt, but he drove the horse too hard. The carriage overturned and fell into the moat.”

Lady Manta was startled and adjusted her monocle. “Is the old man alright?”

Laforin shook his head. “The water was too deep. By the ti they were pulled out, both were already drowned.”

“Ah?” Lady Manta covered her mouth, too shocked to speak.

Laforin looked at the servants before him. Without Burton’s command, they were like a scattered ss, completely directionless.

“Tonight’s banquet and knighting ceremony will be simplified.”

Hearing Laforin’s order, the servants in the distance visibly relaxed.

As for Burton, they had no emotional attachnt to him. The butler had always been respectful only toward the master’s family—toward servants, he was like an old devil.

So of the more senior servants had already begun eyeing the position of butler.

“Dover.” Laforin called out to a middle-aged servant.

“At your command, Sir.” Dover lowered his head, bowing even more than usual.

“Prepare two high-quality coffins. Bury Burton tomorrow. Also, prepare pen and paper—I need to write a letter to the Baron of Wheat Ear City.”

“Understood, Sir.” Dover acted quickly, sensing that his opportunity had finally arrived. He hurried off at once.

“I heard that little fellow nad Leo has quite good talent.” Lady Manta walked up to Laforin and helped adjust his buttons.

“Yes—not quite good. Extrely good.” Laforin’s gaze was deep. “I originally planned to have Eve take him as an attendant. With his talent, I’m afraid…”

“Afraid of what? You blockhead, all you think about is knights and loyalty. Can’t there be other prospects?”

……

An hour later, the five knights and all the Quasi-Knights gathered in the Knight Hall before the statue of the Holy Light Knight.

The knighting ceremony was about to begin.

“I heard today’s banquet has canceled the dance segnt.” Arthur looked sowhat disappointed.

It had been a long ti since he had attended a proper dance.

Now he sowhat missed that lively atmosphere.

“They said Butler Burton drove too fast, the carriage overturned, fell into the water, and he died together with Eddie.” Fidis had just heard the news.

As soone who believed in the Knight’s Code, Fidis showed the appropriate respect toward death.

Unexpectedly, Leo appeared even more grief-stricken than him. “Damn it… how could this happen?”

Leo’s face showed deep self-bla—after all, everything had started because he had injured Eddie.

“This isn’t your fault. Giving your all is also a form of respect toward your opponent.” Fidis comforted Leo.

After the battle earlier, the relationship between the two had clearly grown closer.

“Life and death are fated. He brought this upon himself.” Arthur also tried to comfort Leo.

Leo continued his act for a while, until the entire hall suddenly fell silent.

The knighting ceremony began.

A priest from the Church stood at the front, reciting prayers.

“ …In the na of the Father of Light and the Holy Spirit, we bear witness to the birth of a loyal knight. ” After a long prayer, the ceremony officially began.
