Seriously? There's already soone trying to kill ? Right after Valiea warned about it? Just what kind of coincidence is this?
I looked around to check that there was no one else around, wondering just how this guy managed to sneak all the way in here without anyone spotting him.
Seeing that this place really was empty, I decided to just confront the guy directly before he escaped.
I pulled out my pistol from my holster and aid it at the guy.
"Don't move or I'll shoot," I threatened.
The guy froze up as soon as he heard my voice, "Wait… Wait, wait… I know this looks bad… But I'm just delivering a package…"
"Really? And what's in that package?"
"Sothing that a group of people would like you to use in your challenge against Miss Valiea…"
"What's that supposed to be then?"
"I… I can't say… Please… I really am just a ssenger…"
I moved a little closer but still remained out of reach of him with my gun still trained on him, "Alright then, who are the people that sent this?"
"I can't say…"
"You can't because you don't know or sothing will happen to you if you do?"
"The… The latter…"
"And who will know that you told ?"
"They would… They will know…"
I gestured around us with a hand, "Do you see anyone else around right now aside from you and ? Who else will be able to rat out on you?"
"They will know… They have their ways, please…"
"Tsk… Alright, open the box."
"Please… I can't open this either…"
"You know this makes it even more suspicious right? Since I already saw you put it there, I'm going to assu that thing is a bomb or sothing and I'm gonna call security here to deal with it."
"It's… It's… I…"
I levelled my gun at his head, "So what's it going to be? You want to open it for or should I call security here and deal with both you and the package?"
He hesitated for a mont before nodding slowly, "I'll… I'll open it…"
"Slowly," I ordered.
He obeyed, his hand slowly releasing the clasp on the box to lift up the cover.
He then shuffled to the side so that I could see the contents of the box.
The box had a foam interior which was used to hold a single Credit Chip and another smaller tallic box inside it.
He then lifted the cover a little further and a holographic projection appeared in front of the box which started playing a voice recording.
"Greetings. I wish we had t under better circumstances but unfortunately, the ti fra of this did not allow to do so. I represent a group of people who are very interested in seeing you succeed against Miss Valiea in this challenge of yours and we are prepared to support you in any way possible."
I raised an eyebrow at the guy who delivered the box and he was looking around nervously, as though afraid that sothing was going to just jump out and attack him at any mont.
The voice continued, "In here, you will find a box that will help you make sure that your opponent will lose in the upcoming challenge. It's a drug that we have procured that can dissolve in any liquid to be tasteless and odourless. The effects of it are designed to impede on a person's motor functions, not enough to cause them much harm but enough that they will make mistakes as it dulls their senses. We believe this will greatly help you in your challenge if she is unable to perform at her best."
The guy reached forward and slowly took out the smaller box to open it and show its contents to . I'm guessing this guy decided that since he was already in this position, he might as well just go all the way.
I eyed the box's contents and sure enough, there was a pill shaped thing sitting inside the box staring right back at .
As though expecting soone to open the box, the voice waited for a mont before continuing again.
"You do not need to worry about being implicated in this as there will be no evidence remaining after the drug has run its course. All you need to do is to get Miss Valiea to drink this sohow and we will leave the details of it to you. Do this and we will reward you greatly. By now, you should also see the Credit Chip beside the drug."
My gaze shifted back to the box for a mont to look at the Credit Chip again, only now realising that it was gold in colour.
"In it, you will find ten million Credits. This is rely just a gift from us to you for hearing us out. If you succeed in this, we are willing to pay you fifty tis that amount after this competition has concluded. We look forward to the results."
Damn… That's five hundred million Credits dude… Just how badly do you want Valiea to lose that you would fork out that much money?
The screen then fizzled out of existence and sothing tells that the recording had been deleted completely from the box so trying to replay the ssage was impossible.
Just saying, five hundred million Credits is more than twice our current savings… That's a lot of money…
Heck, you could probably buy a D Class Destroyer with that amount of money… And assuming these people aren't trying to scam , they're really throwing this money at just to drug Valiea…
What should I do?
The thing is… They probably did this because they think I have no chance of winning and they're just trying to sabotage Valiea to help win…
They probably don't know that I had a chance of winning even without their help so… If I just compete seriously and choose not to drug her, I might still just get the money anyway.
I shifted my gaze back to the guy, "Assuming I win the challenge… How am I supposed to collect the reward from you guys?"
He hesitated before answering, "I… I believe they will be coming to find you after the results of the competition are finalised…"
Hmm… That ans they are also in the venue itself then…

I waved him away, "Tell your employer that I have received it and I will consider it."
He nodded quickly and scrambled to leave, disappearing down the corridor after placing the box with the drug back onto the foam padding.
First thing I did was to holster my gun and open the door to my waiting room, shoving the box inside and leaving the Credit Chip where it was while I took out the drug from its container.
I then peeked outside to check that no one was there before making my way to Valiea's waiting room.
I reached there just as she was opening the door and the four ard woman smiled when she saw .
"Oh hey, I'm guessing you got bored in your own room?"
"Sothing like that," I lied before nodding at the door. "Can I co in?"
"Of course, of course~"
We entered the room and the door shut behind us before I looked around to check if there was any possible signs of surveillance.
"Umm… Valiea… How sure are you that this room isn't bugged sohow?"
She blinked at , "Umm… Since when are you even more paranoid than I am? Sorry, was it because of ? Since I tried to warn you about possible dangers because you got involved with ?"
I gave her a serious look, "Just answer the question first…"
She must have realised I was serious because she didn't protest and rely turned towards the female android that had been standing in the corner of the room the entire ti.
"Do a scan of the room for surveillance devices."
The android did as she asked and light projected from her eyes as she scanned the room.
"Reporting, there are no surveillance devices present."
Good.
I took out the drug I was given and showed it to her, "Do you know what this is?"
"No… What is that?"
I went ahead to explain the entire situation to her including the contents of what the voice said.
She frowned, "For them to do sothing like this… I don't even know who I might have offended for them to offer that much money… But there's no doubt that whoever it is must have co from the Inner Colonies."
"What do you intend to do?" I asked.
She shrugged, "I think the more important question is what you intend to do, Miss Tera. You are the one being contacted after all."
"I was thinking… I just destroy this drug and then we compete anyway. And if I win, I take their money and run off."
She smirked, "Sounds like a good plan Miss Tera. Let's do that then~"
Yep, let's scam them of their money instead~
