Well fuck… This was definitely not how I thought this eting would turn out…
The guy who is supposedly Mara's brother got off from his little throne and also floated up into the air as well.
"Sister. What a surprise to see you here."
Mara flicked her hand and one of the debris flung towards the guy.
He raised his hand and the debris stopped in front of him before he clenched it into a fist, crushing it telekinetically.
"So… Let guess," The guy drawled. "This is one of your servants after you decided the Family wasn't good enough for you?"
Mara lifted her hand and a tree was uprooted from the ground, which revealed the tree to be a fake tree as wires were yanked out from the ground that had been connected to its trunk.
The leaves at the top fizzled out, showing that they had been holograms all along.
I looked down at the grass and I only just realised that they were also holograms this entire ti…
Damn… And here I thought I was seeing a real garden for the first ti… These were all fake…
Mara scoffed at the guy, "I don't need servants. I don't even know who that is. Aren't you here to try and bring back to the Family?"
"Ha! You give yourself too much credit. Do you think I care that much about you? Our uncles and my father might be interested in you pumping out babies to get your power but I don't care. You're not my type after all."
"Hmph… Could have fooled . You're only saying that because you are already betrothed to Cousin Jenny aren't you?"
"That's right. Two more years and she'll be of age before I'll start filling her up and she's better than you. Unlike you, I do intend to fulfil my obligations to the Family after they have raised up so perfectly."
"I'm sure you will. But since you're already here, won't you die for ?"
She flung the tree at him while I took the opportunity to scurry away.
I could already tell that Mara was trying to distract him so that I could get away so I wasn't going to just stick around watching the fight with my thumb up my ass.
Thankfully, my power armour was still functional so I pushed myself up to a knee in preparations to stand back up.
Unfortunately, my movent caught the attention of the two maids that were behind Mara's brother and it doesn't seem like they want to leave as they started to move towards .
Just as they took a step in my direction, an entire barrage of debris was flung towards them, knocking both of them flying away.
Turning back, I realised Mara was sending everything she had towards her brother and he was deflecting them away with flicks of his hands.
I'm pretty sure she had been aiming for those two from the start and rely made it seem like those two maids were caught up in their battle as collateral damage.
I took that chance to scramble back on my feet before retreating into the bushes, taking cover as even more fake trees were being uprooted to be used as projectiles.
A miniature tornado was starting to form and I just realised that this was my first ti witnessing a Psionic vs Psionic fight.
The brother had created so kind of invisible force field around him that rendered all the debris Mara was throwing at him into rubble.
A particularly large tree was thrown at him but it hit the force field and splintered apart before exploding into pieces.
The guy then used the broken pieces as improvised bullets to fire back at Mara but she had a force field of her own and the pieces disintegrated against it.
Pieces of the ground then started being torn up and thrown against either Mara or her brother and a gale started to form as well.
Before I knew it, a cyclone had ford around the two Psionics and I had the unfortunate luck of being inside it as well.
"Not bad sister, it seems like you have improved at least," The brother chuckled, his voice sohow clear despite the fact that there was a gale blowing around us.
"I had to… Since my own family was trying to tie down after all."
Mara thrust her hands towards him and he was shoved back by an invisible force before he righted himself.
He grinned while dusting his chest, "Ooof. Pretty impressive sister, and here I thought the only thing you can do was to read minds. Why don't you read my mind and find out what I'm going to do to you once I knock you down?"
"I have been in that head of yours once and that is one ti too many…"
"Really? Pity… You might actually appreciate what I've been doing here. I thought the Outer Colonies might appreciate so better managent."
"What you an to say is that you got tired of the puppets you have back at ho and you're looking for new ones to play with," Mara growled, thrusting her hand out again.
The brother swung his hand in an arc and a shockwave exploded outwards in between them, their invisible attacks clashing against each other and cancelling each other out.
The shockwave was big enough to reach and even sent skidding back a little despite the fact that I was wearing this heavy power armour.
The brother let out a laugh, "Hahaha! What's wrong with that, Sister? This universe exists as our plaything, isn't it? The people here should be grateful that I'm even paying attention to them! If it wasn't for , that little toy of mine wouldn't even have beco this station's administrator!"
Mara threw another piece of tal at him, "As usual, you treat anyone who isn't a Psionic like they are just toys."
He punched his fist forward, smashing the tal with an invisible force and sending it flying back at Mara.
"What's wrong with that? They aren't even able to comprehend the secrets of this Universe! We are the real masters of this Universe! They live for our sake!"
Mara clapped her hands together and the tal sheet crumpled before it got flung to the side.
"Like those servants of yours then? Do they even have a shred of humanity left in them? Or are they just mindless puppets that dance to your tune? Is that what you wish upon everyone who isn't a Psionic?"
"Being puppeted by is their honour! Don't you know I have people lining up begging to be my puppets?"
"When the other choice they have is death, of course they would say that while they still don't know the consequences of it. If they all knew what would beco of them after you laid your hands on them, they would have chosen death instead."
"Ahahaha! That's what they get! Not like you are in any position to say anything either, Sister! How many secrets have you stolen from others and used for your own benefit? Deny it all you want but you know your talent best! I hadn't planned for this from the start but since you're already here, I might as well just take you back to the family and get rewarded for doing so, so why don't you just give up and co quietly? I might even show you a good ti on the way back!"
"Just die."
Ok… So… They've been throwing out a bunch of stuff right now but I kind of figured that this guy apparently has so kind of power to control people like puppets? And one of them is even a station administrator here?
But well… That's not the important part anyway… The important part is how we're supposed to deal with this?
At the mont, it looks like it's a stalemate since neither Mara or her brother was able to break through the other's defense. Anything they threw at each other was deflected or countered.
I'm pretty sure Amber and the others were still in hiding since Mara had specifically co out on her own to make it look like we were not related at all.
But with how they were tearing up this place… There's no way people wouldn't notice this and we might be dragged into it anyway…
We have to get out of here right now… But how?
Hmm… The guy's back is turned to … He's fully focused on Mara… Maybe I can… Fuck it, let's just do it!
I loaded an EMP shell into my shoulder mounted mortar and took aim at the guy. Since he's a Psionic and his powers use the brain… EMP should be effective, right?
Just as he pushed back against another one of Mara's trees, I fired the round at him, hoping to catch him off guard.
He imdiately spun around and raised his hand, stopping my EMP shell in midair with a scowl.
"What's this? So you are her servant after all? Do you think you can just--"
The EMP shell suddenly accelerated and exploded in front of him, the electrical pulse electrocuting him and knocking him out of the air.
His eyes rolled back and he crashed onto the ground, unmoving.
Huh… So it did work.
