’Begin’

I levelled my autocannon at the sa spot where my opponent would appear right as that window showed up in front of .

I’ve already done this a few tis so I knew what to expect.

First, they get about three seconds of invulnerability, which you can see that it’s in effect because of the white glow around them.

The mont the glow disappeared though...

The poor guy who was still standing there was instantly bombarded with my kinetic shells, shattering their shields even before they could even gather their bearings.

They tried to look for cover but I specifically climbed up here so that I had a clear view of the entire area around where they would spawn so there was nowhere they could run to.

Before they could even reach the closest spot to hide, I had already killed them, securing another win for .

The only way the one that’s matched up with could hope to win was if they made use of their invulnerability period to make a run for cover. That way, they would have the ti to avoid getting spawn camped.

Too bad though, since most of them would just stand around for a mont when they spawned in, thinking they would be safe.

Then again... There’s a reason why these people are being sent here because only the losers are being teleported to other arenas. If you win your duel, you will simply stay in your own arena without going anywhere so everyone that was sent to my place lost their duels.

Thankfully, they gave us infinite ammo for this duel so I didn’t need to worry about running out of ammo, though you still need to reload at least.

But whenever you reload, the simulation spawns in a fresh magazine from the place you take them out from so you don’t need to worry about running out.

Otherwise... I wouldn’t have been able to stay up here.

Looking at my score, I’m already sitting at thirty points which ans I’ve defeated thirty opponents by now and I have yet to lose a single ti.

I’m actually spending more ti waiting for an opponent to appear than actually fighting my opponents since apparently, I kill mine too quickly...

The screen telling that I have to wait for a new opponent appeared in front of again and I settled back down to wait, not before I reloaded my autocannon of course.

Just as I relaxed in my seat however, the screen suddenly changed again to show the word ’Begin’, prompting to quickly get up into a firing position and point my gun in their spawn point.

The mont my opponent appeared, they imdiately made a dash for cover, their invincibility preventing from doing anything to them.

I clucked my tongue in annoyance as I held my fire, unwilling to give away my position needlessly for now.

They should still believe that I’m sowhere down there so I could still get the drop on them if I wait for the perfect opportunity to strike.

I maintained my position as I watched the cube that the guy had chosen to hide behind, waiting for him to show himself.

They chose to peek around one of the corners and I shifted my aim there, my finger on the trigger but still not firing.

If I fired there, their shield would have blocked it and they would have just ducked behind the cube again so that would be a wasted shot. I need them to co out into the open where I could finish them off.

As I thought, they ducked back into cover again, probably taking a mont to plan how they wanted to advance since I doubt they spotted .

Hmm... Should I move to another--

BANG!

My shield flared to life as an autocannon shell hit in the head area.

Instinctively, I swivelled myself to point my gun at the other side of the cube, since that would be the only place they could shoot from if they weren’t peeking from where I had been aiming at originally.

Sure enough, they were crouching in that corner and shooting in my direction, scoring two more hits on my head before I returned fire.

I fired a burst of three rounds, the first one hitting the cube near their chest and the second and third shots landing on their chest and head respectively.

Unfortunately, since I started shooting at them later than they did with , I knew I was at a disadvantage and my shield levels dropping quickly was clear proof of that, especially when all their shots were nailing in the head.

I quickly leapt off the platform and did a backflip, avoiding the next few shots as they sailed underneath before I landed behind a cube.

Guess I’m going to have to do this the hard way.

I ejected the magazine and slamd in a fresh one before I tried to flank to the right, using my ntal map to rember where that guy was before I had to relocate.

I kept an eye out just in case he also tried to chase after since my shield hadn’t recharged back to full strength yet, which ant he has the advantage right now.

Sure enough, just as I rounded a corner, I found him lunging towards with his energy blade in hand.

I quickly smacked at his wrist to redirect his thrust to the side while firing my autocannon from the hip, peppering his shield with several shots.

I couldn’t squeeze off enough shots to shatter it however as he used his other hand to smack my gun to the side as well.

Instead of trying to hold on to it, I let the weapon fly out of my grasp and imdiately grabbed my own energy blade to swipe at him.

To his credit, he managed to react to it and stepped back from , my blade slicing through the air rely inches away from where his cockpit would be.

His energy blade ca slashing back towards so I flipped my own weapon to block it, stopping the blade from reaching my cockpit.

He imdiately pulled his hand back and attempted a stab instead, only for to grab his wrist to stop him and thrusting out my other hand to try and do the sa to him as well.

He completely avoided it by leaning to the side, my energy blade stabbing the air right beside him and leaving him completely unscathed.

He then shoved back to free himself and used the sa montum to leap back as well, only to switch to his autocannon to start firing at , his bullets striking in the head with every shot.

I clucked my tongue and spun behind the cube I had run out from, dodging the kinetic shells that struck at the corner of my cover.

Tsk... This guy is pretty good... I wonder-- Wait...

Shit... I think I’m fighting Lea right now... No one else should be able to shoot like that...

Damn... That ans she lost to soone huh?

Well... Sorry Lea, but I don’t intend to just hand over a win to you either so you’re going to have to fight for it.

But even though I say that... I’m in quite a predicant since I’m only left with my energy blade and my autocannon is on the floor sowhere around the corner...

It’s quite likely that she would be able to defeat in this round...

Fuck it, let’s just wing it then.

I spun back around to leap out of the corner, and either by sheer luck or coincidence, I caught her in the midst of reloading her autocannon.

I did not let that chance go to waste as I activated the boosters that accelerated towards her, my energy blade held ready to stab into her chest.

Rather than try to finish her reload, Lea also opted to abandon her autocannon to switch to her energy blade instead, holding it in a stabbing position as I flew towards her.

I anticipated that she was timing my approach to stab right as I got into range, so just as I was about to reach that point, I cut off the thrusters at the sa ti as she moved her hand.

My sudden decrease in speed caused her to miss her stab, giving the opportunity to grab onto her wrist with my free hand and pull her forward to throw her off balance.

With that opening, I stabbed my energy blade towards the Exo-Knight’s neck, but Lea was expecting that and my attack was stopped as she grabbed on my wrist to stop it, my blade just inches away from her.

I turned to see her staring at and I wondered just how long we’ll have to fight before one of us would win when she suddenly let go and let herself get impaled on my blade instead, losing the fight on purpose.

Eh? Wait... Did she also realise that it was and just chose to lose instead?

Ah... I guess strategically, it would be better that we don’t waste ti fighting each other since we won’t get more points from dragging a fight longer anyway...

I’ll have to give her so headpats later I guess.
