I shut off the Travel drives as Denibi station ca into view.
As I had rembered the last ti I ca here, there were a whole different bunch of ships hovering around the station.
There were a mix of pirate ships and independent ships which I guess were rcenaries or traders.
"Captain, we have permission to dock," Mara announced from her position at the comms.
A screen popped up to my side that showed the docking bay that we were granted docking access to and I steered the ship towards the direction of that part of the station.
There were several other C Class ships heading towards the sa place with most of them being traders as well.
As our ship moved towards an approach vector following behind a trail of other freighters in front of us, several ships suddenly appeared to block the way.
There was a C Class Corvette that completely blocked the way while being flanked by three A Class fighters and three A Class bombers.
The freighter at the front of the line slowed down and I could just imagine the captain of that ship cursing up a storm at the blockage.
I had to slow down as well lest I crashed into the ship in front of and I assu the ship at the front was contacting the captain of the corvette to demand an explanation.
Both Mara and Amber let out a groan at the sa ti when they saw the scene.
I turned back to lift an eyebrow at her, "What is it?"
"Do you want to make a scene, Tera?" Amber asked.
I raised an eyebrow at her, "What do you an?"
She gestured to the ships blocking the way, "Take a guess why these guys are blocking only freighters that obviously belong to rchants or traders."
It only took a second before I let out a groan of my own.
These guys are most definitely pirates who are blocking rchants from reaching the station in order to extort us.
It looks like they are specifically targeting freighter ships that do not have an escort because there were a few other freighter ships that they weren't stopping since those had escort ships with them.
In other words, these guys are just after what they deem to be easy pickings.
I sighed, "So what are the options? Could we just shoot them?"
Mara turned to , "That depends on whether they are affiliated with one of the bigger gangs in the station. And with those numbers, we might get so damage to the shi--"
"No, we won't," Lea interjected, her gaze locked on the console in front of her. "They will not be able to get past the shields before I get them."
I actually trust Lea on that.
Amber turned to , "That's why I asked if you wanted to make a scene, Tera? We could probably take them out but it would definitely piss off whoever is above them."
I sighed, "Alright, let's see what they want from us. If it's just a few hundred Credits, we can just pay them off to leave us alone. But if their demands are too much then we'll just shoot them down. We'll just make the sale of our stuff and then we get the hell out before whoever is in charge of them does anything to us."
"That's pretty optimistic…" Mara pointed out.
Amber giggled, "Ehehehe, Tera's luck is incredible though so whatever she wishes for would definitely co true!"
I rolled my eyes at her comnt but I couldn't say anything about it since there were examples to prove her point.
"What do you an by that?" Mara asked.
Amber had a smug grin on her face as she explained, "Oh you should have seen it! When we were at a Pleasure Station the other day, we went to the roulette table and everything she bet on was a win! Like everything!"
I saw Mara narrow her eyes at Amber but she chose not to say anything.
It took a few minutes before the freighter at the very front seed to be allowed to go as the corvette that had been blocking the way moved out of the way and the freighter continued onward.
The next freighter tried to go around the small blockade but the fighters quickly moved to block the way and even fired a warning shot at it before the corvette moved in front to block it.
The freighter right behind it turned away and tried to move the other way to go past the pirate blockade.
The bombers fired a shot at the freighter that struck its shield.
This one chose not to stop and fired up its engines to try and boost past the blockade.
One of the bombers then flew close to the freighter and nothing seed to happen for a while before the freighter's engines suddenly sputtered and died.
Ah… I'm assuming the freighter got hacked and they disabled the engines.
Damn, no wonder they're so confident of dealing with the line of freighters by themselves…
The second freighter must have chosen to pay the pirates and was allowed to pass but for the third freighter, two fighters flew over and started to board it.
That left the rest to continue their little extortion job and I was the next in line.
I started moving forward and Mara turned back to , "We're being hailed, Captain."
I nodded at her to patch the transmission through and a window opened in front of to show a rather young looking man with swept back brown hair and an arguably dazzling smile.
"Hey there! Just so you know, there's a toll for making use of the larger docks so it's a--"
"Hey, hey, hey! Let them pass damnit!" Soone off screen shouted.
The guy in front of frowned and turned to the side, "What did you say?"
"I said let them pass, you idiot! That's a Broadsword with three SN-one Railguns and two Manifold High Intensity Lasers! Those things would lt through us like we aren't even there, you idiot!"
The guy turned back to frown at , "Hey! You aren't thinking of shooting us are you?! We're mbers of the Ratlers! You screw with us and you wouldn't have a good ti on the station either! You got--"
Soone ca up behind the guy and smacked him on the head, "Shut up, go sowhere else you idiot! You wanna die so badly, go die yourself! Don't risk my ship for this! Do you know how much I spent to get this ship?!"
Since the guy was standing outside the fra, I'm not sure how the guy looked like but his voice still ca through the screen.
"You over there, get lost."
The screen then shut off without waiting for a response and the Corvette moved away from to approach the next freighter in line.
Err… Ok? That was certainly not what I expected to happen but I guess I'm not going to complain.
And no need to ask to get lost because we already didn't want to stay here anyway.
"Tch…"
Did I just hear Lea cluck her tongue in disappointnt? That was just my imagination, wasn't it?
I decided not to ask and just activated the thrusters to continue our approach vector towards the dock.
Amber chuckled, "See? What did I say about it?"

Mara scoffed at her, "I'm pretty sure this isn't luck. They just saw a ship with bigger guns and decided we weren't going to be as easy to intimidate as the others."
Amber simply shrugged at her and let the topic end there.
Right then, the door opened and Ries entered, her ears twitching slightly when she saw .
"Hey Boss~ Did I miss anything?" She asked.
"Not at all~ You ca right on ti."
The other three girls gave the Maochatte sympathetic looks but she did not notice.
We approached the station's docks and I initiated the docking process, allowing my ship to lock itself to the station.
As the ship powered down, I turned towards the girls.
"Alright, let's go through our plans. Main business here is to sell off those organs in the black market while I look for anything else we could trade. Mara will be looking for information we can use and the others stock up on supplies and look for any opportunities we can make use of, including Guild quests if there's anything worth our ti doing."
Amber raised her hand, "Any kind of jobs? Including delivery or escort jobs?"
I shrugged, "As long as the pay is good, I don't really care."
"Ooohhh~ Anything?"
I narrowed my eyes suspiciously at Amber, "What are you even thinking about doing?"
She gave a peace sign, "Don't worry, Tera! I'll make sure that I will only find the most well paying jobs for us!"
I turned to Lea and Ries, "Watch her for , won't you?"
"Leave it to , Mistress."
" too, Boss!"
Amber pouted at but quickly forgot about it after I gave everyone a kiss before leaving the bridge.
Alright, get to work, girls!
