She tried to resist, but with a flick of Ye Yu’s broad sleeve, she instantly fell into slumber. Monts later, Ye Yu had completely read her mory.
You Hua was a mid-stage Ghost King–level cultivator from Nian Ghost City. She had gone wandering ten thousand years ago, only to awaken recently to the calamity in the Underworld. Having seen everything through the Thousand Dreams Illusion, Ye Yu’s expression grew extrely strange. Then, without warning, he slapped her across the face! The sharp pain imdiately roused You Hua from her slumber.

He grasped You Hua’s cheek and said in a low voice, “This first slap was to tell you not to rage recklessly when you’re at a disadvantage. The second was to tell you that every grievance has its true culprit. I did not kill your mother. If you’re so angry, go to the Buddha Realm and see for yourself. What do you an by wanting to kill ? I am not your father, and I have no ti to protect your mother!”
“You...” You Hua began to protest, but seeing Ye Yu raise his right hand again, she instinctively flinched away. The humiliation and her own fear left her miserable. Bound as she was, she could not move, and so remained trapped.
Ye Yu said nothing, rely standing in silence. After a few breaths, You Hua cald her thoughts. She realized there was truth in Ye Yu’s words: the real murderers were the monks of the Buddha Realm, not him—and, in the current situation, to continue this way would only bring her more harm.
Finally, after much inner struggle, she spoke softly, “Let go. I understand now. I won’t harm you again. Today’s events were my fault.”
Ye Yu’s tone was indifferent. “Is that all?”
You Hua furrowed her brow and whispered, “I have apologized. What more do you want?”
An apology—does that suffice to end it? Ye Yu’s gaze grew even colder...
