Olivia gave my mask and we walked up to the gates where the doors were already locked tight.

I thought we would be stopped but the mont the guard saw us from inside his guard room, he rushed out and unlocked the gate for us to enter while offering a salute.

I gave him a nod of thanks before following after Olivia, the red skinned Oni not showing any hesitation in her steps.

The entire compound was silent and it felt eerie just walking down the path that headed deeper inside the camp, almost like I was moving through so abandoned ruins.

Obviously that wasn’t the case here as we reached one of the buildings inside to find a dark skinned, uniford man standing outside the door.

He saw us and imdiately straightened himself to salute.

"Mortal God. I am Assistant Commissioner Koh. I apologise for asking to et you in such a place and would have offered better hospitality but... I beg for your understanding under the present circumstances."

I nodded at him, "No worries. What is this about?"

"As I have inford Miss Olivia here... We believe we know who is responsible for the attempt on your life."

"That’s surprising... I expected them to cover their tracks better or sothing."

"Admittedly... They were overconfident because they expected the attack to succeed and felt that there wouldn’t be a need to cover their tracks afterwards since we would not be able to retaliate. If our information is correct, they had prioritised everything into delivering the attack as swiftly as possible by sacrificing their own anonymity."

"Interesting... So who is it?"

"That’s the thing... It’s not just one but actually a group of them conspiring together against us."

I frowned, "Our neighbours?"

"Thankfully no. It’s people from the UAS, the ECL and the SLF."

"Basically the western hemisphere..." I noted.

He nodded, "Yes. I believe they have planned this in advance and not just for us, but for every other country they believe would have a Mortal God awaken in so that they can limit the power the east has to limit the threat they face."

"I’m honestly surprised you managed to find that out."

"As I ntioned, Divine One, they did not try to hide their involvent."

Olivia was next to ask, "How did they manage to get so many people into our midst without us noticing?"

The Assistant Commissioner made a face, "This is going to sound very bad but... They’re sleeper agents. From their records, they might have even been planted here as far back as four years ago. At this point, I believe they have such agents planted all throughout the rest of our South Asian Conglorate in every country possible."

Olivia grumbled, "Which ans we can’t even trust our own people..."

He shook his head, "The other issue is that we don’t even know how far up the chain it goes so if you want my advice... It would be best that you don’t trust anyone right now... At least anyone that is from our own world."

I raised an eyebrow at him, "How do we know we can trust you then?"

"You can’t. Take my words with a grain of salt, Divine One. Assu everyone here has a possibility to stab you in the back. That’s my advice."

This guy is surprisingly straight forward huh? I wonder how did Olivia manage to get him to tell us this considering that this information is pretty damning to the country’s security if it’s ever leaked out.

Olivia nodded at him, "Thanks for the information."

"Anyti. I still owe you for that ti you saved my life."

Oh... That explains why he went out of his way to give us this information then.

I wondered what happened for her to save his life but I guess this wasn’t the ti to ask them to give a recount of their personal histories so we left the place.

Instead of guiding out to the gates, she brought to the carpark next to the building instead, the woman climbing into an especially large SUV.

I climbed into the passenger seat while noting that the driver seat was pulled back quite a bit with the steering wheel also similarly pulled back, obviously to accommodate the taller driver.

Olivia climbed into the driver’s seat and her head was pretty much pressing against the ceiling and I noted two obvious holes in the fabric where her horns had ripped it open.

Oof... Guess being tall has its downsides too.

"Let drive you back, my Lord," She told as she started the car.

I turned to her, "What if I had said that I wasn’t able to co here tonight?"

"Then I would have just gone to et him myself and reported what he said to you, my Lord. I just thought that it would be better if you heard it yourself and in person. We can’t trust that our networks aren’t compromised at the mont either."

"Was it alright for to reveal myself to him though?"

She started to pull out into the driveway, "It’s fine because it wouldn’t matter even if he stabs us in the back and reveals that you are still alive. By that ti, we should be ready to move forward with revealing your presence again, my Lord."

I raised an eyebrow, "What’s the change then?"

"I’ve mostly confird that what he revealed to us is true, I just needed a second person to confirm it before I am ready to go forward with the next phase. Since we already know that most people form this World can’t be trusted, then we will screen for people from other Worlds."

"You can’t an... To staff the entire facility with only people from other Worlds?"

"Not everyone. Just most of them. Luckily for us, we have quite a number of such people living here already."

That’s true... Singapore was one of the places that had allowed a number of the aliens to settle within its borders.

Honestly, it wasn’t out of the kindness of our hearts that we accepted them to be resettled here. There was quite a bit of suspicion and resistance against the appearance of these aliens and most countries actually didn’t want to deal with a whole bunch of people from another World taking refuge in their own country.

So in the end, most of these refugees got pushed to countries that did not have a Mortal God to have a say in this matter and were forced to accept them.

Fortunately, we were quite lucky as we lost quite a lot of our country’s workforce when people started awakening their powers. Not because they were dying but a large percentage of our workforce actually cos from foreign workers.

When they awakened their abilities, they returned to their country as they had now beco assets which their ho country would definitely not want soone else to have.

And when a large portion of your workforce suddenly ups and leaves, especially when they are legal workers, a lot of problems could occur.

Thus, we volunteered to take in a large number of the refugees and gave them work to do, which allowed them to settle into our country pretty easily as evidenced by Olivia here.

For them, they were just grateful that they managed to find a place where they could integrate easily and most just jumped at the chance to move here.

We already had a pretty diverse culture to begin with so most people adapted to their presence pretty quickly.

So for Olivia to propose a majority ’alien’ work force isn’t actually impossible and actually very doable.

Naturally, our country has laws in place that restrict company hiring by implenting quotas that dictate how many aliens they can hire based on how many locals they have working in their company, but I’m going to guess that they won’t be applying that sa law to a group working under .

Olivia pulled up to the gate and the guard opened it without a word, allowing us to drive out into the main road.

"How long will it take to implent this?" I asked.

"By the end of the week, my Lord. We have to make sure that nothing like this happens again and you will be able to operate at your full capacity without any unnecessary oversight."

"Would our governnt even allow sothing like that?"

"They have no choice. Not if they want to keep you, my Lord. Even the slowest of politicians know not to risk your wrath. They are also aware that the danger also cos from within and it would be foolish not to expect the perpetrators not to try this again after failing once."

Huh... That’s unexpectedly smart of them... I would have honestly thought that they would hem and haw about this and try to pull into their sphere of influence instead.

Unless... Olivia was the one who talked sense into them and that’s what she’s been doing for the past few days?

She must have been working hard...
