Tang Yanqi’s head was pressed into Sheng Jianan’s embrace, naturally unable to see the faintly raised corners of the man’s lips above her.
Sheng Jianan had never slept while embracing any other woman like this. Tang Yanqi was the only one, and it felt good.
The night was deep, and Sheng Jianan, who had been unable to fall asleep, finally succumbed to sleepiness and drifted off.
The next morning, when Sheng Jianan woke up, he was surprised to find that his side was not as empty as before. Tang Yanqi was no longer in his arms but was still lying on the bed, her whole body curled up into a ball. Sheng Jianan thought she was still asleep, so he propped himself up to get out of bed. A quick glance, however, revealed that Tang Yanqi’s face didn’t look right.
Her skin was very fair, but now it was deathly pale, and her delicate brows were tightly knit, looking as if she was in pain.
"Tang Yanqi?"
Sheng Jianan called her na, but Tang Yanqi only bit her lip, as if she hadn’t heard him at all. Sheng Jianan’s heart tightened, and he reached out to turn her over. "Tang Yanqi."
He pulled back the quilt and found that Tang Yanqi had curled up into a ball. Her forehead and neck were covered in sweat. Sheng Jianan was suddenly panic-stricken and imdiately turned to grab the phone and call the family doctor.
After hanging up the phone, Sheng Jianan noticed that Tang Yanqi’s hands were tightly clutching her stomach. Sothing suddenly flashed in his mind—he rembered the doctor had once said this woman was malnourished and prone to stomachaches. Is that what’s happening now?
Rolling off the bed, Sheng Jianan walked to the staircase and called downstairs, "Mrs. Zhang, bring up a glass of hot water."
Mrs. Zhang was startled by the look of her young master. She subconsciously looked up, and the first thing she noticed wasn’t Sheng Jianan’s anxious expression, but that her young master, who was always pampered and never suffered any discomfort, was standing barefoot on the cold steps.
Mrs. Zhang hurriedly carried the hot water upstairs. When she saw Tang Yanqi, she was also taken aback. After a closer look, Mrs. Zhang sighed in relief and asked softly by Tang Yanqi’s ear, "Young Madam, is it that ti of the month?"
Tang Yanqi was in so much pain that she broke out in a sweat and didn’t know what was happening outside until she heard the busy sounds. When Mrs. Zhang’s words reached her ears, Tang Yanqi nodded slightly.
Mrs. Zhang covered her with the quilt and then said to Sheng Jianan, "Young Master, Young Madam has nstrual cramps. I’ll go prepare so brown sugar water for her."
After a second’s pause, Mrs. Zhang added, "Young Master, apply a hot compress to Young Madam’s lower abdon to help relieve the pain."
Young Master Sheng was dumbfounded. What the hell are nstrual cramps? It’s not that he was ignorant. As a man who never had a girlfriend and always indifferent to won, Sheng Jianan knew the term but didn’t realize it could hurt this much.
He didn’t think Tang Yanqi was faking it now. Looking at her state, Sheng Jianan just felt a stifling frustration. nstrual cramps, how could they cause such pain?
Sheng Jianan held the hot water cup Mrs. Zhang had just brought up for a while, then slid his hand under the quilt, prying apart Tang Yanqi’s arms clutched over her stomach, and placed his hand on it.
The mont his palm touched Tang Yanqi’s lower abdon, Sheng Jianan’s frown deepened. Her stomach was ice-cold as if it had been chilled, no wonder it hurt so much.
The warmth of his large hand indeed seed to make Tang Yanqi feel more comfortable. She still kept her eyes closed and her brows furrowed, but she couldn’t help letting out a soft hum, instinctively leaning towards the source of warmth.
