In the night, a gentle breeze blew as Sheng Jianan squinted his eyes, looking at the person in front of him whom he didn’t know well.
Shen Yao was very quiet, exuding the gentle elegance and grace of a well-bred lady. Even during dinner conversation, she mostly responded to questions asked by others, speaking just enough, neither cold nor overly enthusiastic.
And now, she stood quietly in front of him and asked a question, making Sheng Jianan silent for a couple of seconds, just about to say sothing when Gu Han hung up the phone and ca back: "Why are you standing here, not leaving?"
Shen Yao turned her head, giving him a smile, as if nothing had happened and continued walking forward.
Sheng Jianan remained in place. Few people knew about his eye injury; after all, it wasn’t sothing worth boasting about. When he returned from the United States for quiet recuperation, it was done secretly. During that ti, his temperant was extrely volatile, and the Sheng Family didn’t allow anyone to disturb him. Apart from the Sheng family mbers, his childhood friends, doctors, and the care staff, no one knew about his eye condition. How did Shen Yao know?
Unless...
Sheng Jianan’s eyes flashed with an unusual look, but quickly returned to calm, as he strode to catch up.
After wandering around the courtyard of the old mansion, the three returned to the house where Shen Rui’an and Mr. Sheng’s chess ga had just ended. Shen Rui’an shook his head with a smile: "Haven’t played for a long ti, and indeed I’ve beco rusty. I concede, I concede."
Seeing them return, Shen Rui’an stood up and checked the ti: "It’s late, Yaoyao and I will head off. Thank you very much for your hospitality."
Mrs. Sheng took the prepared gift, smiling as she approached: "This is a small gesture, for Yaoyao. It’s rare to see her."
"Thank you, Aunt."
Shen Yao accepted gracefully, seemingly unintentionally glancing at Sheng Jianan, who also happened to look at her. Their gazes t for a mont in the air before Shen Yao politely smiled and shifted her gaze, standing obediently beside Shen Rui’an and engaging in further pleasantries.
Mrs. Sheng and Mr. Sheng escorted them to the door and suddenly thought of sothing, so Mrs. Sheng asked: "Didn’t you say Yaoyao graduated and plans to work in France?"
Shen Yao shook her head, before she could speak, Shen Rui’an spoke first: "Don’t be deceived by this child’s gentle deanor and few words; she has her own opinions. Originally, in France, her elder brother had arranged everything for her, but she didn’t want that and decided to co back and forge her own path. We’re not interfering and leaving it to her."
"Kids will handle their own affairs, and Yaoyao is so outstanding, she’ll definitely be fine."
After more pleasantries, Shen Rui’an and Shen Yao finally left, and Mrs. Sheng turned to Sheng Jianan: "Jianan, will you stay at ho tonight? Yanxi isn’t ho, right? You won’t be lonely going back alone, how about staying here with us? Your grandfather is coming back tomorrow, it’d be good to have dinner together."
Sheng Jianan nodded in agreent, and Mrs. Sheng looked at Gu Han: "What about Ah Han? Shall I have the staff prepare a room for you?"
"Sure, I’ll gladly accept, thank you, Aunt."
"You’re so polite, no need for that."
Mrs. Sheng sent the staff to prepare a room for Gu Han while she headed to the kitchen to prepare so fruits and milk, personally delivering them to Sheng Jianan.
Sheng Jianan stood at the window, the echoes of Shen Yao’s words sounding in his mind. Only when he sensed movent behind him did he turn around.
