The Psionic Shadow that was pulling along increased its speed and turned around the corner of the corridor without slowing down.

The others behind also executed the sa manoeuvre and we managed to clear the corner without much effort.

Then the giant lizard ca right after and smashed into the wall to slow itself down, except the wall wasn't strong enough to hold its weight and the lizard ended up smashing through the wall like the other walls it had crashed into so far.

This was our one advantage over the monster as we are able to make high speed turns without slowing down as we sohow weren't affected by montum.

But that didn't faze it as it was soon hot on our heels again as it crashed through another wall to reappear in the corridor, resuming the chase.

The drones chasing after it fired their attached machine guns at the lizard but they might as well be firing BB pellets since the lizard completely ignored them as the bullets bounced off its invisible shield.

The other Psionic Chrysalis and the variants were doing their best to attack the lizard as well but the monster simply shrugged off the attacks like they weren't even there.

If we had a way to kill this thing, we would have turned around and destroyed it already but no matter what we threw at it, it seed to be completely ineffective.

There was also one other problem…

"No!! This is another dead end! Get inside that room!" I shouted through the suit's external speakers, pointing at the open door at the left.

Yeah… So rember how I thought that they knew we wanted to go to the docking bay and were pulling us there? Turns out they didn't know the way and were just trying to get us away because they knew the lizard was coming.

At least that showed we could trust them sowhat since they could have just abandoned us after we freed them. Though maybe that's because they needed us to get them to that planet.

The Psionic Shadow obeyed and turned to fly into the room, the others also turning in after .

"Stop!" I cried out, prompting everyone to co to a halt in midair.

The room was so kind of staff room but that wasn't the important part.

I turned around to see a mass of scales flying past the doorway, smashing through the wall at the end of the corridor.

"Go, go!!" I cried out.

Our group flew out through the doorway again, turning past to the right to fly back where we had co from.

I could hear a frustrated roar coming from behind, a part of my mind still wondering just how we were able to hear that thing's roar despite this current environnt.

I desperately tried to look at my Codex even as we neared a junction, trying to decipher our current location on the map being projected in front of .

Staff room… Staff room… There isn't a goddamned room that was labelled as 'staff room' here damn it!!

What about an interse-- Ahhh! We're already reaching it!

"Turn right! Right!" I cried out, prompting the Psionic Shadow to spin towards the right to turn the corner.

I quickly checked the map again, looking for a dead end with an intersection nearby.

"Mistress… Look for Research Lab twelve. We just passed it."

I really want to ask how she managed to see anything while we were flying so fast but I had other things to worry about right now.

I did as she asked and found the lab in question easily enough.

"Got it! There's a turn right up ahead! Then there will be a junction right after that! Turn left at that junction!"

As shown on the map, a turn really appeared and the Psionic Shadow turned with the corridor.

Just a short distance away was the junction I had ntioned and the Psionic Shadow was already moving to make the turn as per my orders.

After that, it should just be a straight path down towards the T-Junction that would lead us to the docking hatch where our ship was.

Right as we made the turn however, the right wall of the corridor in front of us suddenly exploded, revealing the giant lizard smashing through to block our path forward.

"Damn it! We'll need to lure it away from here because that's the only path to the ship! Go back! Go back!"

The Psionic Shadows started pulling us back the way we ca but unexpectedly, the lizard let out another roar at us.

Unlike the other roars, this one actually let out so kind of force blast at us and I suddenly found myself being flung away.

The Psionic Shadow that had been pulling lost her grip on and I ended up being blasted down one end of the junction.

Unfortunately for , this was not the corridor that we had co from and it looks like the others were sent flying away to a different part of the junction instead.

I activated my suit's thrusters and killed my montum, but it wasn't fast enough as I ended up crashing against the wall and bouncing off of it before hitting the ceiling and bouncing off again.

I tried to grab onto anything I could to stop myself and I felt my hand drag across the wall before I bumped into it again and bounced off.

My vision spun wildly as my suit's thrusters got confused in the direction of where I wanted to right myself after bouncing around so many tis.

Finally, I managed to grab onto sothing that was sticking out and I jerked back as I held onto the object tightly, pulling myself back to avoid crashing into another wall.

Thankfully, my shotgun was strapped to my back so I didn't need to worry about it flying off sowhere.

I then looked above , trying to figure out which side was 'up'.

What I saw, however, was the giant lizard charging straight at from down the corridor.

What the fuck?! Why are you after ?! Weren't you supposed to be chasing after those Psionic Shadows?!

I couldn't even do anything but brace myself before the lizard ramd its body against , sending flying even further down the corridor and spinning uncontrollably.

I instinctively raised my hands to protect my helt, right before pain exploded in my arms as I crashed into sothing solid and bouncing away.

When I tried to look through my hands, I found the lizard still chasing after , as though it was determined to finish off.

Seriously, why is it after ?!!

Desperate, I quickly reached behind to pull out my shotgun and fired a slug round at it.

I watched as the slug round pinged off its snout which only made it flinch slightly but did nothing to stop its forward montum as it continued charging towards .

I fired a few more shots, using the blast from the gun to propel myself back even while I was still spinning round and round.

At this point, I was trying to look for sowhere that I could hide in and let the lizard fly past but it was already difficult to get my spinning under control so I don't even know if I could even hide myself even if I found a space to do so.

Right then, it opened its jaws and rows upon rows of serrated teeth greeted , revealing the monster's intention of eating .

Again, why the hell is it trying to eat ?! I'm not a Psionic Shadow, you know?!! Is it doing this because it realised that I was the one behind freeing those kids? Does it think that I can give it more or sothing? Or is it doing this for revenge?

Whatever the reason is, this thing really wants to kill !

I took aim at the mouth and fired inside it, hoping that this might be a weak spot that I could capitalise on.

But instead of flying into its mouth, it bounced off its invisible shield and embedded itself into the wall to my right.

I still continued to fire as it still gave the extra boost to just stay out of reach of it.

Right then, it suddenly lunged forward and I found myself right in between its jaws.

A sudden realisation that I might actually die here washed over and I had a single mont to wonder if I would actually respawn or load back a save from this.

Obviously the sound wasn't there but that was what I heard in my mind.

The only thing was… It did not close its mouth on but rather, it suddenly retreated back and its mouth snapped shut right in front of , its snout literal inches away from my face.

When I looked behind it, I realised Amber was there holding its tail and…
