Sheng Jianan squinted his eyes, saying nothing more, and strode out of the café. Right now, he didn’t want to hear anything, as all those details he once ignored slowly erged from the depths of his mind.
Tang Yanqi sold her house, and Lu Qilin needed money.
These two things seed unrelated, but why did he link them together anyway?
Sheng Jianan casually flagged down a taxi. His mind was in chaos, and right now he just wanted to see soone.
Back at the apartnt, Sheng Jianan opened the door and went in, glancing around the dining room and living room. There was no one there, neither Aunt nor Su Weiyi.
Sheng Jianan then took out his phone to call Tang Yanqi, but the phone rang from the bedroom. Just then, the balcony’s French windows were opened from outside, and Tang Yanqi walked in.
She was montarily stunned to see Sheng Jianan, but quickly returned to normal. "Why are you back?"
It turned out she had been sitting on the swing chair on the balcony, no wonder Sheng Jianan didn’t see her.
Taking a few quick steps to her, Sheng Jianan bowed his head, "Are you... okay?"
Tang Yanqi nodded silently, instead heading to the kitchen to brew herself a glass of glucose. She felt a bit dizzy, probably from the scorching sun or sothing else, and needed so sugar.
Sheng Jianan watched her back. He had so many questions he wanted to ask, but when actually facing her, he found himself unable to ask anything.
What if she said she never gave money to Lu Qilin, or that selling her house wasn’t for him? What if she said that when her mother passed away, she was so devastated she shut herself off, and he wasn’t by her side? What if she said her departure back then was the result of crushed hopes? What would he do then?
So answers were already in Sheng Jianan’s mind, yet he realized he didn’t have the courage to ask.
"What’s wrong with you?"
Tang Yanqi ca over with the sugar water, only to see Sheng Jianan lost in thought. She waved a hand in front of him.
The man grabbed her wrist and pulled her tightly into his arms, nearly causing her to spill the sugar water.
"What are you doing..."
"Yanqi, I’m sorry."
Tang Yanqi was stunned. What was going on? What had happened?
"Sheng Jianan, you..."
"Yanqi, I love you."
"..."
Tang Yanqi said nothing more and let Sheng Jianan hold her. After a long while, Sheng Jianan finally released her, hesitating for a mont before speaking, "I heard you went to the cetery today."
Afraid she might think he was stalking her, Sheng Jianan quickly added, "Sheng Jiayu also went there today and happened to see you, so she told ."
His explanation seed even more unconvincing; after all, who would casually visit a cetery during a non-festival day like Qingming?
But since he said it, he couldn’t take it back. Sheng Jianan scratched his head sowhat irritably. Over three years, he had grown more composed, yet when facing Tang Yanqi, he still felt like an immature youngster.
Tang Yanqi didn’t seem to care whether his explanation was an excuse, speaking calmly, "Yes, I went. I went to see soone and, incidentally, plan to buy a plot for him."
"See... see who?"
Sheng Jianan couldn’t hold back and still asked. Tang Yanqi lowered her gaze slightly. Just as Sheng Jianan thought she didn’t want to ntion it and was about to change the topic, she spoke in an incredibly gentle tone, "My mother."
