"They're even using a ch like this inside their base? Are they not afraid of destroying it?" I asked, looking at the crushed remains of the ch.

"Most likely they saw that Mara was a Psionic and they knew if they didn't take any drastic asures, they would lose this base anyway," Amber suggested.

The person in question frowned, "They might have more surprises inside, Captain. I cannot guarantee that I will be able to deal with everything as easily as we thought."

I nodded, "That just ans we need to be more careful then. But what are the chances they have another ch like this? Ries? You said this was a construction ch?"

The Maochatte jumped slightly from hearing her na but nodded quickly, "Yes! The T-Seven Construction ch made by Artoka Heavy Industries! It's quite widely used in the outer colonies since the arms can be easily modified with a variety of tools but… Well… It's popular with pirates and other criminals too because it's basically a cheaper Power Armour without the shield, firepower and mobility of one. And I guess it could be arguably more intimidating because of its size."

"So is it expensive on its own?" I asked, thinking that we just missed out on a chance to cash in on sothing big.

She waved her hand in front of her, "Oh no, no. The ch itself is not expensive. You could probably get one for like… Maybe a few hundred thousand Credits? Depending on what model it is and where you buy it from of course. It's the modification that might cost a lot. And this one was only basically given a shoulder mounted heavy cannon."

Right… But that's still a few hundred thousand Credits we could earn though…

As if reading my thoughts, Ries quickly added, "Umm… Just saying Boss… I don't think we can transport this back to the ship anyway… Seeing that there was only one small entrance, I think this ch was already in this factory and the thugs just took control of it and modified it as a defense system instead of bringing this in from the outside. So the likelihood of them having another one of these is quite low."

Ah… I guess that's true… I certainly wouldn't want to dismantle the entire thing just to bring the parts through the door one by one then assemble it again in my ship…

I looked in the direction of where the ch ca from and found a large double door that I assud was where it had co from.

Right now it was shut tight and since the ch had so helpfully cleared the path to it by breaking down the shelves, we headed straight towards it.

The door remained shut even with us walking up to it.

Guess they must have locked it then.

There was a loud grinding sound as the locks for the doors slid open before the door halves separated with a loud hiss.

All of us took cover at the side of the doorfra, just in case they had their guns aid at the door.

When it finally opened up, we found a group of thugs in the midst of moving boxes around, presumably to make a barricade to hide behind.

They most likely did not expect the ch to be killed this quickly and thought they would at least have so ti to set up so defenses in case the ch lost.

It seems like this was a hallway that connected to the deeper parts of the factory though I did spot several doors along the sides of the corridor, which I was unsure where they led to at the mont.

All the thugs were thus looking in our direction with dumbfounded expressions on their faces while they froze in the mid movent.

One of them dropped the box he was holding and that was the signal for chaos to start.

I fired the first shot, blasting the thug that dropped the box back to crash into the makeshift barricade.

The rest of the girls also opened fire, lighting the corridor up.

The thugs who could not react in ti ended up getting filled with bullet holes, especially when Ries's machine gun started mowing them down like weeds.

The rest managed to leap behind the barricades to take cover, hoping that the boxes would protect them against our hailstorm of bullets.

Mara raised her hands and several of the boxes the thugs had been using as barricades rose up into the air, exposing them to our gunfire.

The thugs who had found themselves suddenly deprived of a cover gaped at us right before they were blasted to bits by a mix of machine gun, handgun, sniper and shotgun bullets.

While those thugs were being mowed down, Mara used the boxes that she had lifted to smash them into the other barricades, destroying a good chunk of them and crushing any thugs unfortunate enough to be hiding behind them.

Sothing I noticed was that only a few of them tried to return fire while most of them were either running away or just hiding behind their barricades.

I then realised these guys must have thought they had ti to set up the barricades first and left their weapons sowhere else.

Welp, that worked in our favour.

Speaking of those that were running away… Letting them warn the others that their defenses were breached would not be good so we have to take care of them before they do that.

I leapt over one of the crushed barricades and shot one another thug that had tried to peek out from another barricade to my right.

My shield flashed for a mont as it blocked a shot from soone to my left but I didn't need to worry because a sniper round soon pierced through the head of my attacker, allowing to make a break for it.

After clearing the barricades, I had a clear sight of the group of six that were running towards the end of the hallway.

I levelled my shotgun and fired two shots quickly, the buckshot pellets peppering the back of three thugs and dropping them onto the ground.

The other three were a little further away so I quickly switched my grip on my shotgun to my left hand to pull out my pistol with my right, taking a mont to aim before firing three rounds in quick succession, blasting all three of their heads open with my pistol rounds.

Soone let out a yell from behind and I reacted imdiately by diving forward and rolling into a crouch to aim my pistol behind .

The thug that tried to attack with a tal pipe from behind froze as he saw the weapon levelled at him, which was all he managed to do before I fired two shots into his chest.

He fell backward and dropped the pipe, which seed to have set off a few thugs as they also tried to pick up makeshift weapons to attack .

I tossed my pistol into the air and transferred my shotgun to my right hand before catching my pistol with my left hand.

With both weapons in hand, I pointed at the charging mob and fired a salvo of kinetic rounds at them.

The first three guys imdiately went down while two thugs got shot from behind by a sniper round blasting through their heads, courtesy of Lea.

I aid my pistol and fired two more tis, the bullets piercing through the chest of a thug and dropping him to the ground.

One of them leapt the last few tres with his tal pipe raised above his head, letting out a warcry as he attempted to smash with his weapon.

I swung my shotgun and aid it at his chest, firing my weapon from the hip and blasting him back to crash into another thug.

The last three didn't even manage to reach because Amber jumped in from behind and kicked one across the face while shooting another in the back.

The one she had kicked ended up stumbling away to crash into the last guy, sending both n tumbling to the floor.

My blonde haired lover then landed on her feet and spun back around to fire her two pistols at the two thug's heads, blasting their brain matter all over the floor.

I looked back at the barricades only to see that all of them had been flattened or tossed aside thanks to Mara.

Several of the thugs had raised their hands in surrender and were even pleading for rcy.

"Please! Let us go! We didn't even do anything to you!" One of them pleaded.

The girls looked at , obviously letting decide their fate.

There was only one answer to that.

We could not leave any witnesses, especially since we've shown that Mara was a Psionic.

"Kill them," I ordered.

Our guns fired again and the rest of the thugs dropped onto the ground.

Sorry, but we're not taking any prisoners.
