I watched as the mob of researchers rushed towards , all of their hands grabbing at as though they were trying to strangle .
Surprisingly, the five researchers that we were escorting quickly stood in their way, using themselves as a shield to block the mob from reaching .
I thought they were protecting at first until they started yelling at them.
"Back off! We got here first!"
"We get first dibs on the Crystals!!"
"We only asked for the research lead! Why the heck are all of you here?!"
"Get in line you thieving vultures! We were here first!!"
"You guys better stop right there or we're gonna beat you!!"
Right… They were trying to protect the Crystals… Of course they were…
The mob didn't try to stop themselves and crashed into the group of five and surprisingly, they managed to dig in their heels and hold them back, the five of them only sliding back a tre or so before stopping.
How the heck did they even manage to stop the entire-- Oh… I see your hand waving over there, Amber…
She must be using her telekinesis to stop them and making it look like it was the five of them stopping them sohow.
"Haaaaa!! You're not touching the box on my watch!!"
"Grrrr!! Hold them back!! That box is ours!!"
Ok… Now this is ridiculous guys… This looks like you're holding back so kind of zombie horde… And why the heck are these researchers still trying to push forward anyway…
Right then, another person ca through the doors and let out a shout that echoed through the entire cargo bay.
"EVERYONE STOP!!"
The researchers that had been pushing against the five froze up before quickly scurrying back, their previous enthusiasm gone like the wind.
At the doorway, I saw a rather peculiar person.
Peculiar in the sense that this guy had the head of a lion complete with a regal mane that surrounded his face and as if that wasn't enough, a pair of oversized spectacles also sat on his snout.
And if you thought that he only stopped at modding his head, you'd be wrong because I can clearly see that his feet ended in paws and so did his hands.
I had to wonder if there was so kind of alien race that looked like that but Mara leaned over and whispered, "He gene spliced himself to look like that. He was definitely a human before."
Right… So that's what I was wondering… You went so far as to gene splice yourself to look like that but you can't give yourself better eyesight?
Your priorities are really screwed man… Unless… Those aren't prescription glasses and you're just using them to look smart…
The lion guy stepped towards us, ignoring the other researchers who had stepped aside to give way to him.
He stopped right in front of the five researchers who were still blocking the way, his eyebrow cocking at them.
"Well? Aren't you going to show what you called for?"
The forr leader guy pointed at him, "Are you the head researcher here?"
The lion guy's brows furrowed, "You are the new researchers that were sent here, aren't you? You're telling you didn't even bother researching information about the station first before coming here? I am Hasani Jawara, head researcher of this station. And I believe you called here so that you can request for usage of the station's funds to buy Psionic Shards, yes?"
Daisy raised her finger, "Oh no, no. That's where you're wrong~ It's not Psionic Shards but Psionic Crystals!"
"Psionic Crystals? Are you sure you're not being tricked? Let see."
This ti, they stepped aside and allowed the lion guy to walk up to the box containing the Psionic Crystals.
His eyes widened for a mont before his expression turned into one of suspicion.
He then reached inside the box and I was honestly quite surprised he managed to take one out with those paws of his.
I was really tempted to say "You break it, you bought it" but I decided that wasn't a good ti to say that especially since they had security--.
"Hey, you break it, you pay for it," Amber called out from my side.
…
You know what? I ain't even mad.
The lion guy turned towards Amber and frowned, "Are these yours?"
"Nope, the Captain of the ship is right over here~" She gestured towards cheerily.
The lion guy shifted his gaze to and his eyes narrowed as he looked up and down, as though sizing up.
"These crystals… Do you even know what they are?" He asked.
I nodded, "Psionic Crystals. Isn't that what was told to you through the comms from your security?"
"The question is if you even know what Psionic Crystals are."
"Crystals that Psionics would pay an absolute premium for. Way more than just Psionic Shards," I said simply.
It's not like I know their properties or anything which was why I just said what was special about them to in this instance, which was the fact that I'm expecting to be paid a lot for this.
He seed to understand what I was looking for and he waved the crystal in front of him, "Where did you get these?"
I was prepared for a question like that so I only pretended to pause for a while to think before answering, "We ca across an anomaly where Psionic Chrysalis were hovering over so kind of wormhole. We hunted them and a bunch of these crystals were spat out from the wormhole before it closed up. So we just went to gather all of them and the shards alongside them as well."
"Where is this anomaly?"
I gave him a look, "Is there a need for us to tell you?"
His eyes narrowed and he did not respond to my question imdiately.
I held his gaze without backing down.
Eventually, he seed to be satisfied since he looked back at the box, "No, you do not. I'll just take your word for it but if you are actually able to secure a steady supply of these Psionic Crystals, I would not mind buying them from you again."
This guy's pretty sly huh?
He suspects that I might have found a place that I could potentially get more but instead of pushing for it, he would rather secure my sale of it to him as a long term investnt.
"If I find more, I'll keep that in mind," I answered, trying not to give anything away.
He placed the Crystal he was holding back inside the box before turning back to , "How much are you selling these for?"
I turned towards Mara, prompting her to step forward.
She gestured at the box, "There's ten inside the box and we're planning to sell them at eight hundred thousand Credits each."
Woah… That's eight million Credits right there…
You could almost buy yourself a C Class ship with that money…
The researchers behind him all started muttering amongst themselves, though I wasn't sure if it was because they thought the price was too high or sothing.
Seems like it was indeed too high as the lion guy frowned at her, "If we buy the entire box, could you lower the price?"
Mara turned to and it took a while to realise that she was 'asking' for my thoughts about it.
The reason why I got her involved was because I was counting on her telepathy to tell her what price would be acceptable for him to purchase the Crystals from. But for her to turn to … She must be trying to make it look like I was the one in full control of the sale.
I'm also assuming that she intentionally picked a price that was too high so that he would ask for a bargain to be less suspicious.
Thus, all I needed to do was give her a nod before she turned back to the lion guy again.
"We can sell them at six hundred thousand Credits each if you were to buy the whole box."
He nodded, "That sounds like a fair price, we'll take that."
The researchers behind him seed to be quite happy with that as well since they were all nodding at each other and looking excited.
He was just about to turn away before I cleared my throat, "Ahem… Just so you know…"
I pointed to the side, prompting Ries to direct her drones to carry two more boxes to place them in front of .
"Do you want these two as well or is one box enough?"
He looked at the two extra boxes, then looked up at , then back at the two boxes again.
"I'll take them all."
Nice.
Did I also ntion that we also have Psionic Shards? I wonder if he's also buying those too?
Damn, coming here was such a good idea~
