Unfortunately… I didn't get to loot…

"Just how many people are you expecting to be sent after you?" I asked as we ran through another alley.

"Those guys would definitely be calling more of them after us. And they are definitely watching us right now," Valiea answered back.

"Right… So what's the plan now?"

"We have a dummy house that we use for situations like this. We're heading there to deal with whoever that's left," Ragbar explained.

We're not even taking their car and we're just running there so I was worried how far this palace was.

One good thing was that there wasn't anyone chasing us or laying an ambush at least, but the plan right now was just to make it look like we were really just trying to run away.

We leapt over a low wall and I took the opportunity to ask, "Why not just turn around and kill whoever is tracking us?"

"The risk isn't worth it as we don't know when their backup will arrive. It's better that we change the location to sowhere that is more advantageous for us," Valiea explained.

"And… I don't an to be rude but… The both of you handle yourselves surprisingly well in a fight."

"Hmph… After you have to deal with assassins like these enough tis, you start to learn the tricks and skills needed to survive."

Fair enough I guess…

I gave the couple a look, "Does this happen often then?"

Ragbar sighed, "Enough that we had plans and contingencies made for whatever they might do to us."

"Haven't you thought of… I don't know… A more permanent solution? Because I definitely can't see myself putting up with this for longer than it happening twice or thrice."

Ragbar raised an eyebrow at even as he ran, "What do you suggest we do? Kill those rich guys? Admit defeat and shut down everything that we've worked so hard for and run away from here? No. We're not going to just quit. We will be standing and fighting the entire way. This is a battle of endurance where we either outlast their interest in us or we die."

Ah… I see… These two are the stubborn kind where they would just weather the problem and let it dissipate.

I'm not very sure that this is a good tactic to use against their current problem though… Since there's no guarantee that those guys would ever give up or, very likely, lose interest for a few years before suddenly deciding they should screw with this couple again.

But if you ask if I had a solution for them… Then the answer was a no so it's not like I had a better idea for how they could deal with this either.

Just as I was about to ask if we were there yet, they stopped in front of a rather small apartnt building and Ragbar nodded at it.

"This is it."

It was a three storey building with a back entrance that Ragbar entered through, the door having been left unlocked.

We entered into what looked like an entranceway where a set of stairs leading up to the second floor was placed against one side of the wall.

The couple imdiately began climbing up the stairs and I followed behind them, a little worried that we might be dragging the other residents of the building into this ss.

As though reading my mind, Valiea turned back to give a reassuring smile, "No need to worry, we own the building so there's no one else here but us."

We passed by the second floor where several doors were lined up against the corridor which would have housed residents if there were any.

The couple ignored all of them and climbed up another flight of stairs to reach the third floor before going to a specific door at the end where Ragbar had to unlock it with his personal terminal.

He quickly pushed open the door and we filed inside, revealing the room to have been refurbished into a control room of sorts.

Ragbar gestured for to follow him while Valiea went over to the side to fiddle with a control panel.

"Over here, Tera. I will need to register you into the security systems so you don't get affected by it…"

I raised an eyebrow at him, "You have security systems here too?"

"Of course," He scoffed. "Did you really think the two of us could hold off an entire assassin group by ourselves even with the field advantage? We're still just bartenders at the end of the day, it's just that we learned a little skill on how to fight."

He brought to the large console at the end of the room and began flipping switches on the console itself.

I watched as the console flared to life and the screens on it flickered on.

He then started tapping on a holographic keyboard before he gestured at , "Just need you to stand still over there. Then I'll get the security system to register you."

I did as he asked and a light scanned from the machine and the words 'New user registered' appeared on the screen.

Right then, I noticed there was movent on one of the screens and turned towards it.

The screen was showing the area outside the building and four vans just pulled up in front of it.

The door opened and an impossible number of people filed out, all of them ard to the teeth.

Just how many people did they pack in one van?

They looked up at the building and soone walked out from the side to talk to the newcors. I'm guessing that was the guy who was following us and called these guys here to finish us off.

"Is there audio on this thing?" I asked.

"Not with the ones outside…" Ragbar explained, also looking at the sa screen as I was. "But once they co inside, we would be able to hear them."

We didn't need to wait long for that as the assassins quickly entered the building through the front door.

We switched our gaze to another screen that was showing the interior of the building to watch the assassins enter the entranceway cautiously, their guns held at the ready.

True to his word, voices started being transmitted through the machine which ant that the assassins were talking to each other in the entrance hall right now.

"Where are they?"

"Most likely in one of the rooms. Check them all and shoot anyone that is here as well. We can't afford to leave any witnesses."

Wow.. These guys are ruthless huh?

If this apartnt hadn't been bought out by Ragbar and Valiea and there were others living here… These guys were prepared to kill them as well…

"What's the plan?" I whispered, despite the fact that they couldn't hear us.

Valiea's voice ca from behind , "We fight back of course."

When I turned around, I found her holding four SMGs in her hands with a very proud grin on her face.

I then looked behind her and I realised that the console she was fiddling with opened up a hidden door that hid an entire armoury behind it with various different weapons on display.

Well… I still have my shotgun but I also wouldn't mind having so big guns as well…

"But is it still just the three of us? I don't think we could handle that many of them on our own even with all this equipnt…" I pointed out.

Ragbar chuckled, "Co on, Tera. You didn't think that we would set up such a big control panel just so that we can control a few caras, did we?"

He then gestured to one of the panels on the console and I peeked over his shoulder to see several indicators on it. Naly 'Automated Turrets', 'Entrance Lockdown' and 'Android Deploynt'.

He typed into the console again and a false panel on the wall slid upwards to reveal three androids that had been hiding in there, all of them activating at the sa ti before they stepped out.

Unlike the bouncer androids that look completely human save for the tal ring around their necks, these androids seed to be purposefully built for battle.

Two of them had their arms swapped out for gun barrels and the last one seed to be so kind of drone controller with its backpack that imdiately had several drones detach from it to hover around her.

Ragbar grinned at , "Once they reach the second floor… We'll lock them in and then kill them all. So go ahead and grab any weapon you might like from the armoury, Tera. We're going to massacre them right here~"

Yeah… From how cheery he sounded, this definitely happened before and they definitely have done this more than once…

I'm starting to think that the main reason why they haven't tried to find a more permanent solution to their problem was because they actually enjoy the hunt…
