Baron shook his head again. "It’s not that I’m scared. It’s just, why should I do what you say?"
Tate was clearly determined to expose Baron’s "false front," and said imdiately:
"If what you say is true, 500 Silver Coins."
Silver Coins was 5 Gold Coins, an amount a Demon Hunter could only save up after three or four years, once living and equipnt costs were deducted.
It was an undeniably generous offer.
But Baron still shook his head.
Tate said angrily, "You must be afraid of being exposed."
Baron smiled. "I just don’t think the stakes are high enough."
"You’re insatiably greedy!"
"Does this an the Vice Gang Leader thinks he’s going to lose?" Baron said nonchalantly. "If that’s the case, then let’s just call off the test."
Tate quickly cald down at his words, fearing he was falling for a goad.
He analyzed the situation for a mont, then glanced at Yalilan, whose brow had been furrowed ever since Victor proposed the "Honesty test." He then saw Victor’s equally grave expression and felt his own resolve harden slightly.
He figured Baron was most likely bluffing.
He imdiately said, "What are your terms?"
Baron smiled. "Simple. The loser pays ten Gold Coins, hands over a Secret Technique, and has to kneel to the other, grab a microphone, and shout ’I was wrong!’ for the whole room to hear."
"How about it? Scared?" Baron said, his eyes narrowing.
Unexpectedly, Tate hesitated for only a mont before agreeing outright.
He looked at Victor. "Then I’ll be counting on you, Captain Victor."
Victor nodded, took a step forward, and said to Baron, "Please ask a question, Mr. L."
Baron: "?"
Lewis explained, "It’s a necessary condition to activate [Honesty]. Each ti you want to ask a question, you must first answer one."
’Equivalent exchange. I get it.’
Baron sized up Victor, who was powerfully built with a righteous face—the very model of a modern, virtuous Knight.
After a mont of silence, he said:

When he posed this question, the few people nearby were stunned. After a mont of silence, they were stunned all over again.
Victor, who had originally intended to use this opportunity to ask Baron about the "reason for Gawain’s three bows," found his brow furrowed, and it stayed that way.
After a mont, he said, "Forget it. I’m not asking."
