Mr. Sheng obviously appreciated Shen Yao’s words, and Tang Yanqi could tell Shen Yao wasn’t making polite conversation. Her tone conveyed a confidence that Tang Yanqi had never had before; it was self-assurance, affirmation of her own skills, without needing any back doors.
Sheng Jianan’s gaze lingered on Shen Yao for two seconds before returning to Tang Yanqi.

Tang Yanqi’s actions were swift, and didn’t attract much attention; she kept her head down eating, naturally missing the flash of astonishnt in Mrs. Sheng’s eyes.
After dinner, Sheng Jianan was called into the room by Mr. Sheng, while Mrs. Sheng pulled Shen Yao to sit on the sofa for a chat, with Tang Yanqi quietly sitting beside them.
Mrs. Sheng and Shen Yao were talking about Sheng Family and Shen Family matters. She was unfamiliar with them and couldn’t join the conversation, nor did she want to interrupt.
Playing with her phone would be impolite, Tang Yanqi could only sit obediently.
No matter from which angle, she seed mismatched with this family. Inside the room, what Sheng Jianan and Mr. Sheng were talking about was unknown to her; outside the room, Mrs. Sheng and Shen Yao chatted passionately, leaving only her feeling off, unable to find a place.
Others might feel awkward, but Tang Yanqi was already used to it, ignoring them, and letting them ignore her as well.
